2000 Chevy tracker Fuel Tank replacement

Will be doing this in the coming week on mine. Same color but I am the original owner of my vehicle purchasing in Virginia Halloween 1999. This was awesome for letting me know what to expect. I did purchase new pump, new tank, forgot about the hoses, and the fuel filter was replaced a few weeks ago. Beware when replacing, some are listed at parts stores (I am commercial parts person at one), but it is NOT a direct replacement. The crimp is on the wrong end and will not allow for using the bracket. Ensure the crimp is towards the end with the straight pipe not the curved. Otherwise, it will not be able to be mounted.

One thing I like to do on jobs like this is even though it comes with new hardware I go and get stainless hardware and use anti-seize.

Lol I had the same issue welding the tailpipe why the tank was on I suggest doing it while changing the tank, I didn't bother swopping the tank I ran some chemical compound round the seam been fine now for over a year

Do you have any videos on fixing front end issues ( bearings, axles, tie rods, etc)? I own five 2004 Chevy Trackers 2 ZR2 & 3 LT. And 4 of them are having issues with the front end. I am not mechanically inclined but would like to try to fix issues with a good tutorial. Thanks for your videos!! Debi

Great vid! I'll be doing the same on a 99' 2dr. I'm having a heck of a time finding seals/gaskets for the rollover valve and vent valve, crazy hard time lol 😕. Any chance you have any helpfull info for the seals?

If you are changing a gas tank on an old car, you should change the fuel pump and now good for 8+ more years. Rusted fuel pump top - change it. Doing all that work to drop it only to find it is a 2001 fuel pump 18 years old = change it. Your time is worth $$$$.

gas tank also leaks when its 1/2 full or higher

Do you happen to recall the size of the bolts that hold the fuel pump in? Going to have to do mine and not getting a new tank so will need to find new bolts.. Also, do you think they will come out without breaking? Are they big enough unlike the small screws?

drip oil on that drill bit...no sparks...you could also fill the old tank with water..

If you were getting rid of the old tank (recycling,) just empty the fuel out into another container, then fill with water, then drill.
