The struggle is real!😂 I work like you do even talking to the pages 🤣. I struggle to mass make for speed but I have a hard time. I love this series. I did think I would prefer the grungy journal. Surprisingly I enjoy the lightness of the clean journal. This series is pushing me to to see things in a different way. Thank you for setting fire to my creativity ❤

Thank you, Luise for your thoughts on personal style. I must admit I thought for a long time that I must find my style of art so I could focus. But, I am an intuitive creator and one day I’m doing this and the next I am doing that. I love to experiment and I guess that is my style! I am happy with that, so I agree with you on doing what is most pleasing to oneself. Our best art comes from being freed up to do what we please.

"Your style is now" - Love that quote! I'm still exploring and trying new things, new materials and new supplies. I'm experimenting in my art journal, in my junk journal, and even in writing in my journals. I don't think I'll ever stop playing and experimenting, and that's ok too! "The only important thing is that I'm happy with that" - Louise, you are officially going to be quoted in my journal now. Such a great reminder! 💜

This series is so valuable to me. It's really helping me to get new ideas for how to approach the construction of a journal. I especially like that you talk about more than one approach to things (mass make versus putting the pockets and tucks together as you go) without judging those who chose a different way. Thanks for sharing your creative process with us.

Dear Luise, you are reading my mind. Lately I look at my crafting and find myself, telling myself, I haven't found my style yet and here you are putting my mind at rest. I've thought finding a personal style was important but it's different knowing your style can be anything on any day. Thank for speaking your words of wisdom and experience. Have a wonderful day! Jill

I agree with others that your detailed videos are a wonderful teaching experience - advanced level. I have learned so much from you about color and design! Just watching your process of choosing the placement of the embellishments add so much to my knowledge. I work with loose signatures as well. I don't know how big my spine needs to be or what the cover should look like to coordinate what ever is the final product. Thank you for your generosity.

Luise, I feel like I have been set free! When you talked about it not necessarily being important to know your style, I felt like I wanted to shout hallelujah!! I just want to touch and play with the papers. I don’t care about having a style. For the first time in my life I’m not tied to a job I don’t really love. I have the time to create and enjoy the process. You have helped me so much to enjoy the ride. I will never be able to thank you enough but I will appreciate you always. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your generosity with your time and for the sharing of yourself. ❤❤❤

Thank you for this video! I agree with most of what you said!! “My style” has certainly changed over time! That’s okay and I keep learning new and fun techniques! Yay! Sometimes I think that maybe I have a split personality because I like such a variety! Even though I am much more of a “clean journal” person, it is still interesting to see other styles and possibly incorporate some of those ideas into my work!💕

Talking Papers! Speaking to Papers! Love love love 🥰🥰🥰! The creative process is so very unique to us all, but some aspects are so very similar too. I agree with you about the signatures too! I too bind at the end, because I re-visit every page in every signature many many times before deciding (in that creative process) that they are then ready for binding. And like you said, I'm revisiting all pages in signatures because I'm experimenting and trying new things..... because that creative process is flowing! Thank you for sharing and taking the time/effort to film! Love having your videos on while I'm pottering away on my own creative works. 🤓

Thank you for sharing your process. I'm learning a lot. I just started a small journal that is vastly different from what I've been doing. I'm combining my love for junk journaling with my love for mixed media and different styles of collage papers. Like you said, one style today and another one tomorrow. 😊

Hi hun, another great video. I totally agree about making ephemera ahead of time because then you end up with ephemera that you may not use in years, so I only make my ephemera to what journal I’m making at that time. And yes you can pretty much look at a photo and know who made it for sure. I would love to own a journal from you and Barbara. Love you girls. These are super good videos for anyone. Your doing an awesome job.

I really love this series! I am benefitting from the level of detail, because even if I don't decide to make something the same way you make it, the detail helps me think through my own decisions about what I want to try. P.S. I agree with you about the mass making. I have tried it several times, following what I see on videos, and then I find that a lot of what I make doesn't necessarily fit all that well with any journal I make later. The best is if I am making maybe three different journals at the same time, with different colors and/or themes, and then I use the inspiration from the mass making to make that general type of pocket or bellyband for each journal, where I already have the pages.

In my opinion, I think a "style" emerges if certain " go to's", whether stencils, digitals, or even the colour applications (such as distress inks and never acrylic or water colours)becomes repetitive. Then a "style" becomes recognizable. I love old and new photos, magazine pictures, book pictures, cut outs, bits of collage materials that are not fodder (like an old pattern, gift wrap or tracing paper, etc) ...incorporated into my "junk" journals. That actually describes my journalling style😂 to a degree. Other than 2 tags I have sent to you, marking subscriber levels, I rarely use a digital😮 and then only a butterfly. Lol. But that doesn't mean I will never, so this is true for me: whatever a crafter is creating is what is inspiring and beautiful to her or him in that stage of and moment in their journalling journey. Style? Well ... maybe?!? Its open for change! 😊

Oh my goodness - I just had an 'ah-ha' moment! I'm sitting here trying to decide where to place some special emphemera in my 'summer journal', but not really wanting to 'commit' to all of the things right now. If I feel certain, I will glue the item in straight away, but if I am uncertain, I might use a small piece of washi tape to hold the item in position until I do decide. However, whilst watching this video, I've realised that I could also use a paperclip to temporarily secure the item. What a revelation! Lol. 😂 Thank you so much. From N.Z. 💚

I am loving this series about junk journaling. I look forward to each new video you post. At some point in your process, do you add something to the inside of the pages?
@luiseheinzl
@luiseheinzl Жыл бұрын
Yes, but I don't care about on which side I work in this stage. Because often I also flip the pages, fold them to the other direction and then the embellishment is inside, do you know what I mean?

Hi Luise, I would love to use some of your digital downloads. I have an ink jet printer, it is old. I have not had much luck with printing images onto copy paper, watercolor paper both of them react to wet mediums after. Glue spray made the ink bleed or smudge. I left them to dry overnight. Please help, I love your designs. They are amazing. Your work is totally inspired. 🥰

I always work backward: starting off with making ephemera, getting the paper for the signature(s) sorted, then stencil and stamp that, then go ahead and folding pages up or in to make tuck spots. Then I measure and see how wide the spine needs to be. Then I make my cover and sew in signatures and place ephemera in. I think this question can only be answered with "it is a very personal and unique thing". No rules in journaling. You will find different processes as you continue making journals.

I am learning that I would do better, and not hoard so much if I would create my journal first, then make the ephemera. However it is a tough balance because I get inspirations in such interm ittant spurts! LOL! Thanks for sharing your thoughts. It helps me sort it out..

So informative and inspiring... color, layout, design, style, for plain, junk, whatever... LOL. Everything is so helpful and creative. I agree with @nikkithenertherlands3552 below... "the only important thing is that I'm happy with that" a nice journaling motto"... and I think that way because I also agree it corresponds directly with what you said Tim Holtz said... "Your style is now". I am loving this series... I learn things with each video and appreciate it so much.
