For Pandora's Authority, it's a very complex one Pandora's Authority allow her to manipulate Causality, the Cause and Effect of certain event. Let's say in the past when Regulus still in his Manor where his wives live, his Fate have multiple fate known as Possibility. Regulus can decide to go in the mission or simply stay in his home. Regulus in fact decide to go in mission to take over Petelgeuse work. Pandora ability in this case allow her to decide which Fate someone will be taken as the Vanity referring to personality of someone that was Cocky and dare to decide other people life. This make Pandora able to decide the Fate that Regulus stay in his home with his wives as Truth and so everything that Regulus does will be cancelled but not fully as the time didn't go back and Petelgeuse already take Authority of Sloth In other hands, this ability have even more detailed stretch. In Petelgeuse battle against Pandora, he have severe headache due to overuse Authority of Sloth when he just recently take it. Headache in sense would likely mess with your focus. Truthfully, Petelgeuse last attack should hit Pandora as it's the possibility of his Fate that he still able to see clearly where Pandora was. In this case, Pandora decide the track of Fate where Petelgeuse's headache hinder his concentration and accidentally hit Fortuna and so it becomes the Truth For Pandora's defense everytime she got killed and looks like respawn as if she use something like Izanagi, I believe it's because she decide her own track of Fate. When Regulus kill her, she was at specific place where the attack will hit her. Simply to say she just decide that she didn't go into that spot and so it becomes the Truth and she never get hit because she was never there. It's also regarding how her Authority work as everything other do as the cause of subject or object that she alter will not be rewinded that means all attack on her are going to miss. But specifically there's some sort of weakness on her Authority. Just because she can dodge any attack, her actual dodging capability are lacking. That's why when little Emilia rampaging and freezing her entire Village, Pandora didn't respawn again around Emilia because no matter where spot she take, approaching Emilia will undoubtedly Freeze her so she take her leaves. That become her Authority weakness is simply a very large area and continous attack that able to harm her, this forcing her to get away from you as it continous she also can't approach you even if she wait as Emilia Blizzard are lethal just for her entering the field. Still, up to this point. You can only make her go away and there's no way to beat her yet

However, my personal opinion is that it is tied to Illusions, if we use the definition of Vainglory. Pandora can probably produce illusions and under certain conditions, she can do stuff like Izanagi(from Naruto) with her illusions that makes it seem like she's rewriting phenomena(which she probably is in a way).

i figured i would chime in here. though i haven't read the light novel. here at least is how i understood her Authority to work. the above long comment is basically right but it can be summed up to, she can rewrite the narrative to something that was also a possibility. So there is a limit. like she can't take away Subaru's ability while still keeping him there since he had the ability by simply being in that world in the first place. Its still beyond stupid broken and i have no idea how you would actually get around something like that even with its limits. So she has to work within the realm of Possibility but possibility is pretty much endless.

Just like what echidna can do as she can make a book of future, sanctuary to save her time (memory of the witches) before she died, and splitting soul (actually not really a soul but memory or a slot of time) to artificial clone. That's why regulus can do a part of that ability too. Regulus can died by making him drowning in a bottom of the sea since he would always drowning every time his time stop ability stopped. Or gluttony ate his memory that's why echidna is most afraid to gluttony second only to satella

useful additional informations: -subaru version of sloth is the only that can phase through object, it does harm him if he uses it to hit living things but doesnt with objects. -regulus second heart is immaterial and cant be damaged by phisical or magical means. another authority or a special ability(like dimensional slash) can cut through it though. -each authority grants 3 powers, so the fact subaru had 2 for sloth, 3 for greed and other 3 for glottony shows he still need to master them properly -daphne authority allows her to spanw mabeasts (up to her own max power and not infinitely strong), one of her eye induce maddening hunger and the other opes a second mouth with which she can eat a being od directly (1hit kill). - typhon cant see if a person is good or not, her authority simply kills those who feel guilty, so she killed plenty of good people too -envy possess an authority that allow her to kill the target should he/she violate one of her rules, bypassing any defenses. we knew it from a q and a with tappei. -greed for subaru allows to absorb pain, injuries, fatigue; share it with those willingly to shoulder it; share mana and abilities buffing all those which emotions and goal are in tune with him. there is no upper limits to the second and third effect unlike the first one.

Think the reason why is due to how Subaru gets the authorities passively instead of directly. Betelgeuse and Regulus got theirs directly in the same manner (a small box with the authority) and they are very overpowered with Betelgeuse being able to conjure multiple unseen hands with the force of a cannonball and Regulus’s makes him invincible and being able to turn anything into a destructive force. Subaru’s came to him passively and aren’t as powerful.

Reinhard pulls mana from around him, so Idk if its "unlimited". Emilia could not use her own magic if Reinhard pulled it from around them, so its subjective. Logically speaking from those examples we know, he could pull the entire mana from one area and share it with others, essentially making it unlimited or near unlimited (depends on the ratio of which he pulls vs what everyone uses at the same time). But at the same time if they were all in an enclosed area, it would be around the same, since they are all limited to the mana around one small zone pulling all the mana around for all of them, again, subjective to how much they use vs how much he can pull.

For more details: Pandora's authority is basicallt Ctrl-Z. She can undo anything related to her. Her death? Undo. Her bringing Regulus to the Elior Forest? Undo (and yes that includes ANY side effects of her bring Regulus to the Elior Forest, hence why Petelguese losing his arm due to Regulus was also undone). If her power was to manipulate reality, then she couldve used it to make Emilia open the door, but she couldnt Sekhmet's unseen whatever is truly unseen btw, as not even Subaru can see it. In the anime, Subaru can see the unseen hand of Betelguese and of himself, but he couldn't even see Sekhmet's authority when she used it Regulus' Little King basically lets him metaphorically "store" his heart next to his subordinate's heart, thus using their heart to beat for him. Meaning, his heart can remain in the frozen state without suffering the side effects since technically someone's heart is beating for him. Typhon's "morality" boils down to this: if you are guilty then you are a bad person and therefore you shall die. Any guilt you carry, whether you are a bad person or not, will cause you to die. The only solution is to not carry any guilt, but no one can do that unless you are some psychopath take this with a grain of salt

Authority of Sloth is not exactly how you described it as. Its an ability that lets Subaru "wipe away tears" as he says so in the shadow garden. When Subaru uses this hand for anything else he gets a backlash. There has been 3 times in the story when Subaru used this ability without a backlash. When he wiped Beatrice's tears when he was dying in front of her Arc 6. When he was comforting a ground dragon to not make noise when they were passing by those bear mabeasts Arc 6. And when he wiped away Satella's tears in Arc 4. So invisible providence is literally just a hand for Subaru to wipe away tears. Its also described as a "an authority not belonging to him" and "an incomplete authority" by Subaru multiple times. Suggesting that he will complete it at some point.

I don't believe the save points are random... I believe they are set the moment he feels he is "happy", or in that moment he is "satisfied" with the outcome... The ending to the Pride If story confirms it for me. Subaru was finally able to die for real after he accomplished his goal and felt satisfied/happy with the outcome. Satella is probably setting up saves (either automatically or manually) at points where he has accomplished what he set out to do. From what I can remember it's always a calm and peaceful moment he gets sent back to or a good result he achieved (but every time after the first he is freaking out and panicking so it is no longer calm and peaceful). Also Camilla's other ability is stated in the novel to have whoever views her to see the most beautiful person they believe exists in the world

Theory: I think the checkpoints aren't random. Like it always update if subaru survive danger but there is a caveat Emilia must survive. I think it is from his promise to Emilia from the first ever loop (Subaru: "I will save you"). It is also evident from sloth if, that if subaru dies there he will return from the old checkpoint since Emilia dies. So yeah, Emlia must sruvives to Satella update the checkpoint and also I think Subaru have envy witch factor but Satella only controls the checkpoint. (Atleast that's what I think).

Some info from arc 7/8 related to this (skip it if u don’t want spoilers): So it’s basically confirmed Satella is controlling the checkpoints we don’t know how or what her criteria for a new one is though now for the actual context Subaru got his connection to Satella cut some time passed and his loops got insanely short and the start point kept moving forward between minutes and hours but immediately after dying while restoring the connection with her he went to a previous checkpoint start instead of the most recent checkpoint start meaning the connection has something to do with when he returns to at the least

@@bikalpsatyal6699 It's not actually confirmed that Satella controls savepoints. All you know is that Subaru's authority changes when he feels love. That's how he even describes this new form of RBD. It's very possible that this is something that comes from Subaru's subconscious, just like Corleonis and Alcorbaru's RBD. After all, RBD has worked against Satella many times and saved Subaru from her in arc4 and arc6. Also, why would she set savepoints in places where Subaru will suffer and die more? We know that she doesn't have RBD. It's been partially confirmed that her authority is related to her shadows because of Reid. So... she doesn't have the power to do that. In fact, she may not have any conscious influence over RBD. After all, the author has said many times that the Witch can never give authority to anyone. So RBD must have been created by its user like other authorities. By Subaru. Of course, there are those who claim that these inconsistencies are because Satella is stupid. I mean.. yeah.. she's almost like one of the dumbest characters in the series.. but most of that information comes from the echidna and she can't be trusted with Satella. and almost every assumption that echidna made about RBD was confirmed to be wrong in arc7 anyway.

Good theory but no. First of all the information about slothif was due to wrong translation. Tappei said that Subaru will never use RBD again there. Subaru will die permanently because he is satisfied there. Of course he can probably come back if he wants to. But the author said he won't. Savepoint basically only cares about Subaru's goal. and it doesn't matter how much pain he will suffer while achieving that goal. As long as Subaru doesn't achieve his own goal, no one can kill him permanently. Not even Satella. (By the way... Don't think too highly of Satella. She has no control over time. Her authority basically makes her physically immortal. She doesn't have RBD either. Her problem is messing with her. As far as we know, only Subaru can kill her. She's also pretty stupid and lacks common sense. She's probably the authority user with the least control over authorities. Maybe comparable to Geuse. She doesn't even have full control over herself. Envy is usually the same way she does. And also in the scene cut in Arc4, Sekhment easily won against Envy/Satella, who was bloodthirsty and couldn't hold back. She easily broke her limbs, grabbed her by the throat and squeezed her and threw her out of the dream castle like trash. There are characters who can physically harm Reinhard. But Satella is not one of them, according to the author.)

Echidna's actions were also the request of this man who gave her tasks. This man seems to be Flugel. He seems to be the one who planned everything. By the way, there is a lot of evidence for the Fugel=Subaru theory. In fact, it's not even a theory at this point. In the tarot cards, Flugel's back view is the same as Subaru. I just learned it. My theory on Vainglory, being essentially excessive pride in oneself, is that it allows her to overwrite reality according to anything she thinks she can do. So you have to make an all powerful god doubt themselves to defeat her. Separately, not substantiated by anything and I’m only up to arc 7(don’t mind spoilers), maybe more so a hope. I’ve thought for a while that Reinhard would make a great final villain. He’s an all powerful figure externally, but is flawed internally, so if events were to occur that altered his mental state, controlled his mind, etc., he could easily become a threat to the world. For Pandora's Authority, it's a very complex one based on my speculation Pandora's Authority allow her to manipulate Causality, the Cause and Effect of certain event. Let's say in the past when Regulus still in his Manor where his wives live, his Fate have multiple fate known as Possibility. Regulus can decide to go in the mission or simply stay in his home. Regulus in fact decide to go in mission to take over Petelgeuse work. Pandora ability in this case allow her to decide which Fate someone will be taken as the Vanity referring to personality of someone that was Cocky and dare to decide other people life. This make Pandora able to decide the Fate that Regulus stay in his home with his wives as Truth and so everything that Regulus does will be cancelled but not fully as the time didn't go back and Petelgeuse already take Authority of Sloth In other hands, this ability have even more detailed stretch. In Petelgeuse battle against Pandora, he have severe headache due to overuse Authority of Sloth when he just recently take it. Headache in sense would likely mess with your focus. Truthfully, Petelgeuse last attack should hit Pandora as it's the possibility of his Fate that he still able to see clearly where Pandora was. In this case, Pandora decide the track of Fate where Petelgeuse's headache hinder his concentration and accidentally hit Fortuna and so it becomes the Truth For Pandora's defense everytime she got killed and looks like respawn as if she use something like Izanagi, I believe it's because she decide her own track of Fate. When Regulus kill her, she was at specific place where the attack will hit her. Simply to say she just decide that she didn't go into that spot and so it becomes the Truth and she never get hit because she was never there. It's also regarding how her Authority work as everything other do as the cause of subject or object that she alter will not be rewinded that means all attack on her are going to miss. But specifically there's some sort of weakness on her Authority. Just because she can dodge any attack, her actual dodging capability are lacking. That's why when little Emilia rampaging and freezing her entire Village, Pandora didn't respawn again around Emilia because no matter where spot she take, approaching Emilia will undoubtedly Freeze her so she take her leaves. That become her Authority weakness is simply a very large area and continous attack that able to harm her, this forcing her to get away from you as it continous she also can't approach you even if she wait as Emilia Blizzard are lethal just for her entering the field. Still, up to this point. You can only make her go away and there's no way to beat her yet

While we don't know much of anything about the Envy authority we can kinda infer some aspects of it. Seems to deal with space and time. Much like with Suberu's Return By Death works as a method of time travel. You forgot to mention one aspect of Suberu's authority though. I seem to recall Aldebaran seems to know what happens after Suberu dies as described during the later half of the arc after child Suburu escapes the prison island place. It seems he doesn't just simply go back in time. The world he used to be in dies along with that version of them. This seems to be something Aldebaran is only aware of. Not sure how yet. Could just be side effect of his authority. It seems he might remember some of Suberu's loops. It's possible Aldebaran retains his memories of the failed timelines because the world ending after Suberu dies would certainly be something that would kill Aldebaran so in that process Aldebaran jumps back to a point of time he's alive. it might explain how he seems to be the only one outside of Echidna, Satella/Envy, and Suburu who knows the full details on how the ability is activated. Roswell kinda knows. He knows Suburu can change time, but he doesn't know how it's triggered. Anyways, so every time Suberu resets, the world ends. It's not really clear though if this is a direct result of Suberu's authority or something the Witch of Envy does herself. But regardless that seems to be what's happening. As for the other aspect of Envy, it seems to involve shadows/shadow hands. They seem similar to sloth's unseen hands but unlike the unseen hands, they seem to be visible and not unseen and thus act as shadows because they are completely opaque. It seems hands aren't strictly a shape they can take given how it's used in the few times we see it where Envy posseses Emilia or when shadows spill out of Suburu near the end of the child Suburu arc. :P As for my favorite authority shown so far, it would have to be Pandora's. We don't know much about it other then she seems to alter the world. But there are hints. My theory is that it's core of operation is on perception of reality and not so much directly on reality itself. Aka is that she can alter her perception of the world. When she does, it basically makes what she wants to happen a reality. Example being when she teleports someone away. The second aspect is the alteration of someone else's perception of reality but unlike the first aspect this one doesn't become reality. It seems to mainly just act as a method of illusion/delusion to the target which seems to alter how someone sees stuff. One example was when she used it to alter what Petelguese was seeing and caused him to try and kill who he seemed to perceive as Pandora but was Furtuna. So my bet is that her authority mainly operations on perception of reality and the target it's used on determines it's effects. As for it's limits it does seem she can't alter free will of others but if she manages to break someone's mind enough and/or drive them insane, she can cause them to do things they wouldn't otherwise do like when after Petelguese went insane after killing Fortuna. She seems able to seal away/alter memories of people too. She seems to seal away Emilia's memories of what happened. Though unclear how and why the contract ending with Puck undid that... She also probably can't bring back someone from death or directly kill someone. Though she probably could kill someone easily via indirect means by saying a large rock falls onto someone for example. That event would then transpire and if the person doesn't dodge it, it would kill them. It could be anything really. Just limited by her imagination really so would certainly make it very hard to escape her wrath if she wanted to kill you. I hope to see Pandora return in the story line in some fashion as there certainly seems to be a lot of mystery around her and her motivations right now.

@@Windycity_353 best guess I could wager for that issue is the series gets pretty deep. The anime is an adaptation of an extensive amount of light novels and they cram as much as they can in there. Sometimes they have to cut content which can make things come out less clearly than they do when reading. The big one I have seen personally is alot of my friends had to rewatch the series before season 3 because there was alot of information which they had forgotten over the 3 year wait. In my personal opinion the series is pretty clear if you are invested enough to pay close attention. There is a lot of moving parts with the time travel to keep up with though.

answer part 2. back to Satella. Minerva was implying that her authority is something that can harm from a distance. her authority is something related to immortality. we know that. physical immortality. she doesn't seem to have temporal power. but since she has Yin magic, she seems to have time-space themed magic. like shadow constructs or shamac. but since Reid can't cut her shadows, her authority is probably related to her shadows. It seems she is incapable of dying even of her own volition. that's what makes Satella hard to deal with. you can't kill her. she regenerates with shadows very quickly. that's why the three great heroes of the past had to seal her. and we only know that Subaru can kill her. it's not really clear how she can do it. it's just something Satella said. she doesn't seem to be physically very strong. but that's not certain. However, in the scene that was cut in arc4, namely the second season, Sekhment broke her limbs without any difficulty or effort, squeezed her neck and threw her out of the dream castle like garbage. She wasn't holding back here because she was completely mad and bloodthirsty. She attacked with all her might. But she is sealed now. It is unknown how much the wise flugel's seal restricts her. Also, her fight with Reinhard would be a stalemate. Reinhard could not overcome her immortality and deal the final blow. Satella will not be able to harm Reinhard either. The author says exactly that. There are also characters who can temporarily harm Reinhard... so... it is up to you how to interpret it. there is also the envy issue. envy is simply Satella's alter ego. It is something that emerged because Satella, like Geuse, is incompatible with her authority. Satella has very little control. she may not have any. she has very little control over her sin genes. she may even be the authority user with the least control. Envy is very unstable, stupid, obsessive, and mostly in control.

answer part 3 Back to the previous topic. Some people thought that Satella could control RBD's savepoints after this... but there are some major inconsistencies. RBD is known to have saved Subaru from Satella many times. arc4 and arc6 are the most obvious examples. Satella couldn't stop Subaru from resetting no matter how much she cried. If she could control the savepoints, she could have prevented them. Also, why would she put savepoints in places where Subaru would suffer more or die more? Rem was just one example. And jealousy isn't a factor here. Satella isn't really jealous. At least not towards Emilia and Rem. Those are just some of the inconsistencies. We have a few theories.

I always find it fun when somebody has a mysterious power that seems limitless, yet they clearly has SOME limitations or they wouldn't need to coerce somebody to help them. Especially if it is much later revealed that there is a fairly simple common theme behind the things that they can do, it's just really difficult to spot unless you know what it is. Basically, I like characters who use their power like a magician, putting on a spectacle while hiding the actual trick behind it.

It might mean it's "not random" as it seems unlikely for 50/50 to end up the same way many times in a row. Maybe it depends on his state of mind would be better said? That's most likely scenario I see for now And it absolutely matters, and is not the same thing. Betting on your opponent to give up after million "victories" and going forward after million looses would make totally different mind state afterwards that can affect his later decisions.
