I just briefly go over how you can move offgrid on ur own land, living on land is difficult in the UK but it is doable, hope this helps with a little info on how it can be done to live on farm land

I think your 'secret' is you work hard and don't let people talk you down. And you were doing that for half a decade before you bought your patch Although the 12.5 acres is useful! Especially when you mentioned that some of it could be rented.

Does the 12.5 acres have to be one plot or can you have multiple plots totalling 12.5 acres to qualify?

12.5 acres must be mega money, I live in Cornwall and im in my 20s with 10k saved up, realistically how much does someone need saved up to get the ball rolling to go off grid?
