Great video! As a student, the reality is that someone working at a top firm is going to be wise enough to see through a lot fluff in step 2. No matter how much you sell your "value", you simply may not have the experience or qualifications of other applicants. The only path I can see is through step #1 and human connection. I was curious as to how you develop these connections with the right people. A lot of fairs and networking events are basically just like applying online. You see hundreds of people at every event applying for the same jobs. I was just curious as to how to get in touch with these people in a more efficient way. Sorry if this was long, great video anyways.

Quite often it is very difficult to get in touch with hiring managers, mostly they can only collect your applications of job fairs

James great work and philosophy. when will you be providing live webinars again in 2021?

Hi James, you know... we humans re inherently like this, I recall when I first landed my first job I frequently followed up on the phone, kept demonstrating my interest for the position, and that's actually how I got it... I feel a bit ashamed I had forgotten about this and thought that applying through portals was the new "normal" I think your approach is quite right, thanks for your advice. great advice!

Good opinion my brother got a job straight out of high school by actually going to the place he was gonna get hired. I was suprised sending a follow up email actually got me a response. I'll try this approach now.

I was very interested in the Career Dream Lab program. But I didn't join. I wish the career advisor/sales could make me more comfortable during the conversation, instead of pushing me to make decisions on spending the money which I don't have. It would be great if the program could consider unemployed people’s financial ability and needs, offer more payment options, and tell the career advisor to listen instead of pushing.

Exactly Tannaz! You've hit the nail on the head. The key is being able to explain and sell your value.

Love what you said about building a human connection with recruiters but it's really nerve wracking talking to a recruiter irl that doesn't look anything like you: a middle aged, serious white man in a suit and tie. PS. no offence to them but it's hard to have something in common with them.
