@11:11 - A lot of times mixes don't even need a real egg "replacement"! I made vegan pancakes from an accidentally vegan pancake mix this weekend. I just didn't add eggs, just a little extra vegan milk and it was perfect! Otherwise, I think about what the egg is doing in the recipe - is it adding some fat and leavening? Then I'll add a tablespoon of oil and a tiny bit of baking powder or soda! Works perfectly so often. 👌

Some mexican restaurants will put chicken broth or bouillon into their rice and sometimes the salsa as well.

This is important to note! I was surprised they only mentioned lard.

Very helpful video, thanks! My hack is soy milk. It's generally the cheapest vegan milk and stores tend to have own-brands. It's nutritionally the most similar to cow's milk, high in protein and I've even just found a "growing up milk" fortified version that I'm feeding my baby who's weaning.

Thanks for the great tips, ladies! I agree about veganizing standard recipes rather than looking for vegan recipes. I once won a big chili cook-off because I based my chili on prize winning meat chili's, as opposed to vegan chili's. ❤

Don't tell anyone but my vegan banana bread is just the better homes and garden recipe with a flax egg. Everyone loves it. Way better than Trader Joe's (and much cheaper!)

One thing to note is that something being labeled “cruelty free” doesn’t mean it’s vegan. Also, regarding shoes, the inside of the shoe often lists the materials.

Similar to Joi’s suggestion with liquid smoke, one of my favorite cooking hacks is bouillon (specifically Better Than Bouillon). It has so much concentrated flavor and it takes the dish to the next level 👌

Talking about making bad coffee better. If you add a pinch of salt to coffee it takes away some of the bitterness. I add some to my coffee grounds when I brew but I love it for super strong diner coffee. Not enough to make it salty, it just takes the edge off.

Thank you for the suggestions, very helpful. My tip for vegans, and those wanting to become vegan, is to always read the ingredients list for whatever you may be purchasing. If an item, without a vegan symbol printed on it, has the words, "natural flavors," in the ingredients. be weary of buying it, check online, or with an app, to see if the product is actually vegan, because sometimes, when seeing the, "natural flavors" ingredient, that means that the product could contain animal products. Also, some dyes, used for food coloring, are not vegan, so always check online, or call the questions or comments phone number, if there is one on the item. 🤗😊

Eggs are NOT for "thickening" -- that's generally starches. Eggs serve as binders and leaving agents (as well as giving structure).

Need to be careful with sauces at Mexican food restaurants if you just ask for any sauce like the red sauce. Red sauce at most Mexican food restaurants are made with little bits of meat or meat broth. Most sauces in general in Mexican food restaurants are made with either meat, meat broth, or some dairy product. The sauce would have to be specified to be made vegan. I worked at a Mexican restaurant, so that is how I know most sauces aren't vegan. Most servers are also unaware that meat broth isn't vegan (weird, I know), or they just don't know that the cooks in the back use a meat broth for the sauce, so they recommend a meat broth-based sauce for vegans like the red sauce. I avoid any of these sauces unless it states clearly on the menu "vegan" next to the sauce.

Love you guys and all these tips thank you!! I just had a question when a product says cruelty free does that mean it’s vegan always? Or does it just mean it’s not tested on animals? Because I’ve seen some products that say cruelty free and vegan so I try to buy those instead.
@MegaGreencarebear3 жыл бұрын
As far as I'm aware products can sometimes be just one or the other. It's ridiculous! If it doesn't say both, don't assume it's both.
@TheVeganView3 жыл бұрын
It’s very confusing, great question! A product can technically be “vegan” which means it contains no animal ingredients, but it can still be tested on animals which means it’s not cruelty-free. Alternatively a product can be Cruelty-Free but also contain an animal ingredient like beeswax, etc. Of course, we don’t find these terms to be mutually exclusive but in the beauty world they do!

mm i love you guys but i don't like the part where it seams like its a bad thing if we are vegan for our own purity and would care about where the fries were cooked of course i feel deal deeply for the animals but i ALSO know its extremely unhealthy to have any traces of them in my body after watching "what the health" lol i think its okay to do it for the animals AND ourselves
