Just got mine in and I can't put into words how awesome it is! The variable speed is a huge asset! It was also very nice to receive the Christian tract that was in the packaging! Would highly recommend!!

I bought one of these off ebay for $500. The build quality is superb. It replaced a Loray electric. I paid for it in one weekend at a farmers market. My go to for speed is a TruHone. But at a FM this machine allows you to put on a show which to me increases sales. I give a 30 day warranty and it takes me less than a minute per blade. My competion is usually either stones or the paper wheel. I always charge at least $2 more per blade. They dont guarantee their work and I do. If you are wanting to do blade sharpening to make $$, this machine will do it.

I own one of these sharpeners, and I can tell you that it is simply awesome, for not only sharpening old knives but also setting the cutting edge on new knives then making them razor sharp and ready to sell. One of the best tools in my shop.

I'm really pleased with this! It works like a charm kzbin.infoUgkxDcr-y2Pf6xdnrFHrSP7dl9kpKaCozcSQ Takes less time than my old electric sharpener because it can take more off the knife faster, and then it smooths out nicely with the finer grit polisher. I don't know how long it will last before the grit wears away, but I wouldn't mind having to replace it every once in a while.

Nice solution for your angle control and your variable speed. It's clear you guys have thought about this.

What motor is that? I'd like to source one for another project I'm working on.
@johnsmith46305 жыл бұрын
fact is that the angle guide system will result in a variable angle on curved edges. The angle at the tip will be slightly different than at the base. It would still provide the consistency to make a fine edge, of course. It is just that it might not translate well to a field sharpener.

can it sharpen a small pen knife like a leatherman muit tool

Like the design and function of this machine. But I have noticed some sharpeners don't use a platen which creates a convex edge. I personally don't think that is the sharpest edge. I agree it makes a stronger edge but I won't be sharpening axes on the unit. A knife used for slicing tomatoes doesn't need a lot of strength. What is your opinion?
@WeberSharpening Жыл бұрын
That's the beuty of this machine. You can use the platen or go slack. Fast or slow. Edge leading or edge trailing.
@mprice76767 жыл бұрын
You should design an 'L' shaped angle rest to make the rod hang directly over the belt so that you can sharpen items that can't be mounted perpendicular....like woodworking chisels.
@blistersteel6 жыл бұрын
Matt ,how do you reverse the belt direction? Is it a quick button push or something else?

There is a small switch on the back of the machine. Not as quick as a button but at least you have the option.

*I got this last week and used it already for pipe making/shaping. It is good for shaping briar blocks for pipes after initial block cutting. It is not noisy, and works very well.>>>**0rz.tw/p5d0** There is not much assembly required and it is very easy. The only caveat to be aware of is that the plastic dust cover under the round sanding disk table has a notch which makes it impossible to screw into place - manufacture mis-measure of this specific plastic part. You will need to get a small file and file this notch off then it goes into place as smooth as butter.*

Now it's 850! But if you compare to the tormek, just the machine is 850 and all the jigs sell separate and cost a fortune. I bet by the time you go all the jigs you would be $2k at least. Place wheel maintenance looks annoying and the wheels are hundreds.
