I actually bought an 800 g1 and a gtx 1650 low profile. It works great. Minecraft at around 200 fps and blender and unity run well too.

I have used-used many Dell Optiplex SFF computers over the years for family, friends and myself. Not sure why I have not really done enough research but HP "800" series of SFF have the case design I have always wished for when it comes to SFF computers from all vendors. Why? because it can hold atleast 2x 3.5" HDD, 2x 2.5" & NVME (based on generation) all at same time. Which makes it a awesome small'ish capacity home storage server. I am personally planing to build one with 2xHDD in Mirror, 2.5" SSD as cache(absolutely not required but for home server experimental learning), 16GB Intel Optane nvme as OS drive with TrueNAS Scale.

I just got a 800 G3 (i5 7th gen Vpro)..I am moving into a diffrent gaming case (room is not a problem) and using only the motherboard and cpu...what would be the idea setup (new gpu,nee ssd/hard drive size,new power supply,new ram,etc.)to run games ( FN, mine craft, n roblox) and also a little video editing from streaming....and goooooo!!!!!👈👈 Thanks for the video...it is the BEST I have found and very to the point. Hey mate. I have found your videos super helpful with upgrading my own G1 but I have not seen the performance I was expecting. I have added a GTX 1650 GPU, upgraded the 500gb HHD to a 2T one (I work with a lot of photos and video), and added two extra 4GB 1600MHz ram, giving me a total of 16gb. The improvement is noticeable but so is this annoying stutter. It happens in games, when watching youtube videos and even when moving the mouse sometimes. Overall the computer doesn't feel very smooth. I'm not sure if there are some settings or drivers that need attention, even though device manager says drivers are ok. Do you have any thoughts on what could be causing this stutter. Its holding me back from loving this great little computer.

@@Cobuman No, not really. It was pretty smooth before the upgrades. One game in particular that the stuttering is super noticable in wouldn't even load before I upgraded so there is no comparison to be made there. I don't think it was present in the other scenarios I've outlined. I appreciate the support my friend 😊

@@mammoo93 If the whole system is stuttering regardless of what you're doing usually means that page file is being utilized. This type of stutter usually happens when someone runs out of RAM or the page file is set to something very low. When stutter is happening... check Task Manager under performance and see how much CPU and RAM is being used. To start with, this is what I would to do eliminate potential causes assuming your hardware is okay (aside from previously mentioned): 1. update Windows. 2. update GPU drivers. 3. Scan for viruses. 4. Check Virtual Ram settings. Keep in mind that some games are more demanding than others in which case you may have to lower settings-but the bigger issue here is that happens while doing other things which should not be the case. oh... the HDD you bought... did you install at the same time as the GPU? That could be the problem as well.

@@Cobuman 1. No Windows update available 2. Updated GPU driver via device manager, hasn't alleviated stutter in games or YT. 3. No viruses found 4. I'm not sure what Virtual Memory or a pagefile is, nor how to change their settings, I'm sorry. The HDD was installed a day after the GPU, and I should have mentioned that the C: drive is a separate smaller SSD which was unchanged. When in game, CPU was at around 50%, GPU was arou 70-90% and ram never exceeded ~7GB despite having 16GB installed.

@@mammoo93 The GPU usage in game seems pretty high for which I would try lowering the settings (might be running out of VRAM on the card). For the YT stuttering you also try resetting the browsers (clearing cookies and settings), for example if you use Chrome here is how you could do: kzbin.info/www/bejne/g4LPp36re76Nas0 For YT stutter you can also try to enable or disable hardware acceleration (in browser) that can fix it sometimes. This is one of those situations where I would have to have hands on access to your PC in order to recreate and fix the issue...

Hey! Thanks for the video. I'm in my 30s and haven't had a pc for about 7 years. I just bought a i5 g2 with 16gb of ram for 200 Australian dollars. Are there any more budget gpu you could recommend. I don't really play modern games, just for streaming a direct feed off my arcade machine onto twitch. Other then that, normal browsing and watching videos. Maybe I don't even need a gpu? Thanks for the video looks like if I decide to upgrade it will be easy as. I see some cheaper low profile ones but I'm just not sure what requirements I actually need.

Seems like a good model to get into the hobby cheaply. This is higher specs than what I could afford brand new. I went to look for laptops at 700aud and think I made a better decision.

its simply not worth upgrading the video card on these. the best you can get is 1030 and You arent finding it under 80 dollars, so $300 total? go in your local ads and wait for an actual , older gaming pc to come up for sale for cheap.

I see your point and partly agree; however, the best LP GPU you can get is GTX 1650 at this time. It's been many years since any new LP GPUs came and as far as we know... around a corner there might be a new LP coming out which could be a massive upgrade (assuming power draw is not too much). I completely agree with 1030... it's not good for anything at this point.

@@Cobuman I have a new issue. 8 months later. LOL! My PCIE 16-bit 5.1 sound card works great to this very day. I recently purchased an Asus GT730SL2GD5BRK 2GB DDR5 GPU. My problem is this: If I remove my PCIE 16-bit 5.1 sound card, where else can it go with my HP Elite Desk 800 G3 SFF? I see only one, black-in-color PCIE slot. There is a white-in-color PCI bridge -- is this an actual PCI bridge though? It seems too small for my new GT730 GPU Graphics Card. Can I attach my PCIE 16-bit 5.1 sound card to this smaller, white-in-color PCI bridge? Or, no? Also, there does not seem to be enough space to install the Asus GT730 GPU in the black-in-color, PCI bridge -- the GT730 graphics card is too long to be seated properly in the black-in-color, PCI bridge. I may need to return my Asus GT730 GPU for one that is less bulky in width and that will actually fit the PCI black-in-color bridge. If you could recommend solutions to how I retain my PCIE 16-bit 5.1 sound card on my HP Elite Desk 800 G3 SFF and still use an upgraded GPU video card, I would be greatly appreciative. Thank you.

It's fine for regular use. There might be some issues playing 4k videos (stutter) but if you're not going to play games it's perfectly fine.

I have a setup like this. It’s a HP elite desk 800 G2 SSF with a GTX 1650LP. It’s has a i5 37 something I can’t remember. Anyways, I am looking to upgrade to a 800 G3 SSF that has an i7 7700. Will my 1650LP work in the newer elite desk with a more power hungry 7700? Edit: I just noticed that the G3 comes with a 180W PSU while the elite desk I have now has a 200W PSU. This has me worried and I can’t find any confirmation anywhere on whether or not the 1650LP will for sure not cause problems. I bought my 1650LP towards the end of the GPU shortage last year so I paid more than I should have for it. Really don’t want to fry it. Maybe I can pull the 200W out of my old elite desk and put it in the G3 if I buy one? I’m really trying to understand! Lol

Buy yourself a midtower case, transplant the hardware and buy yourself a proper sized GPU. I did this with a SFF 800 G1, let me know if you have any questions. Edit: The SFF motherboard has standard mounting points so you can get any PC case you want!

i wouldnt call these things gaming pcs, and they are actually not that great for gaming for the value. For instance . I have an 800 G3 SFF with i7 , 16 gb RAM, and 256 GB SDD. Because It's used I could probably sell it for $250 on Ebay. If I wait long enough maybe $280 or $300 . ( Canadian Price ) My local ads on Kijiji, somebody had posted the other day an older ( probably 2011 or 2012) acer Razer Desktop PC with i7 4th generation , 1 TB HDD , a 770 graphics card ( Absolutely destroys the integrated 630 Intel graphics card that comes stock in these 800 series PCS , its about 500% more powerful ) with a shitty monitor, the keyboard the PC came with (solid keyboard) and a shitty mouse, for $200 ! . This is a rare find , but still. I've also come across ( and purchased ) an i5 with a 660ti and 500 GB HDD 250 GB SDD for $220 . SO these sales do happen. You just have to browse Your local sales websites frequently to snipe the deal. Its incredibly difficult to upgrade these 800 series computers, as the parts are mostly custom. The best Graphics card You can install in a G3 SFF is a 1030 without upgrading the power source. It all gets complicated and tiresome to try to deal with, although I've heard of a professional who upgraded tf out of one of them for fun. Again, not viable for someone on a budget.
