Interesting about the rear seats and road noise. I removed the rear seats in my GR Yaris, then the headlining, and just recently, all the mats, carpet, foam, and sound deadening. Now you can hear the stones on the chassis, the sound of the engine, and the turbo swooshing (artificial noise turned off). It's brilliant fully stripped out, and I use it daily.

I think with the stock suspension and without the front and rear stiff bars you installed the car would be acceptable comort wise. Mine is fully stock and don’t plan to lower it for that same reason. To me the main thing that makes it non practical as an everyday car is fuel consumption as you mentioned. But I didn’t buy mine as a working tool anyway so I don’t care if it’s thirsty!

Was waiting to see your feedback on the car. I got mine similar time as yours and been watching all your fascinating Ring videos. I'd say for pushing the car that hard on such a track it holds up amazingly well! Consumption related I can easily get 8-8.5lt/100km driving to/from track in the Autobahn between 120-160km/h. Never seen below 25lt during track time but I still think it's consumption is very good if you want a daily with such capabilities. Road noise is affected clearly by removing the seats but overall can't expect diferent if aiming for lightness. I've run Cup2 and R888 and they are super noisy compared to PS4S. Advice for the winter blues: snow drift! Based in Bavaria, I've been doing Salzburgring and Hockenheim during summer and Lungau,AT during winter, never had such all year round fun with a car! You will really appreciate it in snow/irrigated drift events as well! Keep enjoying your cars and driving them as they should be!

Alright mate, enjoyed this update and I like your honesty about removing the rear seats. I think your GR has held up well considering all the laps it’s done and how you use it (as intended 😉) GR owner was selling some tyres cheap so I’ve just picked up some Cup 2 connects with the Michelin track connect system, so I’ll see how I get on with that. Look forward to seeing you on the Ring again.

Thank you ✌️. I use a fair bit, but I try to not be abusive - I let it cool down and warm up properly and I do higher than recommended maintenance. For example I have changed all the fluids 3 times already (gearbox, diffs, engine, clutch pack, brakes). I am not sure the videos give out real usage. Car must have done around 120-140laps so that is somewhere in between 2500-3000km of track. I really like Cup2s. I will try some A052s next season just to have a taste of something different. The connect part if you use it must be a god send. I am yet to find the right pressure for the Cup2s in the yaris. I either get too much wear on the shoulder, or an understeery car. If you bump into me come and have a chat! We can go for a few laps ✌️

I guess MPG depends what you are used to. My GR is far more economical than my Focus RS or Subaru, feels like it hardly ever needs refuelling compared to them. Once you strip a car out it becomes horrible to drive on roads, perhaps better if you left the carpets and panels in and just removed the seats for track use.
@GreatMotors
@GreatMotors Жыл бұрын
MPG is quite poor. Yeah I don't have a Focus RS or Subaru as base of comparison but does much worst than my Audi that uses a 2 liter turbo petrol with 252hp and also has 4 wheel drive. Yeah removing interior sound dampening was not the smartest idea for daily usage 🙃

Here in the states my friend bought a gr Corolla and he over heats the AWD system within in 3 laps on the stock p4s when he went to maxis rc1 and 265s it made it worse. He’s done the Cusco rear diff cover and wrapped the exhaust. I think it’s the clutch pack that over heats which is a sealed unit. Oh and he was over heating it in the winter which I’ll admit isn’t as cold as Germany but still 40f isn’t warm. I’m not sure the over heating can be fixed only alleviated. I’m on a list for a circuit but it really has me thinking if I should get one. I don’t mind fixing something in the aftermarket but I don’t see anything for the Yaris in the aftermarket besides ducting,diff cover and exhaust wrapping ands it’s been what two years since it’s been out? I guess I’m just thinking out loud. 😂

Removing the rear stuff was not the wisest ahah. The box and engine are great, but I would also a bit too much for a daily. In the sense that it is not a smooth combo. Below 2000rpm the engine has no power at all. Worst than the MPG is maybe the range... I hate having to go to the gas station every ~300km.

Hi! Thanks for the video. I've been watching you for a long time too. Which front brake rotors did you install to replace the factory ones? Have you tried the EBC RP-1/RP-X brake pads?

I have installed Carbon Pad brake rotors to replace the OEM rotors. I read some online reviews that were less than good about EBC so I was never too curious to try them out. Thank you! Wind was annoying but I only noticed after the fact. I tried to remove it as much as possible. I also tried to do a voice over but it felt really odd. I am a bit cautious to not do too much that would affect my warranty or driving the car "normally". I have thought about buying an eventuri intake but I am not sure it's worth the €, IC will be something that I change once the current one is in need of replacement (I don't think it will last too long since it's really exposed to rocks etc), GPF delete is out of the question since there are a significant amount of police controls in Germany and even more on the Nurburgring (here you would get your car towed if the police suspects of manipulation of the environmental mechanisms), I thought about getting a HJS downpipe but again warranty.... Thanks for commenting ✌️

Time flies... Nice to hear the car manages to keep up with your driving on track for 2 years :) How come you didn't do front polybushes, Whiteline for example? How's your torque mount (lower gearbox)? Mine was messed up (broken rubber) after few kkm.
@GreatMotors
@GreatMotors Жыл бұрын
Time has really gone by in an instant in this last few years. I have changed all the fluids (brakes, gearbox, diffs, engine oil) 3 times now. Car feels good, the first "major" cost part that I had to replace were the front rotors. I have the KW CS that already brings some solid bushings, but I haven't changed anything else. I don't know about the one of the gearbox, I asked my dealership to check when the car was there for maintenance in December. I am just not sure you can spot it with a visual inspection without disassemble. I do have a vibration when I let go of the throttle in 6th gear at 2500-3000rpm and let the car cost. How did you spot yours was broken ?
@markos8400
@markos8400 Жыл бұрын
@@GreatMotors Already after few weeks of having the car, I noticed also on letting off the throttle there was a "unwanted" movement in front. Felt it moving on gear shifts even while driving slowly as well. Couldn't make a smooth downshift, even with IMT. You have to remove the undertray, remove 3 bolts holding the mount and pull it out to see if it is broken, 10 min job. I think every GRY has the issue...
@GreatMotors
@GreatMotors Жыл бұрын
@@markos8400 I will have it check! Thank you! I don't see any movement on my gear knob, neither I feel anything shifting underneath. Changing gears isn't a problem besides the "usual" 2nd to 3rd shift under power that will grind "almost every time".
@markos8400

@@GreatMotors It feels more like the whole car does a "hiccup", like a learner driving manual and releasing clutch too soon lol. Also didn't feel anything on gear shifter / knob. If you find it broken, you can get cheap poly inserts rather than aftermarket mount. I never had 2->3 grinding, but it could also be related to same problem.

I don't drive very long stretches. If I go really smooth yeah I can get 8.X L but I still find that quite high given that it's a 1.6L turbo petrol not weighing very much. My A4 is a manual, heavier, 4 wheel drive, 2.0 252hp turbo petrol and returns better mileage. Ofc it comes always down to how you drive. On the Nurburgring I do 5 laps per fuel tank.
