Today we show you how to test your ratty old shocks on your 1st gen cummins power ram 250 and to replace them with some very great quality bilstein 5100 series shock absorbers. The part numbers for these shocks were acquired from Geno's garage. The ride quality improved and the road bounce is much less harsh compared to the shocks that were on it when the truck was purchased. I would highly recommend these shocks to anyone who is thinking about purchasing them!
Cheers and stay tuned for more videos.
Tyler,

Old school tip...Clean your threads, dab of anti seize, dad of grease on the bushings to reduce wear, keeps them fresh forever.

Looking forward to meeting w you and your dad at the meet in august. Would have liked to hear what a difference in the ride the new shocks made?

My dad won't be out there at the meet he's living in Ontario still. Looking forward to the meet though! Make sure to send me an email with a pic of your truck if you haven't already! The bilsteins helped dampen things a bit but it's tough to avoid the front leaf spring ride quality.

Did you notice a rougher ride or smoother ride? Usually when shocks are wore out you will get a softer ride with leaf springs and when you put on a new shock it is so stiff that you can feel every little bump

Things were less bouncy that's for sure.

It has been some time since this was posted. I'm completing a full restoration on my 91.5 w250. I am wondering if you would still by the same Bilstein shocks you installed in the video or something different

What is your front suspension setup? Are you leveled in the front any? I’m not sure if these shocks will work with my stock height W250. Thanks!!

So could I essentially measure my current shocks on my truck and then buy some that measure out the same? I’m wanting to put some Fox or King remote reservoirs under it but I can’t find any info on anyone doing it. I’ve got a 1992 w350

Yes as long as the travel of the shocks won't be over extended

I ended up just going with the Monroe shocks for the front end on my 92 didn't really get much of a ride difference for my 2nd gen with the bilsteins all the way around. Might do bilsteins for the rear of the 1st gen I'm not sure.
