You forgot to include Universal Soldier 😁 Basically Turrican 2 with different graphics and the worst marketing decision ever. I did the SNES version and we were 3/4 finished when they got the Universal Soldier license and told us to redo the graphics. The SNES version was never released due to the poor sales of the Megadrive and Gameboy versions. If we'd been allowed to continue with the original Turrican 2 graphics it would have been a good seller but marketing people know best don't they?
@onaretrotip
@onaretrotip 5 жыл бұрын
As I said, there are so many more cancelled SNES games, I just narrowed it down to 20 (which was tough), but by no means forgot any. Shame all your hard work was wasted after having completed 3/4 of the game. That's the most heartbreaking thing about making these videos - hearing about so much hard work resulting in nothing :(
@jasonlee7816
@jasonlee7816 4 жыл бұрын
i thought SNES Universal Soldier game got cancelled because of the license expiry or the way it looked, played, sounded if the Sega Genesis/Mega-Drive Turrican 2 had good sales why would a SNES version have been a good seller there were already two SNES Super Turrican games released
@tskraj3190
@tskraj3190 4 жыл бұрын
@@jasonlee7816 Because the SNES greatly outsold the Genesis/Mega Drive and most people during that era that owned a Genesis/Mega Drive bought an SNES as well because of the exclusive games, better colors, graphics and sound. Genesis/Mega Drive was barely keeping it's head above water which is why they released items like the Activator and console addons like the Sega CD and 32X. Sega realized the 32X wasn't strong enough competition for the SNES so they ditched the 32X/Sega CD (Neptune all in one)for the Saturn.

That Mr Tuff game looked super familiar. I imagine it's some random memory from an old magazine buried away in the back of my mind. That Steven Seagal game is such a mid 90s game. Digitising actors in games was such a weird thing that sprung from Mortal Kombat's success. They were rarely any good. That said, I'd love to see someone do that now with flashy hi def cameras and some cleaver animation trickery.
@onaretrotip

Mr. Tuff looks great I think, shame it never made it. The Seagal game is hilarious, I'm gonna have to download the ROM to my Everdrive just for comedy value. Yeah, agreed, the wave of digitised games after MK were almost always awful. Bet they could do some crazy shit with that nowadays!

The story behind shadowhawk as a game is wrong. The prototype (actual rom chip) was floating around from collector to collector. Rose Colored Games, a repromaker picked it up dumped it (non public) and was going to sell 100-150 copies of the game. Jim Valentino found out the games where being sold and sent a C&D to RCG and I believe he took them to court. A few copies were sold already to the public and someone dumped them. Two roms exist, the original dump and the romhacked dump thats a little more balanced. You also missed LOBO on your list. Another Comic Book based game that was meant for the Snes and Sega Gen. Both prototypes are out now.

Firearm's graphics ain't digitised. That's just plain old pixel art, but slightly more "realistic" and less cartoony in style. Now, The Final Option is definitely using digitised sprites on the other hand--and they just look bad.

I got the Bobby's world for snes at a used game shop about 10 years ago. Very interesting games on this list. I'll be emulating some of these games. Killer Instinct on the SNES has very downgraded graphics when compared to the arcade machine but despite this the game is very playable. I rented Killer Instinct Gold for N64 back in the day. The Stevel Segal game looks funny.

Thanks! Same here; I'll definitely be putting some of these on my Everdrive. I was never a huge fan of Killer Instinct to be honest. The Steven Seagal game looks so bad, but I'll definitely be giving it a go (if only for comedy value).

I have had 6 of the above cancelled games on floppy disks for years as I have a Super Wild Card. Are Mr Tuff and Spellcraft not full games as I have trainers on both disks for unlimited everything and cheat modes?, I have Prime-A Super Hero, Steven Segal-The final Option and The Shadow all on 2 disks and Prime will only work on 24mb or above, I also have Bobby's World which seems complete. I also have 20 of the unreleased games mentioned on SNES Central such as Super Loopz (with Trainer), Network Q Rac Rally,Might and Magic 2,Mario & Wario,Turbo Toons (Beta),Universal Soldier,Arcus Spirits, Iron Commando,Little Magic,Metal Jack -Armoured Police, Batman-Revenge of Joker,Mickeys Playtown Adventure, Muhammad Ali Boxing,NFL Football,RHI Roller Hockey 95, Shadow of the Beast, Speedy Gonzalez, Street Combat,Super Drift Out (2 Disks) and Total football not sure if any are complete ?
