2006 Accord, 2.4L, 289k miles, took the old PCV out like you did-moved clip, pulled off the hose, used the wrench-very snug on there to get the old one free, and it looked about the same as yours. Then I put the replacement in hand tight. I used the same torque wrench. I found it was supposed to be at 33 lbs....like you had it. I was nervous, so I set it lower. Turned the bolt, heard a crunch and then the wrench had no tension. Yep, the PCV broke right in half! Now I have to get bolt/screw extractors to hopefully get this thing out. What the heck? I did the same thing you did, but I didn't need the extensions because I had the plenum off to change the starter. I don't get it. At least I know I was trying to do it correctly. ...and yes, I know my torque wrench works. Thanks for the video, it was very helpful.

You're about the 5th person I've seen online (Amazon reviews) that has tried to torque it to spec and sheared it off. I think something is wrong with that torque spec.

Same for me no way it’s 33ft-ibs. I broke a pvc valve

You're supposed to tighten it by hand until it it stops turning. It's like tightening the oil drain plug. You dont need a torque wrench

Thanks for video, easy do it. Does it require light oil lubrication, when new one is installed? What year is Honda Accord - 2007, 2008 or 2009? Do you recommend to replace it on 125K miles, as a part of maintenance?
@MotorHead183 жыл бұрын
It’s an 06, and should be included in your preventive maintenance schedule! I didn’t give it any lubrication

I don't see a reason to torque it accurately, its not like its holding anything down. It just needs to be snug enough to seal and not unscrew itself and rattle loose.
@MotorHead18 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, absolutely. Though there are some torque jockeys out there!

misfires, lean or rich check engine light codes, high or rough idle, rough acceleration. Very variables though.

Where does the other end go of the hose and can a PCV cause misfires when accelerating
@MotorHead184 жыл бұрын
No, I really don't think a shot PCV can cause misfires. My first thought would be spark plugs.
