Thanks Dave Johnston! Out of my 1,200 + hours in csgo Dust II is the map I play about 90% of the time. Never have I played a better map in any shooter ever and I believe this map is the greatest multiplayer map of all time. I was going through depression in high school because I didn't have many friends and was constantly bullied. But when I came home and booted up a game of csgo on Dust II I could forget about all my problems if only for a little while. Again thank you for the countless hours of entertainment and creating the greatest map of all time!

Man, those very good times... I aleays went to Kosovo in my holidays, cause my parents came from there. After the Yugoslawian wars, 2001, we were playing 1.6 there. In some underground pc bars, where people got violent while playing against others sitting next to them. Our 1.6 characters had custom models. The CT force was modeled as serbian military, while the T force was like UÇK Albanian para military. Do you remember the sound-mods you could unstall? "Heeaaadddshoooottt" - "Killing spree" - "total domination" etc? In that customer version of Kosovo those sounds were Albanian and serbian cursing. I really miss those days. I mean: real war is bullshit! Those countries should take important political and socity problems down to a match making 5on5 in Cs:go or 1.6!

I have been playing since June of 1999 and I believe that De_Dust and De_Aztec should have stayed as they will be missed. I stop playing when they blocked custom skinning and sound mods whilst charging real money for skins that any eight year old can sketch on a napkin. Still remember finding out about CS for the first time, with my younger brother around 2000 or mabye 1999, in a PC shop with PC's connected via LAN modems. We were stunned that in a game we could actually see each others, it was a revolution for us. And that evening we spent a lot of money and time playing, then going home again to get some extra money, and go back to the shop. The very first map we played was militia. Internet wasn't a common thing in Syria until after 2000 so we would save some money to go and play it multiplayer until we got another PC in 2003. But PC gaming network shops thrived a lot back then.

@@Meme.hustler oh I believe you. But the fun custom servers I used to go to no longer exist and the friends I made move on to greener pasture. Just saddens me sometimes. It felt like the best moments in my life like playing on one of cc_nipper's maps and using custom sprays as memes.

I used to play de_dust2 on a ranked CS:Source deathmatch server (no AWM) with 32 slots (always full) and endless round time (reset once per day) when I was young, still in school and my reflexes were on top. I honestly played 2-8 hours on this server for almost 3 years every day just to be one of the top 3 players who were figthing for rank 1 on the server. (I knew the others well and they were a motivating competition) I had a K/D of 6:1 and usually only died when I was surrounded by enemies and had to reload. Otherwise nobody had a chance against me. I was a superstar in the community of the server and everybody greeted me when I joined the game. When I had to join the army after my school time I couldn't keep my rank anymore because I only had internet every 2nd weekend and quickly dropped to rank 100+. But I will never forget all the fun and how worriless the time was back then. It's really sad that professional CS wasn't a big thing during this time because I'm pretty sure that I could have played for one of the big clans in my prime. That's why I know this map better than anything else. I wasted my best years for it!

Thanks for making this video. I played CS 1.5 - SOURCE. This has brought all the good memories back. I would love to play the newest dust2 again and see how much the game has advanced in 20yrs.
