I liked how you covered anger management. Acknowledging that anger happens is a good thing - simply hiding anger/frustration at all costs can be as detrimental - but we need to master getting back in control before the next shot. The thing you did not cover is to enjoy the challenge of golf. A lot of people don’t enjoy this game because they can’t have fun not being good at something. But the beauty of golf is that when you do get even a little better it is extremely rewarding and fun.

As a scratch golfer who has played for 34 years I would say the most important thing is when you first start is to work with a golf pro for the first few months to get the grip down perfectly, the setup, ball position, etc. so that you start out with the fundamentals that should set up you for a lifetime of having at least a technically decent swing. I taught myself for the most part and once I ingrained some poor muscle memory I've been stuck with it. I really have never reached my full potential as a result.

GREAT TIPS FOR ALL GOLFERS... Simple and commonsense advice that will help every golfer get more enjoyment out of the game ! I taught myself the golf swing and (of course) built in LOTS of bad habits that needed to be later undone. My family couldn't afford golf lessons for me and didn't think my golf hobby justified paying to learn proper grip, stance, swing plane, etc. Learning good techniques and habits early, that could have been a solid foundation to build on in later years. If your children have genuine interest in a sport and some level of talent to have success in that sport , spend the attention and money that can help them develop their skills ! It will pay-off a hundred fold .

Love the video! Reassuring that I already know the 20 tips within my 2 years of play. Took many many failed rounds to learn these things though and often need to keep reminding myself. The one tip I would add that wasn't mentioned here "Don't take the hero shot". My scores dropped significantly once I started playing as if I had an extra stroke on every hole. When you're in a bad position, take the medicine and get back in play for a high % shot! As an amateur, we don't need more birdies, we need less triples and doubles. Limit the high numbers! Happy golfing everyone!

Agree 100% with tip 20. I would love to get a good coach. Problem is I can’t find one and it seems no one can agree on the swing mechanics. And on the rare chance you do find someone who is really good they want $300+/hr. Really, $600K/yr to teach golf😂

@@golfslump so what they have that you dont have. Short players struggle with distance. corey pavin with great short game could not win much. Only tall players win in Pga tour except few exceptions. May be off video you shank slice? Only show good shots? hahaha I am commenting on golfing videos to see who understand golf swing. None of golf teachers understand it. Bay jark channel self taught player When i see slot golf , i see they understand golf swing. Linn Grant understand it. Everyone shank if their thought somewhere else ..did not get good sleep previous night. Body need to be cajoled. So in that way PGA tour need military discipline to keep body in good shape. We see bryson hitting but the guy probably eating and doing gym all day probably After watching videos for few weeks , i understand what is going on. Here are my observation 1. Body shape ( tall short smaller waist , strong legs , chicken legs , strong upper body ) What is ideal? Ideal is one who have upper body is like spring on a pillar That means if you want to be in PGA tour you need a leg like body builder as source of stability and energy Most try to copy best looking swing but they never able to get it close because they dont have body shape for that 2. All golf coaches are morons. I understand their dilemma . They cant tell the swing secrets on youtube then every one copy it and dont give credit. So self sabotage is not allowed. So they are smart in one context by not giving full info whether due to ignorance or self interests 3. Posture. This is core of the swing. Most people dont have it. Then you may ask how 70 year of jack nikalus hit straight. He understand the swing. Once you got it , it can not be lost 4. There is lots of people hit straight with hands. and get into chicken legs . 5. Perfect swing hands do not move initial milli seconds. its knee moves first and drag hips and hand dont move until it reaches lower point That is slot line. When knees move , wrist will be near shoulder level and slot Plane. From there hip moves tiny early and bring the club in to hip level and hitting zoom like scooping the ball. The problem amateur have is that they start swing with hands. They think they can control it . Old people do that but Only Best swing shot is scooping, in that club face straighter extra second. Basically inside out shot if you plan to play in PGAtour , you have to be 90% Green in regulation because those roughs are bogey written all over it. May be carry a hybrid instead of 3 iron. Pro play style is maximize positive , reduce negative. Distance hunting for short player is full of risk. One bad hole turn into chain of bad holes and miss the cut. I mean people lose the will to fight after few holes. So for you to play Pga tour , You need to have pitch shot that is tracking hole. you got putting covered. See linn grant , she cant buy a putt. Instead of making par , around the green you need feel like you will make birdie even with bunker chip and pitch and flop. Every thing practiced ahead and every spot you need to have atleast 3 choice of shot. But clarity of mind and thought on which will give you best chance to birdie. Good caddy is Key because someone one in your ear is good giving you options. One Thing i advice you. Wear glass like david duval. No should read your thought. if its allowed. Speak in whisper voice to caddy Beliefs make dream reality. if 2000 people watching on golf course think same thought it influence your mind in return What ever may be , Your need super strong muscle legs. Need to eat lots and lots of lean chicken and 600lb leg squat and forget golf for few months Key to good golf shot is your center of gravity to be closest to ball.. meaning upper body has to bend optimal , in that way you will hit slot shot that is gravity will do the movement your hand just guiding it on its way

Great video, but finding a genuinely helpful instructor can be challenging. I've had a few in the past, and it often felt like their main goal was just to get me to sign up for more lessons. I once signed up for a 5-lesson package where all the instructor talked about was shallowing my club. Then, when I went to a new instructor, they told me to focus on something completely different. Since then, I have stopped taking lessons or trusting any instructor. It's all been KZbin and I have been able to drop my handicap from 16 to a 4.

I’d like to see the math on the high shot vs bump and run. I’ve always heard the bump and run has less error but why? For example if the shot is hit at a 5 vs a 6 strength, does a bump and run change by 5y whereas high shot does 10y?

1. Get a teacher that will help with the fundamentals. 2. Don’t buy brand new gear, buy used. 3. Make sure the equipment you do get is fit for you. It doesn’t have to be a perfect fitting, just make the clubs aren’t fighting you. 4. Always be conscious of the people in your surroundings. 5. Remember to have fun because it’s just a game.
