You're absolutely correct about an NA car... Bolt-ons, tuning and some cams are the best/ only mods if you aren't throwing a snail on it. O7K FTW! There's a reason they're one of my favorite 'newer' VW/ Audi powerplants. Even when I was turning wrenches at the multiple stealerships I was at and the O7K was brand new there were like no issues with them. They're super reliable and the sound!!! Yeah 87 is trash. Throw some premium in it and the car will thank you. Not to mention the difference internally compared to a car that's been run on shit gas to one ran solely on premium. Here in NY we have 93 and that's ALL I EVER RAN. Not just on a car with a tune or a chipped EPROM where it's mandatory but everything will benefit from the better fuel. I think Spinni needs to throw a 3071 or similar 'SpinniBOI' on that thing. Keep it close to stock on the outside with a set of lightweight wheels/ sticky tires, some coilovers/ bushings, brakes and it'll be a sleeper, looking like it's basically a stock 2.5 Golf. Magnaflow makes one of the best aftermarket/ universal application mufflers. They last a while, are cheap, and sound great. Same thing with the Vibrant 'Stealth' cans. Another great choice. Just switching to those mufflers/ mandrel/ larger diameter piping, and no crush bends makes a huge difference. Good vid, definitely enjoyed it. Appreciate the share!🙂💪👍

I did 167whp with cai, high flow cat midpipe and larger exhaust. I later got a um tune but I never dynoed. I'd say 175-180whp at best (fast enough to smoke a 2.0 brz with an intake lol). Fun enough in first and second and sounds amazing which makes it unique. No means is it fast though.

@@COMotorsportsI meant 07 or 08, my b. And not much really. IIRC, the 2008 version came with 170bhp. And the 2007 did 150bhp. So was just curious if vw fudging numbers or not. Love these 07k engines
