That delicious fake banana flavour is based on the old Gros Michel bananas that everyone ate in the 50s. Later in the 50s a disease wiped out huge numbers of Gros Michel banana trees and so they switched to selling Cavendish bananas, which were resistant. And now we all eat Cavendish bananas. They still grow Gros Michael bananas, and they're actually making a comeback in some parts of the world! Now you know.

I have been binge watching his subscription box videos and he brings up the debate around the banana flavour in a lot of them haha. You see, Ashens, the reason they keep making these little chibi-esque big-headed figurines is because they can hire on much cheaper, less skilled/experienced sculptors and painters to do them. If they did proper figurines they'd need very talented sculptors and painters or they'd all turn out like crap. This is also one of the reasons why the really nice sculpts cost hundreds of dollars. They're cheaper to mold too I reckon.

Just in case anyone is curious about artificial banana flavoring. It is based off the flavor of the "gros michel" banana. They were largely killed off by fungus in the 1950s, however you can still find some today thanks to private gardeners efforts to preserve them.

I've started to notice something about Ashen's logo and I'm not sure if I'm the only one who sees it, but his logo kinda looks like a British version of the Nostalgia Critic. Or maybe the Nostalgia Critic looks like an American version of Ashen's logo. Either way the similarity is there, at least to me. Oh, yeah and "Peanut butter and strawberry jelly, that sounds awful". Meanwhile in the US peanut butter and jelly is one of if not the most popular sandwich, gotta love international taste differences especially on this channel.

Banana fact time! The reason why artifical banana taste different is because the banana type they were based off of are sorta extinct, I heard they are still grown in like Singapore. Anyways back in like the 70s a disease infected the existing banana trees of that type, eventually this was called the banana plauge. This cause the USA to switch to a different banana type. The reason why we couldn't just plant some banana trees of the original type is because bananas don't have seeds that do anything. To get new banana trees you have to cut off a branch and plant the branch.

I also started to hate what the companies do by all make the same style figurines with big heads,or stuck up smaller versions in blind boxes.The two pioneers in that style of collectible art (since that's how that style is called) were kid robot and medicom with their well known bearbricks and kubricks.I am sick of see everywhere big headed figurines people,take it from a guy that likes pops.But enough is enough companies please make it stop,it started be really tiresome like freaking downey jr and the fucking iron man suits everywhere and harley queen!

Those peanut butter cups sound amazing!! I use to eat this candies as a kid that were chocolate cups with a thin layer of peanut butter and a thin layer of jelly on them and I kinda miss them but I always felt there was just not enough PB or J in them. Then again this is coming from someone who likes to mix vanilla icing with peanut butter and spread them on those chewy chocolate chip cookies so my sweets tolerance is incredibly high...

I think the best fan items are the things like the metal sign - stuff that you might expect to exist in the universe of the story as a fun little nod to fans, but normal-but-a-little-confusing for people who don't know it. I prefer that sort of collectible to a t-shirt/hoodie/print. Harder to shop for that kind of thing and it's more expensive to make, since it would be an individual new item for each series, but worth it imo.

As a professional baker (17yrs) here in America, I'd like to give some input on the Hide&Seek's cookies. Those can be found in most southern grocery stores. Woah, finally a bulgarian treat in one of these boxes!!! The white nestle wafer is something we have and I don't really understand why Stuart didn't like it. I mean, it's a wafer with extra chocolate (those are the small things of top of it). Of course it's not Swiss chocolate but in my opinion it's far from being bad so if you generally like chocolate chances are you'll probably like it.
