This 1999 Ford F-150 SVT Lightning is finished in black over black and gray upholstery and is powered by an SVT-supercharged and intercooled 5.4-liter V8 mated to a four-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential. Equipment includes 18″ alloy wheels, a side-exit exhaust system, cruise control, air conditioning, remote keyless entry, and a Dolby AM/FM cassette stereo with a CD changer.
The 5.4-liter Triton V8 is equipped with an intercooled Eaton supercharger and was factory rated at 360 horsepower and 440 lb-ft of torque.
Five-spoke 18″ alloy wheels are mounted with 295/45 Goodyear Eagle F1 tires that show date codes from 1999. A spare wheel and tire are stored beneath the pickup bed. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes.

Too bad GM never made a direct competitor to this (despite the ORIGINAL reg cab, stepside Silverado SS 6.0 concept.) I factory ordered an ‘01 Silverado RC SB 2WD with a 5.3. Ran a 15.0 1/4 mile out of the box. Over a second behind the Ford but came at a $10k discount, but still faster than a Dakota R/T.

Does the SVT engine have the same problem the other tri-valve engines?

If it has a three valve 5.4 then yes

The two valve and the four valve I don't believe have the same issues

It's a 2 valve and big problem with 99,00,01 and 02 Gen 2's was the 4 thread heads for spark plugs

These had the 2V heads. But these early ones did have the fatal flaw of not enough threads for the spark plug holes and they blew spark plugs out frequently.

@@jeffsmystic Ford fixed this in 03. But I never understood why they went with the 4 thread heads on boosted engines no less! They already knew that blown out spark plugs was a problem but yet decided to add boost on top of it all.

Nothing beats my 1995 Ford Lightning. Which was stolen by lil LATINO CHOIR BOYS. By the time it was recovered I’d been forced to by a FKN Focus.

I hate to part with my collectibles but,for that truck I would offer myriad baseball cards from ‘74-‘77,two or three old Hot Wheels with the red,white & blue race track (although missing some pieces),a half bottle of Wild Irish Rose (a fine wine) and my neighbor’s well-used (but all highway miles) ex-wife. So,do we have ourselves a deal? Waddya say?
