Question Time Stamps for Quick Reference: 0:00 - Intro 1. 0:15 {Do We Pray For or Against our Enemies?} How do you reconcile the New Testament's clear teachings to love and pray for our enemies with Psalms like Psalm 69:22-28? Is there ever a time when we should pray against our enemies? 2. 23:44 {Gospel Patterns?} Is Genesis 1:1-6 a foreshadowing of the beginning of the Gospel of Jesus Christ? John 1:1, Luke 1:1, Mark 1:1, Matthew 4: 17, and 1 John 1:1 all speak of beginning, then water, light, and darkness. 3. 29:25 {Unhealthy Associations w/Gratitude} Growing up, I had people expect me to show gratitude as a way to ignore abuse. Now, I want to be thankful for blessings in my life, but I associate gratitude with abuse. How do I separate that? 4. 33:24 {Prophecy Fulfillment, or Just Staged?} People quote prophecy as evidence of Jesus’ deity. Couldn’t He have deliberately fulfilled some prophecies, such as bribing men to divide His clothes, or purposefully riding a donkey into Jerusalem? 5. 37:38 {Why Physical vs. Spiritual Blessings?} What is the significance of God promising physical blessings to nations (thinking particularly of the promise to Ishmael), when, in light of eternity, physical blessings are nearly insignificant? 6. 39:38 {About the Septuagint & Masoretic Text} Is the Greek LXX (Septuagint) considered a flawed copy? The genealogy of Shem adds hundreds of years which is quite significant. Is the Masoretic Text inerrant, or am I misunderstanding inerrancy? 7. 44:38 {Thoughts on the Asbury Revival} What are your thoughts about what is happening at Asbury? 8. 48:04 {Is there a Proper Format for Church Services?} Is the current way we do church services prescribed in the Bible? Where did this current style of worship come from? 9. 51:34 {Was Aaron Punished for the Golden Calf?} Why didn't Aaron get punished for making the golden calf in Exodus 32? 10. 1:00:38 {Butterfly Effect/Multiple Universes?} What are your thoughts on the butterfly effect and the possibility of multiple universes? 11. 1:06:31 {Galatians 5 - Heaven or Rewards?} In Galatians 5: 19-21, is the “kingdom of God” a reference to Heaven itself, or a reference to rewards? A local pastor says it is about rewards, but I am skeptical. 12. 1:14:17 {Did God Permit Child Sacrifice?} Why did God allow child sacrifice in Judges when the man said he will sacrifice anything that walks through the door, and then his daughter walks out? Aren't the other nations judged for this action? 13. 1:19:22 {Can Killing a Leader be Justified At Times?} We know that self-defense is biblical, but what about assassinations like Project Valkyrie (Hitler) or times when killing a leader might save other lives? Are we still bound to their authority? 14. 1:23:50 {Bible Reading Schedule - Required?} Do you think it's wrong if I don't read the Bible regularly? I do read and study it, but I don't have a consistent schedule. 15. 1:26:36 {Parable of the Minas} I was just wondering what your interpretation of the parable in Luke 19: 11-27 is. Specifically, what do you think the slaves and the minas represent? 16. 1:34:07 {Must We Always be “Nice”?} Is it biblical to be nice? My boyfriend is extremely honest and it rubs a lot of people the wrong way. Does he have a biblical obligation to be nice with his words? 17. 1:35:57 {The Holiness of God’s Justice} Any tips for how to become less opposed to God’s judgment, and to see it as holy? It can cause me to feel like God is an unloving God sometimes. 18. 1:42:01 {Dancing as a Form of Worship?} Is dancing allowed in church? Can it be considered worship? 19. 1:44:15 {Works-Based Salvation?} Does Matthew 7: 21 tell us that works are necessary to get saved? 20. 1:46:25 {Are Men’s Beards Prideful?} What do you think about beards? I heard a pastor say that it is a prideful thing to wear a beard, and therefore wrong to have one. I don't really agree. I don't think you do either, as you have one.

@justingary5322 Please provide the scripture that indicates Jesus ever mentioned European Jews inhabiting a fraction of the land that was originally known as the Promise Land or Israel’s inheritance. Please show that he prophesied it would be EXACTLY (your word) 1900 years from 70 AD. Please post the prophecies that clearly and explicitly informs the reader how long God would take to fulfill them. I’m unaware that God pronounced through any prophet that it would be EXACTLY (your word) 1900 years for Jews to return to their homeland. If I add 1900 to 70 I don’t arrive at 1948. 🤷🏾♂️ Also, Jesus made reference to Jerusalem not being of any significance to pure worship. It WAS once the center of pure worship in ANCIENT times but it no longer has any significance to God and Christ. *JOHN 4:21*

I had a really abusive dad and when I was 15 I decided never to take revenge on him because I loved him, as twisted as it sounds. I didn't know Jesus and if God was my father, I only knew the fear associated with my dad when I thought of God, so I told God I needed to let go of Him as I knew Him and asked Him to not let me fall too far from him as I walked away. 5 kids and many heartbreaks later, I met Jesus. I considered myself fatherless until then. He has raised me up healed from my fornication and from seeking pleasure from the world. Now I know what danger there is for discouraged children and how to love them in His name.

This first question answer is so good because people really do struggle with the justice of God and the wrath of God, and yet that is tied up with the righteousness of God. And for us to cry, justice and mercy, at the same time is a holy function. It should motivate us all the more to preach the gospel when we realize that God has made a way through his wrath, but is also angry every day with the wicked it should motivate if all the more because the time is short, and because not all are saved. But when God does execute justice on the earth, in that day, we will be a part of Heaven’s multitudes saying Glory! and worthy is the Lamb!

I think that last point regarding us being ambassadors of Christ, but at the same time pleaders for God's judgment against *unrepentant* evildoers is a fine line. #7 Asbury University has a solid history of waiting on God. They’re in the Wesleyan tradition (don’t think they’re formally Wesleyan at the present time) and from what I’m hearing from the University, they aren’t calling this a “revival”, but it seems to be a genuine work of the Holy Spirit. Keep praying for God to be glorified and men and women to be transformed in the likeness of Jesus!

Except no bibles are opened and the scripture being preached, just nonstop singing with emotionalism and sensationalism for weeks on end, woman preachers, sodomites leading “worship,” charismatics trying to flock there and video of “devils being cast out and deliverance.” It’s a sham revival. It’s a not a genuine work of God, it’s of the devil. I’m so tired of people the past couple weeks REFUSING to even consider that maybe what is happening at asbury isn’t what they think! Why is that so hard to accept?? I understand that people are demoralized right now and people are desperate to see hope in the world right now, but we still need to judge all things by the word of God. Stop letting yourselves be duped by a different spirit!

I haven't looked into it much yet. What saddens me is the usual Christian channels predictably coming out with their immediate thumbs down videos. This isn't of God...work of the devil...etc. I could have predicted the ones that would and they didn't disappoint. I'd love to know what they think a real revival is. On the other hand, I'm concerned to hear that Todd Bentley has showed up and that any random person is permitted to take the platform and mic. A revival isn't a free-for-all, come-one-come all. It is a work of the Holy Spirit but should still be handled carefully by wise, mature Christians to avoid a Todd Bentley-esque experience. I'm not sure I'd even let him thru the door.
@stevenl1706 Жыл бұрын
@@AfterTheRain_Beth “I haven’t looked into it much yet” then maybe you shouldn’t be endorsing something you know nothing about. If you did, you’d see that asbury was planned weeks in advance of their “planned revival meeting” for February 23rd. And then they preach some milquetoast sermonette on February 8th and they say that started it, but then you have false teachers like Francis Chan praying for an “asbury revival” on February 1st and posted to KZbin on February 2nd. Then the guy who preached the watered down sermonette on February 8th ended it “begging God for revival.” All incredibly coincidental.

The first part about judgment...I totally agree. Many Christians when you talk to them about judgment coming they say " you know a different God because I serve a God that loves"... I'm like so do I! I see judgment as love. Like all the bad being done to innocent people and children. 8 million children going missing a year... No doubt missing because of evil people using them for all kinds of rituals. It's love that judges and holds accountable. Follow Jesus then there is nothing that will ever come against you that won't work out for your good... Not matter how bad it looks at the moment.

Mike, as you said, there was no temple yet in the book of Judges, so the daughter could not serve there. In my heart of hearts, I believe the point of his sacrificing his daughter is the sad refrain in the Book of Judges: 'in that day men did what was right in their own eyes'. And our culture is now doing exactly that.
@shawnarider916 Жыл бұрын
Kevin Rider - Mike you've got good insight into this. It's both, in our heart yearns a cry for justice and also we want them to be saved if it can be so most of all. I remember through my 20's my dad being an alcoholic and still living at home concerned to leave my mom with him in this state, and going to a very physical job being torn down constantly by a guy I was working with, and at the same time reading through the Bible and the Psalms of David at this time and finding comfort in his words to God towards his adversary. It was a place to take it to where your not the one carrying out the just judgment yourself, but placing in God's hands, and yet it was an outlet, but also praying that God first and foremost might change them, but if unable because man has free will - then judgment. So yes, both and a comfort and an outlet to read through the Psalms when going through long standing demeaning trials such as these. God Bless, love your gift of discerning God's truth in the scriptures.

As someone who grew up in church and Bible college, I always appreciate being reminded of the specifics about the faith I have that I don't feel a need to explain to myself. Hope that makes sense. I've heard Christians say that they avoid the Imprecatory Psalms. I love them. They're real! Appeal to God with your feelings. Give them to Him. To address the "doing something else while worshipping" conversation that I only saw at the end... 1. If you are primarily worshipping, yes, don't distract yourself from full devotion to God with other things. 2. If you are primarily doing something else, and could also be worshipping, why not do that too? And if you find that you want to be worshipping, it's OK to stop doing the other thing and focus on worship. People sometimes look at worship as an isolated event that happens while singing, and it's so much more. We can be showing our appreciation for God's worth at any time. The root of integrity is "integrate". If we integrate all areas of our life into our relationship with God, worship will naturally flow out of all of them. (Notice I don't say that we integrate our relationship with God into all areas of our life... it's a mental shift between inviting God into a life that I control, and laying all areas of my life before God's control.) Are we going to be perfect at this? Probably not. But to the person who plays Minecraft while worshipping, ask yourself what is more important. If you are doing both because you are worshipping, but just can't stop playing Minecraft - as fun as it can be, it is a distraction. If you are doing both because you are playing Minecraft, but just can't stop worshipping... that is a sign of something much better. To an onlooker, both situations might look the same. But the heart is very different. The goal of "less Minecraft" is a man-focused rule. The goal of "more worship" is a God-focused rule, and will lead to less Minecraft. (The things of this world grow dim in comparison to His glory, and the life we can have in Him!)

Q11 has troubled me for a while. My dad was saved in his early 20s but spent his whole life drinking and eventually died as a result age 80 in 2020. A 24/7 alcoholic. He was not a good man. Worse sober. But he always believed. He went thru phases of going to church and trying to read his bible but they didn't last long. When he died all I could think was, where is he now? Even tho I had mixed feelings about him, I couldn't bear the thought that he might be in hell. Kind people tried to reassure me by saying, whatever he did in life he didn't stop believing. And that's true. He never wavered in his belief. Sometimes he said he thought his soul was lost. Didn't spur him into action tho. So I can only hope that God's grace somehow saw him through. I stopped asking eventually as I realised I didn't want anyone to actually say, yes he's probably in hell.

23:48 I just watched your video on Joseph Smith and my mind is blown because that is what I have been trying to articulate how to say it by asking this question you had as question number two in this video.
@AT78146 Жыл бұрын
Awesome talk on the first question man 👏👏👏 Also the one thing I would add would be: Matthew 7:1-5 1 “Judge not, that you be not judged. 3 For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. 3 Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? 4 Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye. I'm not saying the "We should never judge." But I'm really feeling God putting this one on me at the moment. I feel it like "Am I guilty of the same or similar sin, even internally? Am I ready to expect the same things to come against me in my hypocrisy?" A lot of the time I find myself renouncing prayers against them. And instead end up praying for their repentance, my repentance and for The Lord to have mercy on both me and them. Because very often we are quick to cast judgement when we are guilty of similar things. Also: Ephesians 4:30-32 30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31 Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. 32 Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you. Hope this helps somebody. Thanks for the video brother. May The God Of All Creation have mercy on us all ❤✝️

"Heap coals on the head" is a figure of speech referencing the way in which it was carried. They were carried in a basket or bowl on the head and during cold days would provide warmth. That fits more in the context of feeding them, and also comports with "the goodness of God leads a man to repentance."

I appreciate your answer to the first question, as I do agree. I heard from a pastor about being angry and not sinning and how they (the imprecatory psalms) are very destructive and call others death. But these are inspired given angry psalms. We often mess up and say and do foul things when we are angry, but the bible has a prayer book for anger and divinely inspired things for us to say. They're the best thing we probably can pray when we're angry. However, yes, we should not be stuck in this anger forever and just pray these over everyone we meet because we hate them all.

The books of Genesis and John are connected in my eyes. Mostly because I can see the whole of scripture in those two books or at least what I see as most important. They express the power, the authority, and the love of God. They show how things were made and why things are as they are and they show God's demands on us and the promises God has for us. Genesis shows the promise, John shows that promise fulfilled.

One of the best explanations of the story of Jephtha I've heard is that at this time, the other Gods being worshipped believed in human sacrifice to their gods and that God himself didn't require this, and the fact that Jephtha even made this promise is a testament to how little he understood God or tried to know him on a personal level any more than the other gods. He didn't recognize the glory of God as a better God than the ones the people were serving. This can be seen as a lesson in what you will cost yourself when you are not careful with what you bargain with to ask of a favor from God without understanding his perfect love for you.

No, I'm kidding I know pagan expressions are ingrained in our culture. I said "I wish" and "karma". This was an interesting video. It's a comforting to know that as a Christian I no longer have to worry about weapons formed against me. And when someone hurts me I actually have to pray God have mercy because I couldn't even dream up some of the things He's doled out. God doesn't punish according to the sin. It goes according to the suffering that the sin has caused.

That's why the world looks at us & says hypocrite.

I hear the Bible teaches that our enemy is not flesh and blood. So if we hold that surely and then pray for wrath on our enemies, we should know that God knows their hearts and their struggles. When my heart was haughty and my struggles were great, a taste of justice would save my soul in remembering who God is and how I need him.

I think you are 100% right- Ps 58 is an imprecation against satan and the evil forces ( Eph 6:12) and David being a prophet ( Acts 2:30) was shown how evil will be openly shamed ( Col 2:15) and breaking the teeth of the “lion” ( 1 Pet 5:8-9) ~ Ps 91:13 - by nailing the legal demand for our sin to the cross in Christ ( Col 2:14) so figuratively taking out the accusing teeth of satan - because legally the price for our sin has been paid🙌😃

In regards to question 1 where you rhetorically ask, "What if I pray for them and they don't repent," I think Psalms 37 is helpful. It starts off "Do not fret because of evildoers, Nor be envious of the workers of iniquity. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, And wither as the green herb. Trust in the LORD, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He shall give you the desires of your heart."

Before I moved to Maine I attended a very small Church of God in GA. They were like most churches in the South, very strict about dress code, etc. When I moved to ME I was invited by my best friend to a church that is part of the Southern Baptist ministry, but is NOTHING like any Baptist church I ever attended. They wore jeans and the children kind of run wild and people sing and dance up front, literally nothing like the button down type of church I like. I told my best friend how much I missed our little church often, so when we got a chance to travel to GA together she naturally had to see this church. She was stunned first by the dress requirements, dresses and no bare legs, she was stunned to learn she needed to wear stockings! Then when we were singing my young daughter started dancing a little and I scolded her. My friend thought I was being harsh and asked the pastors wife why she couldn't dance and the pastors wife said, "Honey, Baptists don't boogie!". It was all I could do to keep from laughing at the expression on my friend's face. She loved the people there and attended every morning and evening service because the fellowship there was so warm and wonderful, and we sang for the church during the open mike period one Wednesday, but she said she just couldn't understand why everyone was so uptight about how we dressed and dancing, You can call yourself a Southern Baptist church, but until you've actually been to one you have no clue how far off you are.

Love the question about beards!! In the 70s my husband had long hair. He was a Christian, and visited his friends' church one Sunday. That Sunday the preacher chose to preach on the 'fact' that all long haired men were going to hell. Now I doubt men in the OT or NT had buzz cuts, so define long. He thought it was funny.

I liked what you said about Asbury University (not Asbury Seminary). They are two different entities across the street from each other in Wilmore, KY. I'm an alumnus of the Seminary, so I was eager to return to Wilmore to see for myself. I can say confidently, it's the real deal. Does that mean everything that was done and said by every person there was holy and divinely inspired? Obviously not. Taken in whole however, the people who attended were hungry for God ... and for more than they had been receiving in their individual contexts. We praised God, we prayed for each other, we confessed, we repented, we asked for and received forgiveness (from God and each other), and throughout the three days I was there was a pervasive feeling of joy and hope and love. There is so much more I could say.

@@dman7668That's biblically incorrect. Romans 4:5 - "Not to the one who works, but to the one who believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, His faith is credited as righteousness." Ephesians 2:8-9 "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not of yourselves. It is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no-one may boast. Not as a result of works, at all. In context, James 2 is speaking about how faith in Christ leads to works that can show a person is saved. That's justification before men, not God. The Bible repeatedly says that the justification before God comes through faith.
@michaal105 Жыл бұрын
@@dman7668 "None of the passages you cited talked about justification by faith alone" - Romans 4:5 directly speaks of faith being credited as righteousness and contrasts it to the one who works to be righteous. Ephesians 2:8-9 also expressly says we are saved by grace through faith and that our salvation is not of works, so that no-one may boast. I could mention Titus 3:5 which says that we are saved "not by works of righteousness which we have done." What do you believe these passages mean?
@michaal105 Жыл бұрын
@@dman7668 Ephesians isn't condemning works at all. It's saying works don't save you. Grace through faith does. You say when Ephesians 2 says not of works it means not of works of the law, but of works leading to justification and righteousness. That's incorrect. It's says not of works "so that no-one may boast." Your theology of being justified by works that lead to righteousness would give you reason to boast, but the Bible says salvation is not of works so that "no-one may boast." And the passage in Romans 4:5 expressly says righteousness is "not to the one who works", *expressly* saying the exact opposite of the point you are trying to make. "Not to the one who works" - Romans 4:5 And Titus 3:5 says "Not by works of righteousness". That's 3 for 3. And I could give you more. You need to believe what the word of God says, because as of now you haven't believed the gospel and aren't saved. Repent.

It’s works of Law not Christian works. Paul discussed works of law as having no impact on eternal salvation. *ROMANS 3:20, 28* *GALATIANS 2:16* Paul discussed boasting in the context of “works of law” since the religious leaders of that day were inclined and often boasted about how much better they adhered to the Law than others. *LUKE 18:11-12* - The Pharisee, standing by himself, prayed[fn] thus: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. 18:12 - ➡️I fast twice a week;⬅️I ➡️give tithes of all that I get.’⬅️ Works of law = fasting, tithing, etc. Pharisees boasted about their works, knowledge, and adherence to the law. In fact, Paul was a Pharisee before his conversion so he more than likely exhibited the same behavior which would have given him a unique perspective of BOASTING in works associated with the Law of Moses. *MATTHEW 7:47-49* - Pharisees speak with derision about a crowd who doesn’t KNOW the law. Calls them all cursed.

Paul was not condemning or stating that true followers of Christ didn’t need to engage in the WORK Jesus left for his disciples TO DO… *MATTHEW 28:19-20* Please read the scriptures BETTER. Read how Paul WORKED continuously to spread the gospel. He preached! He taught! He baptized! He went of evangelizing tours! He defended his faith before government officials! AND GUESS WHAT… Paul even BOASTED about all the things he did in ➡️SERVICE TO CHRIST⬅️ Let’s read it together… *2 CORINTHIANS 11:16-18, 23-27* I repeat: Let no one consider me a fool. But if you do, at least accept me as a fool so that I can also boast a little. 11:17 - What I am saying in this matter of boasting, I don’t speak as the Lord would, but as it were, foolishly. 11:18 - Since many boast according to the flesh, ➡️I will also boast.⬅️ What did Paul boast about? HIS WORKS in service to Christ. His ministry!! *2 CORINTHIANS 11:23-27* Are they servants of Christ? I’m talking like a madman - I’m a better one: with far more labors, many more imprisonments, far worse beatings, many times near death. 11:24 - Five times I received the forty lashes minus one from the Jews. 11:25 - Three times I was beaten with rods. Once I received a stoning. Three times I was shipwrecked. I have spent a night and a day in the open sea. 11:26 - On frequent journeys, I faced dangers from rivers, dangers from robbers, dangers from my own people, dangers from Gentiles, dangers in the city, dangers in the wilderness, dangers at sea, and dangers among false brothers; 11:27 - toil and hardship, many sleepless nights, hunger and thirst, often without food, cold, and without clothing. *1 CORINTHIANS 15:10* - But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace toward me was not in vain. On the contrary, ➡️I worked harder⬅️ than any of them, yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me. Paul also MAGNIFIED is own ministry. Some translations say he took PRIDE in it. *ROMANS 11:13* - But I am speaking to you who are Gentiles. Therefore insofar as I am an apostle of Gentiles, ➡️I magnify my⬅️ ministry. So, I’m not that ignorant to believe Paul’s words suggested no one needs to do any work AT ALL and they can still be saved WHILE Paul himself LABORED and TOILED much to his own danger and suffering in service to Christ. NO WAY would Paul instruct his audience not to do any work in service to Christ, simply believe or have faith and lazily recline on their couches and believe God gave them the greatest gift without them lifting a finger ALL THE WHILE Paul chose not to take his own instruction but put himself in constant danger, suffering, and being imprisoned multiple times all in service to Christ. NONSENSE!!!
