Sorry but if whoever the driver of the rig its hard to beleive he is doing the speed limit in all those clips as he is always in the left lane passing most all drivers. Then in that restricted work area space is driving like a moron. Tries to pass and then tailgates the other rig. I do not want to bother timing the passing landmarks for actual VASCAR speed but...... If not most states have laws about rigs in the left lane especially when there is more than 2 lanes for a given direction. Even then they must be going the max speed limit regardless if they are passing or not and must give right of way to any other vehciles that come up on them just as all other vehicles are suppose to when in the far left lane and is why its called a passing lane. This driver based on the videos seems like riding the left lane. Rigs in the left lane are dangerous many times. They slow going up grades which causes other drivers to lane hop around them and it causes backups both of which create accident conditions. With all that said in the first clip the LE was a jerk. He may have wanted you out of the left lane as he wanted to pass you but you had every right unless it was restricted in that area to go back in the left to pass.

Here is a story from the time before dash cams. I was a young long haired hippy driving my 1946 Chevy pickup on state route 2 in WA. around 1979 and tooling along in the left lane of a divided 4 lane . Stater pulled me over for going too slow in the 'fast lane'. I was doing 50 in a 55. No cars anywhere around. It was obvious he just pulled me to cause trouble. I am fairly certain I wasn't breaking any laws, but he let me off with a warning. Such a nice guy. So I proceeded to to re-enter traffic and immediately went into the left lane but was doing 55 on the nose. Haha! He was all butt hurt and pulled me over instantly and just took my license and said " A ticket is coming ". 😠 Back then there wasn't any restriction about the left lane, you didn't need to be passing anyone to use it. He had raced up behind me so fast that I was certain he couldn't have known my speed. I cheerily accepted the ticket and looked it over and lo and behold officer butthurt hadn't filled in the space for my actual speed at the time of the incident. I knew I had him. Went to court in front of the judge and explained exactly what happened, officer butthurt was squirming. The judge looked over the ticket I handed him and then gave the cop a look that , well, it wasn't good. He asked the cop a couple of real dry questions, glared at him some more, and said "case dismissed". Officer butthurt wouldn't even look at me. He did the walk of shame in front of a full courtroom. It was a good day, for a 18 year old hippy kid.😎 👍

@@MaximusPsychosis actually there might be some special regulations for dash cams. It is best to check if they exist in state before purchasing. @MaximusPsychosis6 жыл бұрын
yeah, you're right, here in Australialand, ive been told that the date and time needs to be exact, or its dismissed, insurance companies will just dismiss it due to some legalities, most chinzy cameras cannot hold the date'n'time when the power is off.. but all i can think is turn that off, they have nothing to date it too, other then the aftermath looks to be the same on the footage, and when windows looks at a file, it updates the modified file date'n'time, so that cannot be used. if i filmed it on 8mm film, there is no time stamping on it, still can be evidence.. But yeah, i think there is things along the lines of must see oncoming and following licensing plates in the dark, must be able to recognize people, etc etc.. but they way i see it, footage is 100% better then word of mouth.
@Muhanoid6 жыл бұрын
@@MaximusPsychosis agreed that it is better in general sense, but law is law. Also, if camera loses date/time when off it means it needs connection to external (car) battery. Also it is possible to glue digital clock within camera visibility. But that needs to be solidified in court by judge verdict or some other bureau that can say (with stamp of their jurisdiction power) "yes this is valid" or "no, this is not allowed". About modification of file. It needs to be in "read only" mode. Some flash cards have a switch that forces all content into read only mode. Once again, there needs to be a regulation that explains how file must be handled. Does court recognize only original file on camera card or copy with same hash (exact copy with zero modification) applies as same file? What if evidence (original) is lost? Would copy be valid if it has all same parameters, except when it was created due to how windows writers time of creation and modification? PAPERWORK!

If you're afraid to operate your vehicle under certain conditions, then you have two options from which to pick one: 1) Turn in your license. 2) Pay attention to the fact that there are plenty of other tractor trailers in your mirrors, and they're running two abreast, which should immediately tell you that your fear that the lanes aren't wide enough is completely without merit. But San Antonio has never passed that ordinance, and there are no interstates in San Antonio off-limits to trucks in the left lane.
@jimh35883 жыл бұрын
In most States the left lane is for active passing only so one may assume the initial directive of the officer may be related to impeding traffic. Additionally in many States you may not tow any trailer in the far left lane. Secondly, purchased items “cost”, not “costed.”

As a commercial driver, I was a fan of this video after the aggressive motorcycle PD. HOWEVER, I am very disturbed and disappointed by the driver attempting to pass in a narrow construction zone. The commercial driver at 2014/02/03 03:52:44 was protecting the public and you/r driver from endangering himself and others. If the timestamp is correct, which I doubt, it predates your "new" camera. You make us all look bad to the general public with such a reckless pass in a construction zone, when the guy could have waited 5 minutes to pass. This commercial driver admitted to going UNDER the speed limit while in the passing lane. While not illegal to do so, he needs to be cognizant that others are DOING the speed limit and want to pass HIM. Those people that ride the left lanes not passing are dangerous because it forces those passing to pass on the right and also do numerous lane changes while aggravated. I drive extensively up and down the I-95 corridor in the mid-Atlantic and NE states. I call them left lane vigilantes. They are so frustrating. Many states prohibit cruising in the passing lane and it is a ticket-able offense. That judge was wrong. With a independent battery that recharges when the truck is running you can have 24/7 camera coverage to get those events that happen when you are parked and off as rare as those are. Suction cup window mount with cigarette lighter power cord. After an initial setup, all I have to do is plug it in and it immediately starts recording. Uses those micro-SD cards. It records on the card until the card fills to capacity, the goes back to the beginning of the memory and records over the old data. You never have to mess with it, except for remembering to unplug it when you leave the car!

No, the quality of the video is mediocre during the day and to bad during the night. If you need a real admissible evidence, spend $50 on a dash camera, and USE a LC noise filter in line, and a RG-58 coaxial cable to ground the noise and to get a crisp clear video. I am Happy with a "apeman Full HD 1080". If you can spend more a "BlackVue DR650 2 chan" is the choice but there are no limits if you go to 4K dashcam with very high price, and very high day and night video quality.

Most states including Texas, and especially California, restricts vehicles with three or more axles (i.e. Lorry/Semi/Big Rig) from traveling in the far left hand lane. If the HWY has three lanes, then the truck/tractor is relegated to the far right lane, and may use the center lane for passing. If there are four or five lanes, then the truck/tractor is relegated to the two far right lanes. The lane right of the far left lane may be used for passing. So theoretically, there should not in general, be large commercial trucks in the far left lane at all. I would think a lorry/semi/big rig operator, one should really know these rules, they are there for public safety… …

Install dash cams in every vehicle, and remove all the nonsense safety nannies, like airbags, anti-lock brakes, traction control, etc. Without all that crap, maybe people would drive better knowing their head is bouncing off the steering wheel & windshield when they hit someone, and that they need to drive responsibly because if they don't they don't have a traction control and stability control system to save their sorry asses from their own terrible driving habits. I bet most people on the road today wouldn't be able to drive a vehicle that don't have all that safety shit in it without getting into several wrecks within a short distance just because they really don't have a clue how to drive...they rely 100% on all the electronic nannies to get them from point a to point b and oftentimes all those nannies still can't save their dumb asses from their complete lack of common sense and driving skills which is very lacking today.

At the 37-second Mark you can see he stopped passing and that's exactly where the cop then pulled him over after warning him previous. The law is still always dry faster than traffic you write slower than traffic to your left and all of these individual state laws have to abide by that.
@SillyRamen6 жыл бұрын
Paco Vasda , Half of your first comment wasn't even relevant and I think you forgot this is a semi. After he passed the first white truck, he still needs to get a significant distance ahead to clear his back end and then some extra space so he doesn't cut the truck off too close before moving back over. When you look at the distance between the trucks he can fit, but by the time he could fit he would almost be at the second truck (that at the time was going slower than him) so there would be no point in maneuvering into that gap when he would just need to get back in the left lane again only seconds later to pass the second truck. So he just continued to stay in the left lane. He didn't do anything wrong. The second truck suddenly picks it up so the semi won't pass and it was only seconds after that that the cop cut in. He did as the cop said and moved over but the second white truck was going slower again so he got back into the left lane to pass. He broke no law in doing any of this.
@pacovasda59556 жыл бұрын
@@SillyRamen remember there's a law called safe and prudent speed and if you can't pass somebody with enough speed to get buy them then they're speed and your speed is not safe and prudent to pass you don't get to argue speed limits or anything like that if they're going so fast that you can't get past them then stay behind them but we're Talkin 2 or 3 miles an hour and if you can't speed up 10 miles an hour then there's a problem. That said yes this is a semi and that has to be considered and respected. The problem is and the reason that I go on just because I've got time I'm in and out of the hospital because of an accident on the interstate where the left lane was blocked and some traffic was racing some Vehicles moved out of the way for the faster traffic and some got pushy and refused and tried to slow the Speeders on purpose and it caused a huge accident and luckily I'm not that hurt ultimately but some other people were so now yes I have a sore nerve regarding improper lane usage as I found talking two cops that they are much much more worried about improper lane usage then they are speeding. I find that they've been giving tickets for it for years but the general population is ignorant and just assumes that every time they see somebody getting pulled over it's for speeding. Years ago I took lots of driving classes proper lane usage is the main thing they teach watching out for people improperly using lanes is a constant topic. Yes this subject does hit a nerve and yes I am trolling it a little bit because it is the number one danger on the road by far more dangerous than speeding. Think about it if hardly anybody was speeding but nobody obeyed appropriate lane usage there would be crashes all the time. If lots of people sped but everybody obeyed appropriate lane usage which means using your mirrors then there would be very few crashes on the road. Too clearly dangerous things that you can see from the example which one ultimately is more dangerous they both need to be respected not just the speed limit.

If it weren't for the cop, the semi would have kept the constant pace he was keeping before hand and passed the truck with no problem. The only reason he didn't was because of the cop interfering in what didn't need interfering in.

Where I'm from semi's are not allowed in the far left lane at all if there are more than 2 lanes. Funny part is, the minute you're within a few miles of a highway split or a change in the number of lanes, they all cram into the far left lane knowing that soon they'll be allowed to be in that lane - like little kids that want to break the rules, but just a little bit!

In most places, semi's must remain in the outer two lanes. This applies to everything with three or more axles (with the exception of buses I think). If the semi was towing, it cannot be in the #1 lane, unless there is an exception for proximity to a highway interchange. This is sometimes couched as a regulation on towing, but it works out the same.

Ya drive a truck in the 2 right lanes and tell me how many times you get brake checked by asshats who can not look out the left window and mirror? Loads shift so you want a truck rolling over or spilling out on the highway all the time? Tying up traffic for cleanups? You really need educated on trucking. Almost everyone does. We do not stop on a dime. We need to be given the left lane to get threw those metro areas when not delivering there. You will see then that trucks will not be involved with car crashes. I've had a cop point me over just like yours did in Denver once. Funny thing is, I was in the middle lane but within a mile both lanes left of me merged out and left me in the left lane.
