yes, you'll have to remove the two fuel lines on top of the manifold to remove it

Big trucksdd25: Mine didn't have alot of the problems you mentioned, but the bleed down on the pressure lead me to believe the regulator wasn't holding presssure. My bleed down was almost exactly the numbers you reported in your posting from 60 to 10 in seconds.

That is why I posted it...No mention of it in the auto manuals, no mention of it at the parts counter at the local auto part store. It's almost as if it got missed or forgotten about. Why wouldn't a fuel pressure regulator be something requiring repair at some point? Frustrating to say the least, glad you found my post helpful.
@gunns84129 жыл бұрын
I'm not 100 percent certain, but I believe the P0300 code is a generic misfire code. It could be caused by a fuel issue: dirty injectors, water in the fuel, possible bad fuel pressure regulator, or a spark issue ie: distributor cap, rotor, bad spark plug(s), bad spark plug wire(s), timing. sometimes an O2 sensor will cause a misfire, but usually there is a code generated specifically for a bad O2 sensor.

Juan, No on both, if the regulator is bad, the pressure will drop off, and you won't need to bleed or remove a fuel line.
@larrywilderson76204 жыл бұрын
Or if you need to bleed it just pull the fuel pump relay. Then crank it till its stops getting the fuel.

once it's running does it run okay? it's just slow on start up? You have been able to see the fuel pressure drop? if so, I think it could be the fuel pressure regulator. It was confirmed with me just by turning the key, but not starting the vehicle. The fuel pressure jumps up once the key is turned on, but then drops quickly. I had a fuel pressure gauge hooked into my main fuel line I rented from the local auto store to verify this. Good luck

Did you change the gasket on the part you took off to get to the fiel pressure regulator?

99 yukon. Started chugging like it was starving for fuel at take off in drive but would clear up if down shifted to first on take off somewhat but finally stopped getting enough fuel to start. Checked relay, pulled filter and was getting some fuel there but didn't seem like much pressure. Not sure if its pump, regulator, or?. It will start if I pour a little down the intake. Pump is making loud winding noises but it seems inconsistent each turn of the key.

I got a 1997 chevy tahoe where i think my fpr is shot so i gotta do this. Im also gonna convert the spider injection to the updated MFI injection which i recommend everyone should do who has these type of trucks. And if you have to go through all that hell to get in there replace all the gaskets you can so you don't have to do it again.

Have a 99 tahoe repalced the fuel pump 3 times when new works good but after a couple of weeks it dont want to sart could it be the fuel regulator?
@NickofAlaska6 жыл бұрын
Susie Cantu Absolutely could be the fuel pressure regulator. If your not sure, rent a fuel pressure gauge and connect it in line off the fuel filter under the driver's side rocker panel. I don't remember the exact pressure the Tahoe is supposed to hold when the key is turned "not started" but you'll know it's the fuel pressure regulator because that pre-start pressure that kicks from the pump won't hold. After a few seconds, it dumps down to no pressure instead of holding the pressure for when you actually twist the key the rest of the way to start the Tahoe. Hope that helps. Good luck

There is no other video on KZbin showing 1999 Why not show form the beginning how to do the job? A 1998 is the only video I can find in 2021 and it is a little different setup. I have a bracket that goes over my ignition coil. I have the nuts off at ignition coil but can't get the back side of bracket off, no play in bracket and it's keeping me from the manifold nuts/bolts underneath the bracket.

gunns8412 Just replace my 3rd. fuel pressure reg 3 weeks ago. This one I got off ebay for $30. Its a Delphi, hope it last longer. I think the reason they go bad so quickly. Is the high fuel pressure.

gunns8412 I think it's time for a new fuel pressure regulator. I scan the computer with HP Tuner and it's taking away fuel from bank 2. Also when I start the engine hot. It run raw for a short time.

gunns I noticed you didn't put a vacuum hose on your regulator........ Doesn't it require one? And does it connect to the fuel sensor which mounts on the plastic manifold cover?
@gunns84129 жыл бұрын
It's sits exactly as it is, just plugs right into the side of the manifold there as shown in the video. The bad regulator was just releasing the fuel pressure out of where you would presume a vacuums hose would be attached. I think in this particular application, the fuel pressure regulator only reacts in any case the fuel system is over pressured.

I have a problem with my 97 TAHOE.. it's refusing to start..I've sprayed throttle body cleaner and still no start.. I've checked the fuel line for pressure, it don't even shoot out like a pressured hose.. can it be my fuel pressure regulator??
@gunns84128 жыл бұрын
sounds like yours is more than likely could be the fuel pump. Being that you cracked the line and turned the key on and no fuel sprayed out. Although as a fore thought, double check the fuses and fuel pump relay. I had a buddy replace the fuel pump and learn later it was nothing more than a 30 dollar fuel relay.

@@gunns8412 PLEASE help me if you can. My 99 tahoe won't start. Has spark. I replaced ignition switch harness, ignition switch, ignition module, cam and crank sensors. ...... (Return line going to little box, then to tank ) You can tell it's TRYING to start but won't. It sat fir about 5 weeks. The. Started and ran fir 8 days....niw same shit... No start.... Im in the same boat. Was intermittent(chugging like it was missing on take off). It would run great when cold then proceeded to get worse as it gets hot outside. Limped it around and then it died while driving like it ran out of gas. Added fuel no luck. Tried priming it, will fire but not stay running. If cycling the key/pump sometimes it will fire slightly but not enough to start. Figured it must be pump, relay, or regulator.??

wouldn't you have to put a new gasket to be safe for leaks?
@NickofAlaska7 жыл бұрын
purestress2 it's not the intake manifold, it's the plastic throttle body manifold. it really doesn't retain under pressure fluids like an intake manifold does, the gasket for the throttle body manifold is a reusable rubber one. Although if you damaged the old one you may need to replace it.

If all you did was replace the Fuel pressure regulator, and now it's making different strange noises, it might be worth it to double-check your install, make sure you have everything put back together correctly. I can't think of what a "thump" could be maybe a miss fire, if you're trying to start it and each time it turns it thumps? Did you disconnect any spark plug wires while you were working on it?
@larrywilderson76204 жыл бұрын
Or possibly a dead thump like the starter? Or in the intake? Like Back firing?
