200 mile Flight After Work - In the Xenos Motorglider

Flew from Hobbs, NM to Shallowater, TX after work. Took a few pictures of my dad's orchard, fueled up in Levelland, TX and headed back home. Landed without a single minute to spare before sunset! That's important since gliders can't fly after sunset. Great fun!

Ectually, the rule says one may fly without external lighting from 30 minutes before sunrise, to 30 minutes after sunset in the Northern Hemisphere and still be legal. Also, a glider may fly after daylight hours if it has the correct VFR night lighting as req.

The operating limitations on this aircraft say Daytime VFR only, regardless of the FAR's.

@@laytonsoaring3173 Might be possible to get the Daytime VFR limitation removed with the appropriate night flying equipment mandated by the FAR. Not the person to ask about this could be something to look into.

@@Paiadakine It comes from the Operating Limitations for that aircraft. They could be changed by the FSDO if requested, and the aircraft is properly equipped. If you aren't familiar...the Xenos is an "Amateur-Built Experimental," so each one may vary significantly.
