That second tip is nuts. I didn’t realize I had so many tick throw set ups on my character, never used them. The day i incorporated them I went up 50-100 MR. The way you showed how to identify the why in the first tip was really useful. Thank you for the content Chris!

Fantastic advices. I'm currently in this plateau of learning a new character and get everything consistent and optimal. This part of George Leonard on mastery is also very useful : "How do you best move toward mastery? To put it simply, you practice diligently, but you practice primarily for the sake of the practice itself. Rather than being frustrated while on the plateau, you learn to appreciate and enjoy it just as much as you do the upward surges. … Contingencies, no doubt, are important. The achievement of goals is important. But the real juice of life, whether it be sweet or bitter, is to be found not nearly so much in the products of our efforts as in the process of living itself, of how it feels to be alive. We are taught in countless ways to value the product, the prize, the climactic moment. But even after we’ve just caught the winning pass in the Superbowl, there’s always tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow. If our life is a good one, a life of mastery, most of it will be spent on the plateau. If not, a large part of it may well be spent in restless, distracted, ultimately self-destructive attempts to escape the plateau."

This guide found me at the most perfect time. I've been in a plateau with Ryu for a while now, so this video really encouraged me. Your other guides have been a ton of help with making me into a better player also. One of the best fighting game channels out there imo, thanks Chris!

I like how you apply the replay takeover and watching the frame advantage count. Any match I watch, my own, my friends', or top tier players, I often ask, "is that real?". No need to ask anymore! I should study replays using the overhead frame count display, and then takeover the scenario in question.

one thing that i always find hard is to find resources for what is correct and what should be learned. sometimes i might just think that what i need to learn is right in my head, but then it just ends up being me practicing something that isn’t correct in the first place.

Once again, great tips! I've been in a bit if a rut lately myself, so this is some good advice to try to get out of it! I certainly ask myself a lot of "Why"'s about things. Three extra "Why"'s thet I also ask myself: "Why did my opponent know", Why didn't I know", "Why didn't my opponent do this", and "Why did my opponent do this". But, I can struggle to find the answers sometimes. You ever encounter times where it's as if you just can't process what's happening fast enough?
@Chris_F9 күн бұрын
Yes absolutely that’s why you should watch the replay and ask yourself those questions!

I have fear of doing ranked right now, i'm practicing only through casual matches and lab, but i'm not in the process of doing breakdowns of my replays. I'll try these things to structure new gameplans and styles, especially with a bit of experimentation. Mai seems a cool character to revive my interest in sf6 and i want to try her, she may became my sub after guile

I need to do more step 1 and 2, but I also gotta stop playing tired. I nearly dropped a second rank in a week. Shit’s hard with a physically and mentally draining full-time job. Upside, I realized between the first and second fight why A ‘hard-to-get’ beat me. In the second fight, I hit and run just like he did, and he ran after losing. I’mma call the defeated one-and-done my victory.

Trying to play this game when you’re tired is an act of self-torture. Do not recommend although I’m guilty of this too

Good subject, & example of replay takeover on a loss. Like the DR>throw you did. I'm not usually sure what's real or not, but can identify spacing, AAs, DIs, meter usage, etc. Sounds good on mastering a new thing, including writing it down, & maybe getting it 10x in a row in training (I hope). Wonder what I should do? Maybe shimmy since you had a vid recently. I like B.Hub over casual, since I can look for people at my rank. Interesting how long a plateau can be. One lasted years in SF5. 🤔Wish I could play more often. Thanks. Nice vid. 🙂
@Chris_F9 күн бұрын
Shimmying is a great thing to practice, it really becomes important from diamond and beyond
@verbatim750810 күн бұрын
Here's what's gonna happen-you're gonna identify that you need to work on your AAs or something. You're gonna drill AAs in training mode until you feel a little bit more confident, and then you're gonna practice against real people in Battle Hub. Guess what? None of your opponents are ever going to jump. That's just how it works in my experience. You wanna practice something, but none of your opponents are going to let you. Therefore, I would personally recommend having a second thing to work on just in case, like spacing or something, because you're gonna face opponents who just never do what you're trying to counter in the first place and it's gonna be very frustrating.
@Chris_F10 күн бұрын
Try to fight against characters that are more likely to do what you’re practicing. Cammy WILL jump
@remylebeau3410 күн бұрын
😂 I had exactly that experience, wanted to work on anti airs when opponents jump out of the corner, since everyone kept doing it to me every game, suddenly nobody wanted to jump anymore
@dpwhale10 күн бұрын
Also consider the fact that since you WANT them to jump, you may be playing in a way that makes it obvious you are waiting for a jump and they just are not taking the bait. You will have to actively make them want to jump by throwing fireballs or frustrating them in neutral.
@dpwhale10 күн бұрын
Having said that, having a second option to work on is not a bad idea, as long as you don't overwhelm yourself.

I feel like i've plateau'd lately and yet I've been doing except truly labbing some specific stuff, time to bust out the notepad++ and write stuff down! I've actually dropped Ed for Marisa, my first main, and I've played against Master people in lounges and went out of my way to learn new things while tryingn some things that I thought would work, I got demolished yeah because I had to relearn SF6 and Marisa but had a really fun time

what's your opinion of the 85% rule with fighting games?
@Chris_F8 күн бұрын
What’s the 85% rule?
@phireblast5548 күн бұрын
@@Chris_F To put it roughly, putting 85% instead of 100% of your efforts allows better productivity and reduce the chances of burnout. It's like using an overheating turret in a shooting game. if you go 100% all the time, you'll overheat, so you have to always keep it high, but not close to max so you can keep firing.
