Sounds like a Final Fantasy interlude, when the main character thinks back to when he was still a kid, looking up at the stars in the nightsky, while he's sitting with the love of his life.

I've been struggling with sweeping watching all kinds of videos and this I believe is the lesson I needed brother much appreciated!!!

Thank you for simultaneously playing this and doing this workout with me. I had always thought you were AI generated Dean. Now you just proved to me that you can suffer with me through these lessons. You are now real in my eyes.

Wow, this was really really great. I appreciate that you do the whole exercise along with the metronome with us so I can hear when I'm on and where I need work. I'll be coming back to this for my morning sessions. Would love some exotic sounding mode/scale runs with alt picking or even classical finger picking. Thanks, Dean! You're amazing.

Thanks for the practice routine, I'm trying to get back into some sweeps and stuff after not playing them for about 15 years and I tell you what, it's rough the muscle memory just isn't there anymore, gotta build it back up from scratch!

Fun exercise, thanks Dean! I'm just starting with sweeps and arpeggios so correct me if I'm wrong. The first arpeggio is over A minor (C Aolian) and the second is over C major (C Ionian). Then it goes to D minor, C# major and back to A minor.
@michal_ziak4 күн бұрын
Actually the first one is derived from C major arpeggio, the bottom part has added 6th (A), which kinda alters that feel to minor in the end. So you could name it as C6 arpeggio, the second one is derived from E minor, with major "twist" at the end with that added C (ending up as Em6). Third one is again F major with added 6 (F6) and last one is Fmin6.

But seriously I don't remember what I said in this video about the arpeggios, but I definitely could be wrong about it lol. Gotta knock the cobwebs out of my brain, haven't taught concepts in quite a while. Thanks fellas! :)

It would be awesome to see ways to extend these shapes to the lower strings. I like that you added the lowest note as well, when I learned how to do these it was only one note on the A string.

God damn this was nice and relaxing to play along to. It almost felt like one of those guided meditation videos. I'll definitely be using this as my sweep practice 🤘. Thanks, Dean. I hope you post more videos like this whenever you have time to do so.

Cool vid, it reminds me of Gambale’s video. I like the idea of this, if this is intermediate, I want to see an advanced sweeping lesson. Please do a vid/lesson with Chris Storey, his lick of the week sweep picking is still something I practice a lot. Lick of the week 2.

oh hey ! saw you live a couple times but this is the first time I've seen one of your vids. Just one thing about the "play without an amp sometimes" advice : Personally I think it's nice for dynamics, however playing with an amp is in my opinion instrumental (hehe) to working on my muting because it makes any sympathetic resonance just jump out in a really obvious way, not to mention the pick attack

I think a big thing here would be practice/learn to not rush and to try and really lock into the metronome. As guitar players we're notorious for rushing the beat, any drummer will tell you as much lol.
