Pan, thanks for the information (learn something new every day!). Here is an important extra tip. Tip # 21: Do not wear anything that can scratch various parts of the car. Over the years, I’ve had the following items accidentally scratch the car while not washing/detailing my cars: watches, rings, bracelets, belts with metal buckles, pocket knives with exposed metal belt clips (worst offender), anything in general that has hard sharp edges. Pan you are the man! Because of your tutorial KZbin videos I have just completed a total exterior detail of my newly purchased previously owned vehicle which was not maintained at all. You gave me the confidence to do the two step paint correction and ceramic coating to the vehicle. I purchased everything from the Max Shine M-15 DA Polisher to all of the polishes and brushes I used from the links in your tutorial videos. I wanted you to have the commission since you turned me on to the products and techniques. My vehicle now looks like it could be entered into an auto show. It looks great and is now sitting in the garage for the rest of the week after applying the ceramic coating. I followed your tips and techniques and achieved probably what would be a thousand US dollar (or more) detail and paint correction and paint protection that just blows my mind. Anyone who watches your tutorials and has the passion to have a show room quality auto will have the confidence to achieve the results that I have. You have motivated me to get out there and give it a try. Everything I experienced you already gave me the answers on what to do and what not do to get the results I wanted. You have an exceptional delivery and well organized thought process that is easy to follow. I give you kudos and wish you much success. Thank you from a guy in the US south with an awesome shiny, well protected vehicle. The interior is next on the list. Keep it Tight and Keep it Clean! I am going to have to order one of those T-shirts now because I gotta look the part and keep motivated :)

Pan's Tips & Secrets: 1. Use dedicated wheel buckets and brushes 1:16 2. Protect your paintwork with a wax/sealant/coating. 1:34 3. Wear protective gear, especially gloves. 2:11 4. When washing, rub using straight line technique (not circles). 2:42 5. Avoid working in direct sunlight; most products work best at room temperature. 3:18 6. Read and follow the manufacturers directions carefully. 3:57 7. After wash & rinse, remove visible brake rust by rolling forward and back while braking 4:34 8. Clean glass w/ two-towels (cleaning; and drying) 5:08 9. Only decontaminate with clay when needed. Use the "bag test." 5:53 10. After the clay stage, polish paint to fix micro marring. 6:45 11. Before polishing, use detail tape to protect sensitive areas. 7:29 12. Use pH neutral dedicated car shampoos. Do not use dishwashing liquids, as it is a degreaser. 7:50 13. Wash microfiber towels correctly. 8:18 14. Use a vacuum and brush in tandem when cleaning interiors. 9:34 15. Use a degreaser or an all-purpose-cleaner to clean tires before applying a tire dressing. 9:51 16. Spray-on/rinse-off tire sealants can make future maintenance washes easier. 10:26 17. For maximum gloss, polish to flatten the paintwork 10:23 18. Avoid automatic car washes 13:10 19. Clean in this order: tire & wheels, then paintwork from top to bottom. 14:16 20. Remember to watch Pan's KZbin tutorials. 15:13

On tip number 8 i suggest for those who follow your steps literally. First to open a bit the window and clean the edge, after that close up, and clean all the window. This way they will avoid double work on getting the window wet again because water in the door after finish with washing. We all know that annoying opening on window after it's been washed out and polished to perfection.

Love the video. I've been detailing and painting for over 22 years now, and this is essential information for people to do basic maintenance on their vehicle to make a detail more affordable when it comes to a professional. While it's not a hard job to wash a care, it is easy to do it wrong.

Hey Pan, i appreciate all the videos you make. You persuaded me to buy many products (that work amazingly) including the Adam's Mega Foam and P&S Brake buster wheel cleaner which i use almost all the time. I currently use the 2 (3 including wheels) bucket method to wash my cars and am thinking of buying a foam cannon to aid the process for pre washing. I recently re watched the battle between the foam cannons video and that made me wonder, will you possibly be making a video dedicated to showing some good pressure washers available on the market? I looked at many of them online with various price ranges (looking for one around the $100-200 range) and it's hard to decide which ones are good for car washing. If not, do you have any recommendations on some nozzles to use with garden hoses? Keep up the awesome content!!!
@PanTheOrganizer4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your support! In the 200$ price range, hands down my choice would go for a Karcher pressure washer. I have owned two Karcher K5 (one of them for over 10 years and it was still going like new) before I got my higher end 1200$ Kranzle 1122TST unit. For garden hoses and sprayers, I love Eley Hose Reels. The last garden hose you'll ever need. I have a 50 foot Eley Hose Reels polyurethane garden hose, Eley Hose Reels hose reel, plus their professional sprayer nozzle.

Your advice to not use powdered detergent is spot on. Detergents are sold by weight. 2 # box, etc. The actual detergent itself is very light. Believe it or not, manufacturers add (or at least used to add) white sand to the detergent to obtain desired weight. I used to wonder why there was a white residue left in the cuffs of my jeans that didn’t dissolve when I was a kid. Now you know. Also, the sand gets into the bearings in the water pumps in your washer and eat up seals destroying the pump

hi pan you are absolutely right on tip #18 but living in Montreal winters as you know it's sometimes impossible to wash your own car outside (without getting frost bite) just saying and taking your car to a hand wash carwash in my opinion might be worst you have no idea were that cleaning rag or sponge has been or falling on the ground so I hope that the products that you recommend and tested should protect the finish for a few car washes because step #20 is so important. I'm not trying to down play of what you have shown us because I have learned so much from you and still learning. What other option do I have for hand washing a car in the winter in below O weather with no garage. How strong are the product that the touchless car washes use, are the product that you recommend going to protect my finish and for how long. This is my problem and I don't think i alone if you live in Quebec. Help I need somebodies help Thanks jimmy

I follow most of the advice here but the tip about drying microfibers inside not outside makes so much sense when I think about it but I recently spoke to a professional and he advised one wash and after 2nd use bin it. There is always more to learn in this hobby. Thanks.
@PanTheOrganizer2 жыл бұрын
I don't really understand what you were trying to say here John. But regardless, I wash my microfiber towels and mitts after each use. I like to work with clean towels. And I made a highly popular microfiber cleaning tutorial here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qpDVqpl9odB4b6s And I dry my towels in the dryer, but on "air fluff" setting meaning no heat. Never use high heat when drying towels. The advice of letting towels air dry inside the home, is for those who don't have a dryer. If you have to hang dry your towels, it's best to have them hang dry inside your house. If you use common sense, you will notice that letting them air dry outside your house will have all the dust and air pollutants go directly in the fibers of your towel. Not a smart thing to do. But you are free to do as you wish of course, we live in free countries. :)
@johnbrown39512 жыл бұрын
@@PanTheOrganizer Sorry if I was not clear I was agreeing with you re the fact if I dry outside as I have been doing dust could blow into them on the outside line. I will be indoor drying from now on. The detailer told me that he only uses his cloth's twice then either use on wheels or in the bin but maybe that is only body shops using them on high end cars. I value any tips and tricks that you pass onto us that watch the content that you put on you tube for free. Thanks.

The only towels we throw away are those used to remove ceramic coatings. For the rest, if cleaned properly and frequently, there is absolutely no need to throw them away. And this is after discussing with actual microfiber towels producers in the detailing industry, including the biggest ones from The Rag Company. They are known worldwide for their quality microfibers. Same goes for Microfiber Madness, and Auto Fiber and Luxury Microfiber. I made a series of videos with the experts at The Rag Company to demystify everything about microfiber towels. Super interesting. Check out part 1 here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bJXcZoOYn7lkedk

I’ve got a Tip. If you already own a Rainbow cleaning system (if not, definitely look into it further), use it to do all of your interior detailing. It LITTERALLY does 70% of the job for you, including ‘vacuuming’ (The proper term is ‘actually’ Rainbowing, cause vacuums refer to systems that don’t work), dusting, pet hair removal, carpet/upholstery scrubbing, shampooing, and that’s just to list a few. Wait till you see what it can do on the outside!!! Check it out. I use an E2 model for my detailing business, and it makes the job a breeze.

Hey Pan, Because there is only a thin layer of clearcoat, compounding and polishing is something that I try to keep to a minimum. Are there any waxes, sealants or glazes that have fillers in them that can be used to mask fine scratches? Maybe that's the benefit of a ceramic coating? A sacrificial layer of protection over the clearcoat. Even then though the ceramic coating can get scratched. What waxes would fill in those scratches or swirls???

Yo love washing my car. People always telling me to start my car detailing business. I enjoyed your video. Very useful tips for me. What’s the best pressure washer to use for car detailing jobs? I’m talking about psi in general.
@PanTheOrganizer3 жыл бұрын
Anything between 1000-2000 psi if perfect for washing cars. I don’t recommend going over 2000 psi. If you want the BEST pressure washer (those are the words you used) watch my video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eZuXd3emgNqCiKs

Could I please ask what the difference between a compound and normal polish is that you was talking about at 7:09 ? And also when you say not to use dishwasher soap as it degreases, can i use it on the 20 year old car I bought so that I can then wash it and then seal the paint myself after?

Hey Pan!! Love your content, very easy to follow for someone who is just becoming interested in taking better care of their vehicle... can you do a list of your favorite products for each step in the detailing process? I’m trying to gather as much info and good products before I undertake my first go at my Grand Cherokee Overland. I don’t want to get part way through and realize I’m missing a product or a step. Thanks so much!! Also love that you are in tune with the harsh Canadian weather (East Coaster here 🙋🏼♀️🇨🇦)

See the Hagerty written article about the new paint for a Mazda MX-5 Miata, to get off to a good start with the paint. I have found that PB Blaster penetrating oil spray after washing, rubbed in with a microfiber cloth works sort of like a clay bar.

@PanTheOrganizer4 жыл бұрын
As water is one of our main natural resources here in Canada, we mainly do traditional washes with water. We don't really use steam to clean cars, so I haven't tried that.

Mr pan hello again. If I may ask. As you may already know the weather in KSA is very hot around 50 degrees celcuse and sandy. So Will the ceramic coating protect the clear coat and the paint from UV rays and sand wavs from getting vaded and all other defects since I don't have garage and my car is 24/7 under the sun

Hey Paaaaaaan May I ask how many times you are able to clay bar and or polish the Average New car before you eat all the way down to the painted surface? Now I know there are variables living here in the NE. Really does a number on cars that have to be parked outside all year round.

Hey Pan, great video! beginner question, if i apply a AIO (griot finishing sealant) on my car, can i then apply something like Turtle wax ice & shine or the last coat for an extra layer of protection/gloss?
@PanTheOrganizer4 жыл бұрын
You could apply Seal N Shine as that's a sealant, but I wouldn't apply The Last Coat as that product is silica based and need to bond directly to a virgin clear coat or to an existing ceramic coating.

Hey Pan there's one thing i want you to talk about. Meguiar's has made a ceramic clay kit, which is just a reusable synthetic clay plus a Meguiar's ceramic detailer spray. What is the purpose of the ceramic clay kit as opposed to the regular clay kit with the regular detailer spray? Does it remove less ceramic protective coating if you spray it with a ceramic detailer spray? For example, my car still has a very healthy layer of ceramic coating on it, which I top coat with a ceramic spray after each car wash. But the paint has some bonded contaminants that I can feel when I glide my hand over the paint. I don't want to polish my car and reapply the ceramic coating just to remove the bonded contaminants. Can we use the ceramic detailer spray and a very gentle reusable clay bar to remove contaminant without removing the ceramic coating?

Hi Pan, I like all the info that you offer in this area for car detailing, its very helpful.. Im looking to put together a complete kit of car care products for my new car, and things seem to be a bit overwhelming with so many products out there. Non the less I am leaning more towards the Gyeon and the Carpro's products. So, what is your personal take away between these two companies and what is your top choices that you would use professionally for yourself, if not these two companies.. Thanks Chris

Thank you for all your advice. You're this weekend warrior's go to for advice. Speaking of advice, whats the best way of removing water from the side mirrors. I use a blower but i always find a line of dried water that dripped out after I'm finished drying and quick detail wax. So frustrating.

I also fold the mirrors some times on some models, to make sure I get the water out of every crack with the blower.
