Hey Austin...Can you clarify how your Tudor only gained 1sec in a month. I thought it lost 7 sec...
@watchsymposium Жыл бұрын
Hi J G, When I set the watch a month ago, I pushed in the crown, but realized I hadn't perfectly lined up the minute hand with the minute markers, so I quickly pulled out the crown and fixed it (but it took me about 10 seconds to fix). So, a month ago the watch was minus 10 seconds, and running plus/minus 0. After that, I was testing the positioning of the watch at night, seeing if how I laid the watch down while I slept could add or take off seconds. However, the positions didn't really consistently effect the timekeeping. I covered all of this in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qmG2oaOjqbqehsk Fast forward over 30 days and it's still -10. That's without me having touched the crown since setting it back in December 2022. So, it's basically lost or gained just a second or two in the month since making the video I linked above.

I’m reminded of the advice Blueshirt Budda always said,”NEVER SELL ROLEX !” Sellers remorse is so much worse when its hard or impossible to replace. Have fun traveling Austin, best regards.

Austin, I have also been on a Tudor kick for almost a year now...In Feb. 2022 I bought my Tudor BB-58 Blue Dial and is my one and only daily driver... 😋. But very happy and proud owner! It looses ballpark 1-2 seconds per day. You can't beat that considering the affordability of this watch!

I'm gonna try your strategy this year! But perhaps get through a rotation of my watches every 6 months perhaps.

I dig what you're saying about not having regrets by selling pieces. My Rolex collection got up to 12 pieces though and there were some that I just wasn't wearing. So I locked the least loved away for months and then got them out to wear again. It was a test to see if my heart would go crazy with having missed those watches. In the end I sold 3 Rolex and an Omega last year and used the money to fund a new GMT CHNR for my wife. No regrets so far (months later). As for watch angst... I certainly get that. I tend to swing between modern and vintage though. I feel lucky to have a nice selection of both.

I can relate to the watch anxiety. I've sold my shitters thinking my Rolex sat in a box is a waste. On the flip side, I've thought, wearing 15k on my wrist is ridiculous. What's wrong with my Steinhart! I've bought and sold many watches over the years and had sellers remorse, especially my first Rolex a 116610LN. I bought new from an AD for £5700!!!

The reason behind the angst these days is more to do with safety and security than anything else. I'm seriously considering stopping wearing rolex watches completely, people are being attacked in street in broad daylight for their watch. I'm a lot more comfortable now wearing a Seiko SKX009J divers watch.

I totally get and frequently have the “angst”. In my case this is largely driven by the preference/need to fly under the radar especially with my Rolex pieces. I just don’t feel so comfortable out & about with a £10-£15k watch on display anymore. Sad but true.

Interesting concept! I personally change watches daily. Also to wear travel watch for travel is noble for the function. Well done. Cool iconaut!

When I work from home I may change watches 3 times in a day! 😀 To me it's fun. I'd get way too bored wearing the same watch for a whole month!

I’m on a big Tudor kick too - back and forth with BB Pro and Pelagos 39 (just received - incredible). Will mix in a few of my microbrands 1 or 2 days a month. That bright yellow Tudor is sick; might keep an eye out. Icon auto is nice too. Enjoy BKK.

The dial I like is the carbon fibre Hydronaut dial, it has a reflective quality that changes its colour depending on the angle the sun hits it. 👍👍 those Tudor’s are so worth the money a design ahead of it’s time.

Hi. Austin great content ad always. I bought a gmt master 11 brand new in 1997 coke bezel. It traveled the world with me. For 13 years. But. Unfortunately I had to sell. As things got a bit tough trying to. Pay the mortgage but it kept my house for me which I’m grateful for my Rolex but last year I bought a 2002. 16600 Seadweller full set. And I Havnt looked back wear it all the time love it because it’s not too flashy and understated and it’s a damn tough watch.

Hi Austin, I may have missed it if you have covered this topic already, but would really appreciate thoughts & experience with servicing watches. You seem to have done this with your watches, and therefore believe there is value in doing so. With so many variables involved: brand, cost, frequency, longer guarantees up to 8 years for some brands, limited use/wear when rotating your collection, less friction given better materials and less lubrication etc. I just wonder to what extent the cost is necessary or justified. Thanks as always, Paul

Austin, have a safe trip! I’m reminded of the Thailand shenanigans a few years ago when you took your Polar Explorer 2. Good times! I’ve been on a Tudor kick myself and have been wearing my new Tudor Ranger ever since I bought it a few months ago. I think you really should also look into modern Tudor, I know your appreciation of bracelets and you’ll really get lots of satisfaction from the new Tudor bracelet/clasps. No one does bracelets better than the two titans of the Hans Wilsdorf foundation.

Hi, Austin. I was recommended your KZbin channel by another guy in Japan who is into watches, too. He said you may be able to help. I know you're into Rolex, but I'm wondering if you know much about Kuoe watches. I'm particularly interested in the Royal Smith 90-006. I've looked on Reddit, KZbin, and WatchUSeek, but there isn't much information on them. Do you know anything about them, or perhaps where else I can look for information? Thanks!

I also prefer Tudor over Rolex. Its also up there in terms of quality and when you are wearing a Rolex, everyone recognizing it wonders if its a fake. Not so with a Tudor.

Why waste your time with Tudor? Life is too short for mediocrity. Further, why settle for steel. Precious metals or bust.
