A minute-by-minute commentary of a seminar hosted by the son of everyone's favorite creatard. This is Part 1 of "They're Both Religions," which is the first session of his seminar "Beginnings." This section deals with the fundamental questions of life. As always, I give the creatards who star in my video the full KingCrocoduck treatment. There will be four parts to this commentary, all of which will be designated in the playlist "Eviscerating Eric Hovind." Enjoy, and don't forget to check out the other videos in this series!

Remember it's not completely his fault, i mean his dad, the infamous kent hovind admitted to beating Eric for being afraid of the dentist when he was like six or something, and then coldly laughing about it and using it as an anecdote in a live talk. That has to cause some sort of mental derangement

4)As for what caused the Big Bang, I don’t know, but we’re working on it. There are several models that have been developed, each one mathematically valid and observationally consistent. There are peer-reviewed journals easily accessible for your convenience that discuss the Oscillating Universe Model, the Eternal Singularity Model, the Virtual Particle in the Quantum Vacuum Model, and the Quantum Tunneling from a Multiverse and/or a black hole Model.

12/17)Time is part of the fabric of space, as validated by Einstein’s general relativity. General relativity also predicts that in an infinitely curved space, like what you’d have in a singularity (which we know existed because of Edwin Hubble’s observations of red-shifted galaxies, the abundance of Hydrogen and Helium in the universe, and the CBR,) time would likewise be infinitely dilated.

"Then the very nature of your deity would be unknowable," Firstly, let us first establish that there is a Creator, and then address the topic of if the Creator is a deity or not. One may or may not be able to know the Creator, but there is still sufficient information to know that there is a Creator. Just as I may or may not know who built the building, but the building, itself, is sufficient evidence to show that there is a builder. Matter can't create itself.

There is hope. As I've said a million times, science has nothing to do with religion. And religion has nothing to do with science. No one would go to a biology textbook to learn about morality. By the same token, one should not go to the bible to expand their knowledge of science.

In the words of Hawking, the earth is an average planet orbiting an average star in an average galaxy. I was stressing the fact that we are not as significant as we presume ourselves to be. I wouldn't call my position spiteful of our species or home; more than anything, the word "humility" comes to mind. It's been said that astronomy is a character building field, and the reason is because one learns just how unimportant one is.

Futureplanet If your question is, "why do we still have all of our ribs?" medical science shows us that the rib is the only bone in the human body that grows back. So if God removed Adam's rib to create Eve, the bone simply grew back. Not to mention taking his rib wouldn't necessarily mean producing offspring with one less rib, the same way a man with only one leg wouldn't produce offspring with only one leg. The genetic coding for creating a child with all his/her ribs (and both legs) is still there.

3)I explicitly stated at least twice in this segment alone that the Big Bang was not an explosion, but rather an expansion from a singularity. The fact that you conveniently chose to ignore this demonstrates that you either did not watch the video, are too stupid to understand the video, or are a liar. Or all three.

(16/17)“Now you must explain from where the 'quantum vacuum' came.” Again, the quantum vacuum existed outside of the framework of time, which renders any question regarding its creation moot. “And "something came from nothing"? What I meant when writing "Nep is a bit harmless" was to set him in relation to others which I find more harmful. The damage Nep does can be repaired - it is a matter of literacy, however how do you repair social, emotional and physical harm that comes as result of dogmatic beliefs? As I see it, in free speech we can except harm done to knowledge, as to say, but not to person.

"...then were did the creator come from?" Good question, my friend. The question 'What created the Creator?' has the built-in assumption that the Creator needs to be created. No. Only things bound by the laws of physics necessarily need to be created. The Creator of those laws would not be bound by them. Don't continue to make the mistake of trying to apply the limitations of the laws of physics to the metaphysical.

@KingCrocoduck
@KingCrocoduck 12 жыл бұрын
So you're defining the metaphysical as the abstract, I'll grant that. However, I would argue that the metaphysical has no physical impact on the world because they cannot interact. To assume that metaphysical created the physical, you would have to discard the definition of the metaphysical because the act of creating something physical is an interaction. And as it happens, matter CAN be brought into existence via state transfer from plasma by the ratio of the speed of light squared.
@InternetDisciple
@InternetDisciple 12 жыл бұрын
"The second idea is that plasma arose in a quantum vacuum from the Cassimir effect- put simply, "something came from nothing."" Again you invoke the fallacy of begging the question. Now you must explain from where the 'quantum vacuum' came. And "something came from nothing"? You got any evidence for that that you could post here?

Jabba Tiure That's a plenty fair statement. I didn't then, and I'm too tired now, :) to go and find how out how far back you'd need to go to find a common ancestor (and then, if we looked at it and studied it, would it be in the same family even, as a frog?). Either way, however, we both agree, I think, what you're saying only strengthens my original argument. I mean, this is the pie in the face of Ben Stein (sad to think I used to consider him intelligent), who says things as stupid as "[anyone with more than 1/2 a brain] claims, and they may be right, I don't know, that a bolt of lightning hit a pond and out popped a fully equipped Boeing 747." His argument is wrong on so many levels it's truly mindboggling. NOBODY (at least nobody who comes down on the scientific side of the house) is claiming lightning struck and suddenly, there was man (much less a 747). That's WAY more similar to the YEC argument... slap a little mud on the "nothing" here, and sculpt man, and then appreciate your artistic nature, but do that from the "nothing". Then, when you run OUT of the "nothing", you pull a rib from Adam to make a woman. It's hard not to laugh in just typing it.

Yup, the place for menial labor is going, going, soon to be gone. Where will Eric get his suckers from then? No, not evolutionists, they're called astrophysicists. They study the cosmos. Evolutionists only work in biology. BIOLOGY. Say it 3 times. If ol' daddy had had H&R Block do his taxes he wouldn't have had to spend 10 years in prison. But I sincerely doubt he learned anything from that except, possibly don't drop the soap. Let's look at that incredible design, Eagles, vultures, bats, hawks can see better than us. Horses have a better view than us with no blind spots. Bats can see in daylight & at night with radar. OOPS. Dogs can smell better than us. Not that kind of smell. Hearing, #1, moths, plus Owls, Elephants, Dogs, Cats, Horses, & Dolphins. Strength, all the other apes are stronger than humans. We can think better than the other animals. Well, some of us.

Right around 13:00 Eric goes into a tirade about not having purpose and being here by accident. *This* is why creationists have so much trouble letting go of the bullshit - ego. They just can't accept that there is no objective reason or ultimate purpose to their lives, and that after they die, they won't be enjoying eternity in the penthouse. But as far as we know, we are just an accident, and the purpose to our lives is that which we give it. As for Eric's morality bullshit... Sure, without a God we're free to run around and do whatever we want. The part I've never been able to understand is the creationist/theists attitude that our desires would be to hurt people and cause damage. It's not only untrue, but makes me very uncertain about the mental state of those making that argument. I'm an atheist, which means I don't believe there's a Christian punishment or reward waiting for me after death. So how is it that I don't have a long police record for all the raping and killing these dipshits claim we'd do? It's because I'm a social, empathetic creature who understands that the benefit of the whole also benefits the individual. And also because I'm not an asshole.
@MrJoeyWheeler

Agreed, there's a LOT of ego in the idea that humans are somehow special, when all evidence we have shows we're really not. In fact as individuals we're utterly pathetic. We can only attempt things no other species can by culminating the knowledge of our ancestors with what we can discover, and even then the actual advancements are made by such a small number of people and everyone else just comes along for the ride.

I have three questions for Eric: Did Noah take a male and female flea on the Ark? Most likely Eric would answer yes because Noah was very obedient. Then I would ask Eric how did Noah make sure and who held their little legs apart?

Is Eric Kent's offspring? (I genuinely don't know) Is that where he came from? Is that why he is here? where is he going? He proves to me that evolution cannot be true (at least not in one generation).

I commend you for putting this series together. I don't know how you can do this for so long, though. Listening to the Hovinds or Comfort is like an exercise in mental endurance; I have to take breaks every few videos just to let my frustration subside. Kudos to you, clearly you're more tolerant than I am when it comes to this haha.

Jesus christ he's like a replica of kent, he has the exact same arguments, the exact same jokes in the exact same places in the script. It's like he just stole his dad's script and called it his own. Holy Shit.

We want the Howind duo to do a debate together that can be fun to watch. In some sense you can say that they don't deserve all the money they trick from brainwashed people, but as comedies they are really good in a sense. Free entertainment is hard to complain against.

cdk007 has a rundown of current Abiogenesis theory if you want to update this. It is my impression that he's an Evolutionary Biologist from what he covers in his videos. His sources wash, so it might be worth looking at. Certainly I recommend his entire Origins series, up to and including some evolution simulators in MATLab. For the specific video, click below. The Origin of Life - Abiogenesis - Dr. Jack Szostak Yes, Eric is an idiot. If it weren't clear before The Debate, it was most certainly clear directly afterwards. When *_Pat Robertson_* gets up at oh-dark-thirty to tell you to shut your trap because you're a disgrace to your religion, then you have a problem. *_Pat Robertson_* Think about that for a minute.

Let's use your dog definition. A dash hound is a species of dog, and in the cases that I presented, we've observed them become different species (i.e, "kinds") over time. If you want to redefine "kind" as a genus, evolutionary theory predicts that enough speciation events like the ones observed already will accumulate variation sufficiently to cause re-classification of genuses. Evidence for this happening is found in phylogeny, ERVs, atavisms/vestiges, and transitional fossils.

Is that the best that you can do? Ross hasn't published in the peer-review a single creationist-related topic. In any case, he's an Old-Earther- he accepts the Big Bang and that the age of the universe is 13.8 byo. His rejection of evolution is based on tired, already-debunked arguments like irreducible complexity and the probability argument. He may be intelligent, but he's also dishonest, and he is NOT a creationist- at least, not in the traditional sense of the word. Nice try.

I'm not the one spamming a page with unbacked assertions and ad hominems, so it's a bit out of place for you to be saying that I sound stupid. And I am well aware that Hovind does not speak for all creationists- I've also attacked Ken Ham, Ian Juby, NephilimFree, and the other weasels who proliferate bullshit. Obviously you still haven't watched my other videos, so frankly I'm not surprised at your fatuity. Now let's play a game... it's called "fuck off." You go first.

Dan, quit your bitching. I'm attacking creationists and fundamentalists, and if you don't like it, deal with it. My arguments against theism are entirely separate from my attacks on Hovind and his ilk. I reserve my scathing tone for the two aforementioned groups, and if you're too lazy to read my bio and watch my other videos, then that's your problem. In berating me for attacking Hovind, you ARE defending creationists and fundamentalists, and that makes you equal to them in my eyes.

I didn't target Hovind simply because we disagree, I targeted him because he is a liar. You claim that I use the same techniques as him without providing examples and imply that this video is an act of bullying and not a legitimate critique, which is demonstrably untrue. And don't think that I didn't notice how you shied away from my observation that you jumped to a flawed conclusion after seeing only one video of mine. I think that the only arrogant one here, sir, is you.

You're a moron. You watch one video and assume that this represents my view of all Christians. I have stated many times in my videos that I have nothing against religious moderates and that I respect them. My very channel description makes it clear that I have nothing against moderates, but rather than do the research, you decided to play the victim. Whatever respect that I might have had for you is gone, and will remain gone until you retract your untenable slanders.

5)To your penultimate statement regarding a city appearing in my hand, all that I can say is, WTF? Perhaps instead of gaining the satisfaction of knocking down a pathetic strawman, you could try reading a book other than the Bible and instead gain some knowledge on the matters you’re attempting to discuss, or at the very least have enough insight on the matter to avoid looking like a complete idiot.

My response is divided into six parts, so read until the end of the sixth objection. 1)Regarding the objection against my answer to the question “Who am I,” a spiritual explanation like the one you demand from me is one that is not open to scientific inquiry. All things within a spiritual context by definition transcend the physical world, hence no objective framework can be developed to give you an answer within a spiritual context.
