Fantastic job Johnny. Will look to make one for my 3008G when I get a chance.

Nice, very nice! And done so with minimal molestation of original castings, which makes it even nicer... Good job! Here goes a quick rant on a few design thoughts that instantly came up... - I`d go with a solid block that would get a pocket milled into it, thus being quite structurally sound like that, plus offering supreme oil retention(solid stock don`t leak) with only the ``back-plate`` being screwed and pinned(H7 fit M4 polished carbide pins) in place... Maybe needle roller bearings for the shafting just for kicks... Hell, i`d consider making a small cam actuated piston pump that gets actuated by the rotation of the shafts, thus squirting oil into a metering unit that taps off 1/5th of the oil for the carriage ways and recirculates the other 4/5ths by splooging it on a distributor plate(just a plate with raised edges like a mini-bath that has holes in it located over where you want oil to drip)... Have the bottom of the tank act as a sedimentation area and have the pump suck from 1/3 height or higher so the oil is always clean - maybe even add a small sintered filter... It would have to be a bit ``longer`` to fit all that and the bearings would require a larger idler gear to offset the shaft to the lower section of the housing, but alas, `tis just design ramblings... Another idea might be making a 2 speed planetary config gbox which has a single output/input - with the speed shift being done by sliding the actuator shaft in or out, thus either engaging the square drive directly or indirectly by meshing with a sun gear that planetary drives a ring gear and thus the main shaft itself... It would be more expensive and complicated(not really, just more fickle), but it would look slick as fuck, and with 2 retainer balls to index the speed positions - it could be made to appear as an OEM part that feels and sounds just so damn good and smooth... Plus, the planetary system essentially starts at 1/5th reduction, so 30 becomes 6, or even better - a 5 with a 1/6th reduction, which is suitable for some actually nice hand-turning finishes, especially as the planetary system offers it`s own inertia to smooth out any inconsistency... Tho, that kind of system is also a pornographic addition to a tailstock with a round rear flange... You have a quick drive of direct l.screw input and the greatly reduced feed for drilling which offers sick torque with a civilized in-feed of any size drill or other tooling... Regarding the parts - the cap gives the surface grinder finish away in an instant... It reflects the light just so that the pattern of a creep fed grinding wheel with a part on an angular offset is unmistakable...Nice finish at that, some proper table speed that was - no chatter, just a fine finish... Best regards! Steuss

@@johnnyciantar Anytime, i am a machine fanatic as you can well see, so expect nothing less from me when i encounter an interesting machine related topic(gearboxes being one of them)... I`ll have quite a few ideas in store in the future, some automotive in nature(bloody diesels and their slow warm-up, as well as the damned webasto brick that offers naught but mass and waste of fuel with the risk of crapping out...), some machine related(minilathe of mine has quite some changes coming at her... tho, i don`t know where i`ll find the time to deal with like 40 projects that i have on my mind atm...)... Best regards; ``see ya`` around! Steuss
