It's always nice to see an AWD Corrado. I own one, build up in 1996 wich makes it probably the oldest AWD one in the world and most certainly the second build one. Started as a syncro with an G60-16V engine but changed to haldex (4motion) in 2017. After several other types of engines and gearboxes I now have an n.a. turboed 07K under the hood. Specs: turbo EFR 71/63, max. hp 457/6600/min, max torque 557Nm/4500/min, max boost 1.29 bar, manual 02Q hybride gearbox (KZV gears, GRF finals) . Hp and torque are limited because of the clutch and DMF, petrol 98 octaan. In my opinion it's the best combination you can have in a Corrado!.

Sounds like a great setup. 👍
@stefvandenboogaart78932 жыл бұрын
@@COMotorsports Yeah, it is indeed. The n.a. 2.5 5 inline engine is in the car since 2013, at that time fully OEM with the twin scroll Borg-Warner turbo sitting on certain Volvo models. I could get this turbo very cheep and it was just to try out if I could get everything working. With this turbo and the OEM engine I got at the end 405 hp @ 6500/min and 490 Nm @ 4200/min.in 2015, started however with almost 300 hp in 2013.At that time with an hybride 02S/02C 6 gear gearbox, (JWX x GQM x 02C bell housing and differential because of the golf 3 VR6 syncro drive train). All together a very good and nice combination but limited because of the engine, gearbox and syncro strength. The engine sitting in the car right now should be good enough for 700 hp, the gearbox is because of the car weight (1265 kg) good for about 600 Nm I guess. The limitation now is caused by the DMF and organic clutch plate. 0.1 bar more boost on the dyno during the tune brought already 60 Nm more torque! I would'nt stress the driveline till the end however. To be honest, 450 hp and 550 Nm are more than sufficient for the car, it's only street drived.. A pity you are "a bit to far"😉 to show the car and have some talking. Feel free to ask more questions about the car.

Awesome build, very unique. But curious, if goal was only 350whp, why put a turbo capable of 700whp? Seems like its missing out on a lot of midrange power a smaller turbo would do and still make same peak power. Did you work with vvti a lot?
@COMotorsports4 жыл бұрын
Cause the goal was not 350whp... but you gotta start somewhere. Getting this engine in this chassis, turboinging it, AWDing it, bagging it, etc etc is not a cheap adventure. So sometimes you have to cut costs where you can, in this case consider it proof of concept. This was started 7 years ago, before many were doing these swaps... now that it's all come together it will likely get the engine it deserves. However 350whp and AWD in this car would be a wicked fun car.

couldnt you get a 3.2 vr6 into it then along with the a3 quatro system , and make a proper job of it ,,, tat aside , well done I really like Corrado's.
@COMotorsports3 жыл бұрын
Why overcomplicate things, and ruin the car more then needed. This fits easy and works. True quattro is a lot more hacking.

@@COMotorsports we dont get that engine over here in the uk , it looks like a great conversion , Ive owned a few 5cyl motors , Volvo and Audi and loved them , its the noise .

Must be boring not being able to turn the boost up
@COMotorsports4 жыл бұрын
Nothing boring about that power in a relatively light car. Also its way more exciting then the previous 8hrs working through all the issues. So yes getting to this point is always exciting.

@@COMotorsports were you able to dial in variable cam timing with VEMS on those pulls?
@COMotorsports4 жыл бұрын
@@mushasho There was no time left. The car is from 5hrs away from us. We did everything we could with the time we had with it.

Ironically we have one on deck, which we're going to try and film. Unfortunately it will be just street tuning and going over the build. But it's a pretty extensive setup.
