Great list. Being an older guy I was in my twenties in the 80s. Everyone in the clubs wore Polo Green. I wanted to smell different so i wore Antaeus. Where i lived it was not a very common fragrance. Still wear it today but disappointed with the reformulation. Love the original.

I loved this review in particular, because it was about timeless, classic and the most iconic scents, but I think YSL pour Homme from 1971, Pacco Rabanne pour Homme from 1973, Ted Lapidus pour Homme from 1987 and Pierre Cardin pour Monsieur from 1972, were also classic, signature scents and very popular ^_^ Honorable mention for Bourjois Masculin 2 from 1975, an alternative to YSL pour Homme ^_^

I think we are of the same age Max Im surprised you didnt include CK ONE, it was a game changer IMHO it was the one that started a whole revolution about the idea of being a fragrance for the young people and the new old being something unisex, I think that after CK ONE came out the designer marketing was more focused in young crowds, I mean I remember loving my dads perfumes but I wanted something more playful and original and not to be related with older people years after that I mean I didnt wanted to smell like Joop or Le Male I didnt wanted to smell like a player hahah I just wanted to smell " cool " and yes I agree with you about D&G PH, my father gave me Santos de Cartier for xmas so I knew that I didnt wanted to smell like that it was good but nor for me so he keep it and gave me money to buy me something, so I was shopping around and a very kind sales associate old lady ask me what I was looking for so explained to her what happened and she knew that I had some knowledge about most popular fragrances, so she said " I know exactly what you want " and she came back with D&G , it was not like on display and never heard of it, it was the most unique and beautiful fragrance ever. For around 3 years after it still was a huge compliment getter and not so common,

Eau Sauvage continues to absolutely rock my world. I've got a recent formulation so performance is not the best; I'd love to get my hands on a pre-IFRA bottle but I'm always paranoid about how variable storage practices are on vintage bottles (same with Azzaro PH, would love to get a vintage edition). I still keep a soft spot in my heart for Brut, though I seek out more naturalistic interpretations of it such as the one from Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements.

Max this was a great video as I have many of these in my collection and great going down memory lane here and a lot of history on why these were iconic fragrances of their day. Yeah I would have liked if you did an expanded version of this especially from the 70's, 80's, & 90's when the number of quality men's fragrances took off. From the 20,000 feet view looking at the history of men's fragrances you can see what the top trends of the day were. The Vetiver frag craze of the 60's, Musk frag craze of the 70's, all the way to the current Blue frag and Oud phases. Good job and keep more like this coming!!

Cool Water is still my signature - even though I was THREE when it came out. Its just a masterpiece. I only wear the first version made in late 80s early 90s. Newer versions are flat and scratchy. Hey Hung, not sure - my bottle ''on this video'' is from 2009 - I don't know what new ones are like - but as for all current reformulations I would think performance won't be satisfactory - my suggestion is to try to find older bottles, they're out there and in my opinion it's well worth the hunt if you love the scent! ;)

How do you feel about both Egoiste and Platinum Egoiste as groundbreaking/impactful fragrances?

They are great as well - if this was a TOP 25-30 they would have made the list... I'm more of a Egoiste OG fan but Platinum is fire too!
