Wow, I love both of those! I was just reading the store descriptions and it says this for the mirror coating: "Make sure not to use Glaco Mirror Coat Zero on heated mirrors or mirrors with other coatings! The product is intended exclusively for use on standard car side mirrors and reversing cameras.". That's a pity because mine have an auto dim coating and are heated and I suspect many people have one or both of these functions. Still, nothing to stop a normal glass repellant being used on the mirrors. At least, I hope that's OK as it's what I do ... Seriously considering the W-Jet but I'm, "between glass coatings" and waiting for your mega test!

I’m always sceptical about using any hydrophobic solution on my windscreen in case I get wiper blade judder (as I do on my rear screen). Anyone else have this problem?
@alau0115
@alau0115 Жыл бұрын
I have been using various rain repellent products (of Japanese origin) on all glasses for decades and haven't encountered blade judder except some rain repellent which are made of other formulas that either make it more durable or thicker (eg. Polish Angel Rain 9H). The reason for blade judder is because the wipers are made to be in close contact with the windshield and any coating/rain repellent added to it could cause too much friction. Solution is available - you just apply the same rain repellent to the wiper blade or there is actually a product that is applied to the blade and it is specifically designed to solve the blade judder issue for the situation when the rain repellent is not recommended to be applied to the wiper blade material. Basically, if you try out a new rain repellent product, just apply it and see if blade judder occurs. Some product (eg. Kamikaze KMKZ Window Coat) does recommend you apply the same product to the blade in their instruction.
@mgzw90
@mgzw90 11 ай бұрын
Yes always! Rear wiper judder (even if a new blade is treated too). I found front screen terrible at night as it leaves micro droplets reducing visibility. I only use it on side windows and headlights

I have extensive experience with all these types of products, first tried Rain-X in 1990. Anyway, nothing is as slippery as fresh Rain-X. That first week or so, Rain-X is a miracle. After a month, it's all gone. The newer products, like Glaco, last much longer, but the repellency is like 2-3 week old Rain-X. My present favourite is Meguiars, because it's like 2nd week Rain-X, and lasts 6 months. That equates to 15 thousand miles for me. Glaco comes close, but the clincher for Meguiars is that it's the one that is least visible in strong sunlight.

Hi Jon another excellent video 👍 I feel that you have covered how to clean the pad on the compound I just can’t find it, 😂 I just sprayed it with surfex neat and rinsed it for a while. Is there another way? I am about 4 months into Glaco ultra and it still going really well, after the wash process is it safe to use a window cleaner or will that effect performance?
@ForensicDetailing
@ForensicDetailing Жыл бұрын
have bucket of water and when you swap out the pad stick it in the water so the polish does not dry in the pad. Then later on spray surfex on it at about 10 to 1 and blast it out with a garden hose on a jet setting. the pressure from the garden hose is enough to flush the polish out the pad. then jam pad in a drying towel and press down in a sandiwch and that gets it 99% dry.

Glaco Mirror Coat Zero is a bit pointless. You can use regular Glaco like you use for windscreen. Works great for me.
@alau0115
@alau0115 Жыл бұрын
The reviewer has provided a somewhat confusing description of this product (he said " ultra hydrophobic"). Glaco Mirror Coat Zero is to make the side mirrors hydrophilic so that the surface will be free of any water droplets. Visibility gets improved for side mirrors when there are no water droplets. It is particularly true if you back up.
@ForensicDetailing
@ForensicDetailing Жыл бұрын
No it's ultra hydrophobic you can see that much from the water flying off it.

I bought the mirror glaco. I followed the instructions to the letter and it gave a slightly milky/foggy finish. Even after 48hrs this was still present. I messaged the (eBay) seller who advised me to lightly wipe it with a microfibre (my softest cloth, wiped as light as possible) which I did, all this did was remove the coating. I was told to reapply with minimal spray, still milky/foggy. IMO it’s not good - don’t buy it! This has NO reflection on this FDC - which is ALWAYS properly great!!
