Just remember- these three are the just the rhythm section for the band. I say just, as any other band would kill for the skills of these ladies.

I have come to feel that these three are three fifths of the rhythm section. The way that they express rhythms is scary. They pass them around like a tray of snacks. Totally amazing.

Akane was so nervous for this. Not only had she to use those bundled drumstick that she did not felt comfortable with, but the singing was terrifying. The fact is that all of them sing really well, and I'm not the only one wishing Akane, MISA and Mincho would sing much more!

Always remember Miku is singing the lyrics she has written!!! In her teens she worked multiple jobs to pay for her voice lessons. Most important she is the band's Spokes Pigeon

This song is based on Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet”, and the English title “Nightingale” refers to the line by Juliet saying “It was the nightingale, and not the lark.” Also, Japanese title “Sayonakidori” is written as “小夜啼鳥” in Japanese, which combination of phrases “小”=“sa”(small), “夜”=“yo”(night), “啼”=“naki”(singing/crying), “鳥”=“tori/dori”(bird).

from JAPAN. Thank you for reacting to the two versions of ‘Sayonakidori’. BAND-MAID's arranging skills are outstanding compared to other Japanese rock bands. As you probably already know, there is nothing BAND-MAID can't do in performance. This is one of the attractions of BAND-MAID. Vocally, MIKU also captivates us with her sweet angelic voice, which is different from SAIKI's. Also, the harmonies between SAIKI and MIKU are excellent. Not to mention the instrumental performance skills. BAND-MAID released a new album on 25 September, which you should listen to.

In the acoustic version of this song, the key is lowered a semitone, and the highest notes are sung in falsetto, making it more lyrical. It's also a rare chance to hear Akane's backing chorus, which we don't normally get to hear. It's also fun to hear MISA's freely moving bass instead of a guitar solo. In contrast, in the band version, the already tough highest notes are carried through without falsetto. Despite Kanami's technical tapping support, the vocals are on the verge of breaking down, which gives the impression of further emphasizing the anger and pain of the song. In the end, I love both versions😊

As much as I love the acoustic version the normal version is just epic. You can’t remove Kanami’s brilliant lead work-which is amazing in this song-and not miss it a little bit.

Kanami composed this song with the intention of pushing Miku's abilities, and she obviously came through like a champ. Now you should check out Miku's "Cluppo" side project. 😀

Excellent review! Every Maid CAN sing. Yes even the Barefoot Assassin! She played guitar and sang in one of her early bands. You picked up on the poetic nature of the song. It is based on a scene from Romeo and Juliet regarding the song of the nightingale. Thus Miku penned these beautiful lyrics inspired by William Shakespeare. Two poets separated by centuries and thousands of miles but both writing about the human condition. I wonder when BandMaid is no longer on this planet will future generations be touched by Miku's words and the music of the Maids?

"Sayonakidori" = Nightingale. It's Miku's take on Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare. In the play, one can hear the nightingale's song drifting through evening scenes. In one of Shakespeare's most well-known bird references. The Nightingale reference is "Juliet mistakes the lark's song for the nightingale's, hoping that her evening romance with Romeo can continue. Romeo corrects her and departs her bedroom at dawn". The small pigeon is an absolute poet. And an absolute rock star!

Great two-for reaction. Both versions are awesome in their own ways. Miku's vocals shine in the acoustic version. And how can you not love Akane on backing vocals. Amazing how strong and full 60% of Band-Maid is. In the full electric version, Kanami doing Kanami things...especially love the outro solo. MISA and Akane always solid in both versions, although as the 3 piece MISA does shine on lead bass. PO!🕊 🤘😆🤙

Fun reaction PoppaW! Bonus points for noting Akane singing backup in the acoustic version (many reactors miss that). She and Misa rarely sing, but they do now and then, especially on gang vocal parts. Only Saiki and Miku do leads, but Kanami does a lot of additional backup vocals (and primary backup vocals on the live acoustic for Puzzle). Yeah, I love the intensity with which Miku sings as she hits that high note, and on the hard-rock version, how Kanami punctuates it with a really great guitar solo.
