I feel 20 things in your wardrobe is a good number. I am willing to bet that most people have their favorite items and don't wear more than that anyway. The rest of our clothes just end up taking up space in our closet.

I read most people wear 20% of their clothes, 80% of the time! I recently decluttered my wardrobe to keep only what I like and fits me now! 4 garbage bags full donated. By default, I have a capsule wardrobe. It has been wonderful. Even though I don't have as many clothes, I wear everything and my laundry doesnt pile up. It's a good idea for thr whole family.

People who have that small of a wardrobe amaze me. Then I hear some who say they have all four seasons, but they don’t get the temp shift that we do. It’s -50 degrees in the winter and over 100 in summer. Extreme temps need more clothes.

The climate where I live (Ontario Canada) is similar to yours. 3/4 of my closet is for the cold/cooler months and 1/4 is for summer! I've decluttered my clothes and only kept what fits me and what is confortable. My favourite things to wear are plain t-shirts with a skirt or jeans and cardigans. I have a couple of nice blazers for special occasions. I don't have any dresses, not even for summer, as I feel more confortable in a skirt/t-shirt combination! Loved your take on this! I haven’t structured my wardrobe down to a certain number of items, but I do regularly go through and eliminate items from my closet. I have recently been adding items to my wardrobe but it’s been with a purpose and will likely lead to me getting rid of pieces I don’t like but haven’t gotten rid of because I had nothing to replace them with. 😊 I’m trying to put the effort in to finding pieces that I actually grab to wear. haha You did great with your wardrobe!

I live in Eastern North Carolina. We don’t need a lot of cold weather stuff. It’s really hot here from about mid-April to late-Sept so my wardrobe contains a lot of stuff for warm weather and just a little bit of cold weather stuff. I literally have 3 sweaters and one singular pair of boots, Blundstones, so I can dress them up or down. It’s all I need though. I agree with making sure your clothes fit your season of life. In the past I’ve been guilty of having fancy clothing that I literally NEVER need so I’m finally figuring out what I actually use. It’s been a process. Great video.

You don’t have to let go all the clothes. Put other items in a “maybe” box. Sometimes there are pieces that we forgot that are very versatile and we can mix and match and then we have to buy again to complete an outfit. We sometimes change in taste for clothing for every season, I did mistake of let everything go for the sake of decluttering to minimum although it felt good. The good thing is I donated it to my two sisters and i can able to get some items back.

Really good video. I'm about ready to start cleaning out my closet & dresser. I'm older, retired and wear only casual clothes that fit. I used to have a closet full of clothes in 2 or 3 different sizes, but finally got rid of everything that didn't currently fit or that I rarely wore.

I’m currently working on minimizing my wardrobe. I really only wear like 15-20 things regularly, but have a very hard time parting with some items, specifically gifted pieces. I’ve been going down more and more. It’s for sure a process. I have two little girls and so my body is still in transition about have two children and still breastfeeding so that also makes it harder.

Last fall I have ordered 5 or 6 nursing mama dresses and the same number of leggings (all the same model just different colors) and this IS all i have been wearing in the past 6 month. The dresses and Leggings all Mix and Match so i can Just Grab whatever, and i am Always kinda Well dressed. I Just have ordered some dresses for summer and Hope IT will Work Out Just Like that.

I live in FL and in Winter we do get days where we need jeans, sweaters, long sleeves. We also go to GA/sC in fall winter. So I would do a few more items than 20. This is something that I’m working on is getting rid of clothes.

Being older I can say I liked the tailoring from past generations better. I don't know if it's the made in China mostly - but many button up shirts have ridiculous tight arm holes - so if it's heavier material and you want to wear it as a layer it doesn't work well, and also wrists so tight you can hardly roll them up!

I am similar in that I don't particularly care about the name on the tag. At my age comfort and stylish are what I am after regardless of where I find the item. I don't like being put in a box when it comes to my clothing. It's refreshing to hear you talk about all the places you get your clothes. You don't put yourself in a box either. Most women on these episodes talk about their Talbot hauls or their Zara hauls or some expensive place they buy their clothes. And that's alright but not everyone can afford a whole wardrobe from certain stores. I spend money on my shoes and my bras. Support in all areas is very important. I buy the expensive items from time to time but not my whole wardrobe. It's wasteful.

I've learned by being more minimal with my wardrobe means I'm replacing things faster 🫤 like undies & socks. It also could have been the dryer was old. All the clothes I hang dry stays intact longer. 😊
