It amazes me how Pat came from humble beginnings and built an empire from ground up. I really feel that he must have believed on himself in a gigantic size just to foresee where he is heading to when he was still starting to build his success.

Patrick you're prophetic my Brother. I actually thought I'd become crazy. Ive just graduated last month, i have a basic 9-5pm. I sleep 6-11pm, start coding at 1am-7am, then off to work, weekends im fulltime coding & strategizing my project. Through the 9-5pm, i basically spend 95% running through scenario's, product designs, strategies, models, and by launch time i grab my Sketchbook, and note down all ideas to be implemented when i get home. Ive been doing this for about 2-3years, that i do this unconsciously now, i feel like im in such a hurry. I cant handle bullshit conversations about nothing. On my bus rides i read pdf papers on Cloud/Networking/internet technology in attempt to trully become an expert. What you're saying here is great to hear, because ive gone from alot of friends to simply hanging on my own. It feels like we dont speak the same language anymore. I work so hard because i want to revolutionize the tech industry in Africa, im tired of the bullshit narrative my country has. I believe only innovation & capitalism can change this. Even if i fail i have to be an example for the ones who'll get it right in the future.

Just remember that networking is the key to building a successful company because it is here you develop an all star team and can put together partnerships as well as get a lot of good ideas and be able to validate and/or amend your current ones through conversations with smart people. If you're looking to build a successful company you cannot isolate yourself. You need people, you need relationships, and you need constant engagement with people. It is not a solo mission. It may begin as one but your goal is to make as many people buy into it and be a part of it as possible. Remember, as Founder, success means you build something so attractive and lucrative other more talented leaders want and will take over for you as ceo and take it to the next level. You are quite literally building success until you made yourself as ceo not the best choice for the ceo position. You're building yourself into unemployment. That's what a good founder-ceo aims for. This is not about ego. You can have the ego with what you left behind when you finally create your exit / liquidity event. YOU NEED TO CONSTANTLY BE ENGAGING WITH PEOPLE ON ALL KINDS OF LEVELS TO BUILD SOMETHING TRULY SUECESSFUL. It took me 35 years to learn this.

You're speaking right to me here, sometimes I feel absolutely mad to be doing this to myself, some days it feels like I'm chasing a dream at the expense of a life - but deep breaths, recall my purpose, walk a bit, talk outloud with a dictaphone, suddenly it all comes back and can be made sense of. I'm a founder. I checked the box for 18/20 of these. I completely agree about the importance of every executive role within a company and also completely agree that a founder is rarely the person who takes the company to the next level. There is a time I know it will be best to step down and let a seasoned manager take what I and my team built to another level. And I am totally fine with that because a) I'd rather have less or no control of something much more successful and enriching than the reverse, and b) I have 6 more ideas I am dying to build. I bring to life my visions of what should be or what will be in the future. Managing a success is much less interesting to me and because of that I recognize that's when you're most vulnerable to making company sinking mistakes. Although I believe I would be a good manager of an already elevated company as I would constantly want to grow the company through evolving it and keep it forward thinking, unlike google, microsoft, and even apple who are all hardly tech companies building the future anymore but instead consumer goods companies who only slightly tweak the product / service with a new bell and whistle hear and there but don't actually innovate and create too much. Ex. Google sitting on billions in cash because they have run out of ideas to build.

Hello, Pat. This is My first Comment on your videos. I have been watching you since last 8 months or so. Luckily I was at the brick of leaving my college studies, come back home to Bangladesh from Malaysia and start an e-commerce platform. The first two months I was watching your old videos for hours everyday which certainly helped me to decide and execute my plan. For the last 6 months I've been working on my idea and business, which isn't new but I'm trying to craft it as the best version of all time in context to my country. We're still in development phrase and waiting for our product which is the website and app to be finished. At first it was like 2 months to start but after all these months it's still looks like another couple. I've lost people around me and left with only one of the 9/10 people I had. But we are holding strong and trying to hire new people who suits our company as well as has the urge. But the number one problem is money. We have very little fund and salary we can offer is nothing compared to our competitors. We are already paying the price of not spending enough to hire specialist on development which could've gave the product sooner then where we at now. I don't what's gonna happen, but I believe we can make it. Just wanted to share this you as we might never get the chance of talking. I would like you to inform that you're doing a tremendous job helping entrepreneurs all over the world. God bless you. Thank you for all your videos and advice.

For 4 years, as i pursued culinary as a career after retail, i worked for a start up cooking food for dogs for a Polish man named Peter. A lot happened during those 4 years that now looking back a year after going out of business, I am currently working on a side business and have found a lot of similarities between his start up and my side hustle Peter taught me a lot by his words and his actions. He is such a kind man. I miss those days.

I thought I would just fail and give up but it's getting worse. Last night I couldn't sleep for nearly an hour because of it. Please hurry up so I can get redeemed! Hi Patrick, I believe the "Moody" part is not really about moodiness. For me, it's just Professionalism. When we're talking about business, it's just business; talking about plans, just plans; talking about what went wrong, the difficulties and challenges, we're just talking about those and nothing else. It doesn't change my relationship with whom I'm talking to. And so after all the brainstorming and difficult discussions, we could always go back to being the good friends that we are. Nothing personal. :) This is just for me.
