Anyone who hasn't watched Savageland needs to drop everything and do it NOW. It's a stunning example of found footage/mockumentary, and it cuts deep into America's border policy and attitude towards migrant labour.

Thanks for bringing Thesis into attention. Feels like this movie never got the recognition it deserved outside Spain or Spanish-speaking countries. Perhaps is because it's less of a slasher movie and more or a thriller (and an excellent one on that) which deals with actual themes (the line of "it's about giving people what they want" feels more relevant today than before in more ways than one) The one-two that Alejandro Amenabar delivered with this movie and Open Your Eyes (which got remade in the US as Vanilla Sky in 2001) as his first two directed works is a feat many directors would envy. The cast deserves its own recognition with Ana Torrent, Fele Martínez and Eduardo Noriega doing excellent work. IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THESIS, PLEASE DO SO!

Jennifer Lynch's other film, Boxing Helena, shares a lot in common with Chained, as in they both star vulnerable objects of obsession who are in some way crippled into submission by a single powerful but unstable, terrifying man, who they develop a borderline Stockholm Syndrome. What a strangely specific story base to repeat. All directors/writers have a story base that repeats. This one is hers.

@@inframeout If one can’t handle the darker side, along with things good, bad and otherwise, with all the absurdities, any subculture of people can have within it, especially when it’s part of a larger one, that is the majority of U.S. citizens, in a lot of the nation, they likely won’t have any ability to act reasonably. Most Christian’s, that I’ve known, were able to watch and see what was intended by the filmmaker, or at least not feel offended by it. I went to a high school that had a scandal, because a Vice Principal and a teacher/soccer coach were telling certain female students to go an hour away to a Megachurch with them. It was the 90’s _shaker_ phenomenon’s biggest church. Brownsville Revival, near Pensacola, FL They put on a theatrical show. It’s part rock concert, then they have a bunch of true believers shake on the ground, speak in tongues, etc. until others feel like if they aren’t doing it, they aren’t getting it, or Christian enough. I witnessed a pastor tell a few girls that they needed to be more open about receiving the Spirit, “like their friends.” I talked to these people, as there were boys as well. Most admit to faking it for fun, or they don’t know why, or they’ll admit they felt weird and left out, or pressured, and some even guilty that they were sinful. It’s a cult.

Pretty much hated “all my friends hate me” because it’s just one joke, one type of scene over and over AND OVER again throughout the whole movie. Are they joking? Or not? Or not not? Isn’t it awkward? Isn’t it? How awkward is that? Really hoped for something to change but it didn’t, even the last line of the last shot of the movie is the same: isn’t it awkward when you don’t know if they’re joking or not or not or not?

Have to give this a thumbs up just for The Cremator, a superb choice. That lead performance is astonishing and Hrusinksky really was an amazing piece of casting. Not familiar with most of the others here, but I'm fully in favour of Pieces and Stagefright too. (And you didn't even mention the "bad chop suey" scene in the former!) There's a theory, offered by one of the actors, that Pieces was in fact meant as a pisstake, but if it was no one realised while they were making it. And you have me VERY interested in Timekeepers of Eternity, which I've not previously heard of.

Not sure if its underrated, but I loved the classic, "Children shouldn't Play with dead things" - A bunch of idiot theater kids go to an island cemetery and accidentally conjure up the dead. Plus: "Howl": a fun, breezy werewolf film on a train. "Deranged" - a 1974 film directed by, no joke, the Santa Clause from a Christmas Story; it's a retelling of the Ed Gein story. "The Baby" - has crazy twist at the very end

Easily my favourite Ben Wheatley film, and the only reason I haven't covered it on these lists yet is because I wasn't sure if it was underrated/under seen enough (maybe I'll cover it in a full video some day)

Bronson Pinchot…where have I seen Bronson Pinchot…I don’t know, the guy seems like a perfectly normal stranger, but I can’t put my finger on it. Oh well, guess I’ll never know. Welp, time to watch Stephen King’s The Langoliers for the 28th year in a row…hey wait a minute! I forgot David Morse is in The Langoliers. Isn’t that funny?

I don't get how people can like Final Exam. It strangely has more then few fans. But it's really uninspired slasher movie even for 80s, like there were dozen slashers released theatrically in 1980-1981, Final Exam just had video release. Even the killer isn't remarkable, it's nameless guy in green jacket with a knife, he doesn't even have a backstory like Jason or Cropsy, etc, he's just some random guy. If you like it, it's perfectly fine, but I never got the appeal, there are ton of better slasher movies then it, the most interesting thing about this movie was that bizarre scene when they stage a fake school shooting in order to skip the school test (ok?) and casting if anything else, because the nerdy guy who's obsessed with serial killers and is suppose to be in love with final girl is clearly a gay actor. It's such a basic movie that I expected it's gonna be the twist where he might be the killer and twist be around him being gay and saving the day, but nah, they just cast a gay actor in the role. However I think it had Arrow release, so that at least tell it has some sort of popularity among horror fans. If anyone is actually fan of this one, tell me why you like it, I am kinda curious.

By asking for suggestions aren't you asking folks to share their " Best Horror Movie" that they love YOU "Never Saw" or is underappeciated. I enjoy what you do and our intrests dovetail mostly, but maybe it's age for me but remember not everything you don't like is bad and not every opinion you disagree with is wrong. 1:10 in, time to continue.

I find that most people who throw around the word "misogyny" have no idea what the word means. Worse, when shown what it really is, rather than admit their original accusation was misplaced, they quadruple down and insist that misogyny is, basically, whatever they say it is.... so that they can have their "misogynist" Western culture that they are "victim" of, as well as (say) South Korea, as shown in the film about that.
