Thanks for these videos, the end where you explain the number in the bottom right for how bit your cone is, is what I was missing. That’ll at least narrow things down for me

This is the best explanation of how a fish finder works I’ve found on KZbin. As a total beginner I had no idea how to understand the info. On the screen.I now feel ready to get on my boat and use my new Garmin striker 4.Great video.Thank you.

A-Scope is a function of 2D Sonar only
@jammyjammy14957 ай бұрын
Great video! You mentioned the fish close to the bottom get blend with bottom structures, I think that's why I didn't see bottom fish on my striker 7sv. I will turn on AScope to see how it helps. Could you please share more tips on how to find fish close to the bottom on my fish finder? I normally do bottom fishing and sometimes I know for sure there are fishes under my kayak, however I didn't see them on fish finder. Thanks very much!
@1Cast1Fish7 ай бұрын
A-Scope will be helpful, but also play around with colors and see if one makes them pop out more than another. Also adjusting your gain/sensitivity manually can also help sometimes.

A question...please. I just purchased and installed the Striker plus 4. I'm trying to setup the alarm to sound when nearing a weigh point but the system only shows miles for distance. How can this be changed to feet? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks for the help and I enjoy the tutorials.

Thanks for the info, I have an particular issue.. I just rigged up my kayak with a Garmin striker 4 cv and took it out for the first time today and for some reason the traditional sonar would only work if the depth was 10ft or deeper.. while if I tried to switch over to Clearview, the depth would just flash and I would get no returns at all. I tried messing with the gain feature, depth range set to auto, noise reduction turned off, messed with the surface interference settings and made sure the transducer is flat with no gaps as I used your in-hull transducer mount technique with the duct seal if that helps. Thanks in advance.
@1Cast1Fish10 ай бұрын
I would double check your mounting, this is a typical issue if there is an air gap of some type. What type of kayak and where did you mount the transducer? One thing to check is even though the transducer has no air gaps, depending on how your kayak sits in the water it may raise the area the transducer is mounted up...which inadvertently creates a gap. The transducer must still be below the water line...even though its in the hull.

How do you go from the oval-ish A-scope lines to straight lines? Compare 2:40 to 3:00
@1Cast1FishАй бұрын
It's how the return was registered by the fishfinder, coupled with how I slowed down the video and screen at 2:40 compared to 3:00 so you can see the info in slow motion.

Hello Paul, love your videos. I just purchased a Kawasaki jet ski and want to install a good fish finder/gps without having to drill any holes in it. What would you recommend? Thanks
@1Cast1Fish7 ай бұрын
I have never done a jetski install, so I don't want to steer you wrong, I would look up some videos of a jetski install and see what others are doing. I would think there would be a way to do it without holes.

So how do you discern which way to cast, to the left or too the right or straight below?
@1Cast1Fish Жыл бұрын
It is near impossible to know for sure, this is why we now have more advanced sonar like Side Imaging, LiveScope, and 360 Imaging

I just got one of these the other day and turned it on for the first tike yesterday but not in the water when i went to way point the north arrow and boat icon were both facing south. Do i need to re try turning it on in the water and let it locate or should it work out of the water?
@1Cast1Fish5 ай бұрын
You must be moving normally for the arrow to be accurate...it's using your changing GPS location to determine your heading

Trying to figure out how to see the fish in the A scope. I only see different color lines. How do you know what side to cast on?
@1Cast1Fish4 ай бұрын
You will see that the Red lines correspond to where a fish arch shows up on the screen. The brighter lines are stronger returns and if you watch them once you see the lines (Inside the cone A-Scope) you will see the fish arch start to appear on the screen (History)

A-Scope is not a option on CV
@Bass_AF8177 ай бұрын
I’m not really seeing arches on my returns mostly seeing slanted vertical lines representing fish, I found that out because I turned on the fish icon, I also ran into a school of white bass and could see lines running from the bottom but did not look like arches,
@Bass_AF8177 ай бұрын
I might be missing something on my settings? Not sure,
@1Cast1Fish7 ай бұрын
Nope not at all, your settings sound great if you are seeing the fish. So the slanted arch's are fish that only slightly entered the sonar cone and then exited...the streak is because they are likely feeding and changing depth rapidly. This is a good thing to see for hungry fish.
