@@LivetofishOutboardRepair I ordered a copy of the Seloc repair manual and hope that will help. I downloaded a copy of the original manual but it is such small print and blurry in sections that it is hard to determine what you are looking at.

@@mikee4216 I know what you mean. I like the hard copy too. Computers crash and sometimes you lose the information and your right the digital versions are hard to see diagrams and print sometimes. Good luck!

I have the same motor spent countless hours added a inline fuel pump runs great just a thought.

James … thanks for the suggestion. The motor runs great now that I’ve rebuilt the carb and properly routed the fuel line (no kinks). I think my customer will be happy now. See part 3. Thanks for watching and commenting.

It is too bad that we had to buy two separate kits, to get the diaphram and other gaskets. I got mine from Amazon. The Mercury carb rebuild kit in Canada from a mercury dealer is over a $100.00. In addition, be really careful when tapping out those mercury hinge pins. I use needle nose pliers instead of a punch and hammer. I broke a 20 hp carburetor float post before, using the punch and hammer method.

Ralph Barker … You should try www.marineengine.com I purchased both kits for under $20 us. I agree using a hammer and punch is a bit risky but the pin was stuck in pretty tight so I used the smallest hammer I have and tapped it gently. Sometimes I just use two small screwdrivers and hit the other with the plastic end. That usually does the job without to much force.

Torino Shepherd … I purchased two gasket kits from www.marineengine.com I had to order the gasket kits for both the carb and fuel pump separately. Part numbers 1399-5317 & 1399-5318 as well as a new Venturi part number 69692. The Venturi comes in two different types depending on the carb so make sure you pay attention particular attention to your model number before ordering.

So what was the problem with no spark

The spark was non-existent because the owner grounded the cdi box to the ignition hot side. See part 1.
