I love the PVC idea at 8:13. I used to have a photography studio years ago, and I made all of my light stands, light boxes, and other jigs, out of PVC. These items cost thousands of dollars if you buy it from a photographic equipment store. I made all of my stands for mere pennies on the dollar. PVC is so incredibly versatile, and a great way to store things like shown in your video. Our imagination is the only limitation.

This whole system is absolutely BRILLIANT!!! Beautiful in their simplicity, design, and use of scrap wood. This is my system of the future when I can finally get my dust situation brought under control. Open access is so convenient! At present, I have everything in the bags they came with and have to remember which bag contains which tool. I have to label the bags. But with this open access, problem is gone! Thanks so much for sharing!!!

Thank you for making this video. I have moved into shop #3, which is unfortunately small and narrow. I have installed a French Cleat system on all available walls in an attempt to maximize storage. I have been making small tool boxes for my kids for years. I never thought of adding a cleat to them, but I think it may be a good way to store the 20,000 screws in 20 sizes that currently clutter my bench. I will build a box for each diameter with compartments for each length. I really like the circular saw solution that you are using which is perfect for my track saw and little cordless saw which would get a lot more use if it was more available. Thanks again for the clever, practical ideas which just work.

Specific Love Creations thank you, I just recently upgraded my old harbor freight miter saw to a 12 inch Ryobi sliding miter. I sold a coffee table I made and was able to pay the saw off. I think I’m going to attempt to make the miter saw stand you made for my saw and just alter the dimensions slightly. I might try out some locking “L” Brackets instead of 2x4 supports for the extension wings but I might as well give it a go. Having so much time of because of all the covid stuff has left me with limitless time to make pretty much whatever I want. I am considering trying to build your narrow workbench as well because my shop is in a 2 car garage that both my mom and dad park in. I store most of my tools in the basement and make nifty little holders for them. I made your crescent wrench holder, spring clamp holder and a few other but I’ve also came up with a few designs on my own. I’m still waiting for a part 5 to the French cleat tool holder series.😂

It is funny that you mention #5 because I actually have it in the works, but it still might be a few weeks before it is released. Otherwise you sound like you have a great start to building stuff. Keep it up.

I've been working/building various projects since I was twelve in 1958 and this system is by and far the most sensible I've ever seen. The closest I ever came to it was when I'd bend an 'L' shaped aluminum chanel at a 60 degree angle which was then hung upon another corresponding chanel attached to a section of wood similar to how the French Cleat is connected; the only thing I see here is the French Cleat is easier to make since there is only one 45 degree cut to make many attachments, where many bends are needed to make the necessary amount of attachments needed for the same amount of tools. Trust me on this. So for the amount of time invested, the French Cleat is "hands down" simpler and therefore quicker. So as soon as I submit this comment I am going outside to build this system to hold all the tools my lovely Wife has bought for me for a "new" two level 10' by 12' by 14' high Tuff Shed, which she also had built for me last year and because I have six or seven tool sets by S.K. WAYNE (1958), Crescent, Craftsman, Proto, Husky, Kobalt, and Harbor Freight ( no, no problems ever). And because of all the hand held power tools I now have I really, really need to get things under control, so thank you for an excellent video and for sharing your knownedge.

I like the wrench holder. One way to improve it and make it with a lower profile rather than using a 2x4 down the middle is to use less thick wood instead. To secure the wrenches from falling off, you can get packs of inexpensive small magnets that can fit in the slots; however, up you can also simplify that part by making a vertical groove down the center backside and using a single long magnetic strip that is either exposed or close enough to the surface to magnetically hold the tool. I have seen people use the plain magnetic strips like those from Harbor Freight to hold their tools but the tools never lay straight enough to satisfy my perfectionist OCD tendencies. I think the combination of magnetic materials together with good wood design elements to keep tools aligned is a great combination for some tools and accessories. These make a nice and organized design that is pleasing to the eye and secure.

SLC, I have now built my own Grinder mount based on your idea and several others. I love it! Grinders are ungainly tools that take up so much space if you don't have a special way to store it.
