I have a 1996 Chevy Express 1500 and the configuration is the same as your 99. This was a tremendously helpful video.... Would love to see more maintenance and repair videos for this vehicle. Thank you!

Hi Wendy, and thanks for your comment. As I come to things that need repair, I'll do more videos. Best of luck with your van! 😊

Man this video helped me so much. Everyone told me how hard this was. But it was actually the easiest spark plug change I’ve ever done.

Sure is great to hear that. 🙂

Great "as it is" video.......Been putting off my plug change on my 5.7 van for a while but this has given me the motivation I needed. I always put the wheels back under the van as well with a plank just in case, as I never trust axle stands 100% and those few cm could make all the difference if she goes.

You ain't no Steven Spielberg with the camera but you got the job done,am gonna change my 97's plugs following your advice,van runs good but is about time now with the original ones in and 144K miles already...I just cleaned the egr,maf sensor,ac blower and resistor and tomorrow I will clean the throttle body and do the plugs.

Lololol!!! I know that's right, I'm no camera man, but if it helps you out I'll take the hit, haha. Wishing you a healthy runner, Mario!

So, how's it running?
@theopinion94524 жыл бұрын
@@BDK27970 it runs like a charm,smooth idle and strong throttle response every time right off green lights,I got an Autel al319 to check the ecm sunday and it had 3 codes of possible issues,1 is the MAF but I cleaned that so I erase the code and 2 more for O2 sensors,I erase them too and will check again in a month and if they return....off with the 4 of them just to be sure.

Excellent video Mr. King! The van I am going to be working on was recently bought by one of my pals. Has been sitting a long time and need to oil the cylinders prior to starting it. Might as well change the plugs while I am at it. You using a section of hose to install the plugs is pure genius.

Thank you so much for the great video, my 1997 Chevy 3500 van is only about 124,000 miles, but is running weak. I plan on replacing the spark plugs, wires, pcv valve, distributor cap and rotor, based on this video, as well as the fuel filter. Got my fingers crossed! Hope you're doing good and best wishes!

Thanks for the help, took me 4 hours to do the back 4 plugs from inside the cab, then i watched this video. It took me 20 minutes to do the front 4..... Rig is still not wanting to start thought unfortunately
@BDK279704 жыл бұрын
Wow, 20 minutes! Fantastic! I'm really sorry I didnt see this sooner, I would've tried to help. Was the distributor the reason it wouldn't start?

Thanks for this video. Helped me a lot to get them all from underneath. 97 GMC Savana! BTW, the Chevy Astro came in RWD and AWD models, but you are right, they are a pain to change the plugs in. Mine ran for 400k miles before it finally gave up.

Sometimes... the "redneck" way of doing things makes a job easier! Never thought of using a shovel handle... I have a 4' pipe for the same thing. But, whatever gets the job done! After watching the video... now I know what my rattle is... (the heat shield!).

Awesome video thanks, I was looking for someone that have video on changing spark plugs in the Van. Some video doesn't show how to removed the plugs and access thru wheel well. Again, many thanks, Pepboys wanted $300 to change with you providing plugs. Total rip off
@BDK279705 жыл бұрын
You're welcome! I agree, 300 is a rip off, especially when you consider how easy this job would be if you had a vehicle lift. I'm glad I could help.

Just found this video...WOW so helpful. I've wanted to check my spark plugs in my Chevy 3500 van but wasn't sure how to get to them (I'm learning this stuff). Would you suggest changing out the plug wires when changing the plugs (not sure when this was last done).
@BDK279704 жыл бұрын
Forgive me for not getting back to you sooner. I just now saw your comment. Yes I would change the spark plug wires if you haven't done so already. I hope that helps!

Lol...that's camera magic! Honestly, if you give yourself enough time, and you don't let yourself get frustrated, it's not too terribly difficult. When I get into those tight spaces where I feel bound up like i can't move my hands, I simply try to relax and move a little slower and things seem to go okay. But these are things that were taught to me, and I just try to pass them along. I'm just one beggar trying to lead another beggar to the bean buffet, lol...

Did you find it? I'm looking for mine on a 2000 model, bought both filters and can't find them.
@BDK27970Ай бұрын
They're inline, I believe one is located on the right inside frame rail midway past the driver's seat. That's a guess, though. I sold this van for $2500 to a homeless guy who had a wallet stuffed full of twenties.

I didn't, but I've worked in Pennsylvania, and I've also been to the Harley factory in York. I'm not sure if it's still there or not, I went many many years ago. Well before I even owned a Harley-Davidson, but I'd loved them as a boy. The guy who gave us our tour of the engine and transmission plant gave away one hat pin at the end of this tour. I still have it on a vest. 😎
