DunDun Symanski Thanks so much buddy. It’s people and comments like this that keep the videos coming. I’ve abandoned so many videos after haters or the negative people chime in at the perfect time. We have enough content to make way more videos.

That was some bad rod knock at the beginning of the video. Do you guys rebuild engines or is it cheaper to just replace them?
@wackomanx5 жыл бұрын
It's such a horrible sound. I had a 1999 Civic EX and the engine started knocking from around 2,000 rpm to 2,500 rpm. Once I was over 2,500, the engine wouldn't make a sound. From the point where it started knocking until I parked it in the driveway was such a sad drive. I think it had 136K on the D16 when it let go. It was a completely stock Civic and I babied that car. I tore apart the bottom end and the rod closest to the transmission was bent. My father bought the car for me so it was under his name. I sold my 1992 Integra GSR and paid him back. I didn't think much of having the title put in my name. When it came time to fix it, I wanted to put a SOHC from HMOTORS in it but my dad made some deal with a guy to rebuild the original engine. I had to pay the guy 800 to rebuild it and install it because I worked so much. That was about the same amount to have a low mileage SOHC shipped. The guy ended up screwing my dad over and never finished rebuilding it. I was furious that I lost the money from when I bought it and the 800 I just spent to get it back on the road. Now I drive a 2013 Toyota Corolla with 50k miles. Haven't had a problem with it.

@LHTPerfomance Did you guys ever diagnose the knock and its cause? I have an 03 AP1 with 68k miles that has a knock that is persistent (present when cold, get a little quieter when warmed up, and back to original volume after driving). I've done a valve adjustment already. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I know you guys do not have the tech Wednesday’s anymore, but if you are ever looking for content, a review of the starter would be nice - I see a good shot of the starter at 3:42 - I understand there is something on the s2000 starter that wears out over time and causes a noise when the car is started for the 1st time in a while.

Have it shipped there, leave it for the week, vacation in the Keys, pick up and drive it back home with over 400hp at the crank:-) Florida Keys/Key West are awesome and these two guys are some of the best. Been in the industry for 30 years and finding a great mechanic who is also reliable, trustworthy and anal/OCD about their work is extremely hard this day and time. Just a thought and a super nice car to start with. I would have to ship my car there as well, but I vacation in the Keys every year, so the temptation is great.
