in this video we cover the changing of the oil pan on a 2000 chevy tracker, i haven't seen anyone else upload one of these for this vehicle and i know why... its not fun but it is doable. Thanks for the support

I was feeling the shade tree mechanic ethos emerging when you said you weren’t using air tools, then I saw it was on a lift. *burst my bubble* lol

Not sure how much of your video will apply to my 1994 Suzuki Sidekick, but now I feel prepared to drop the oil pan, replace the oil pickup tube O-rings, maybe tighten the timing chain, then replace the oil pan gasket and fill it with oil. Thank you.

helpful video, however..im unsure why it seemed so easy to tighten oil pump chain. on mine it seemed loose., but that guide should've had slots to tighten, but it didnt..so we modified it to have slots and now it seems good (the horrible sound is gone). fingers still crossed it will stay good. also i wish i used that gasket seal stuff u recommended. used only gasket and now leaks a bit. and friends dad who is a mechanic recommended same stuff shorty after install. saw people are split roughly 50/50 on weather to use only gasket or only sealer/both and since only gasket was easier and less messy just went with that unfortunately. also unless this decently big job was a last ditch effort to save your vehicle from previous timing chain job failures by using chain kit from china as it was with mine.. the title is clickbait? not sure why it almost destroyed engine with this one... fyi, oil pan was rusting out for a while, and our last resort theory was that oil pump wasn't supplying enough pressure to the small chain tensioner anymore because thats the chain that was obviously starting to break. either that or the tensioner from the kit was shit so we put a new oem one and new oem chains with pan and oem pump as well. after already doing big chain tensioner and lifters separately.

@@smashengineeringoffical Re-watched and saw it thanks. Going to attempt this on the weekend. Have the engine already out which should make it a lot easier.

Wondering how the timing chain issue worked out? I was going to replace my chains, gears and tensioner but cant get original parts. A mechanic friend of mine who works on many Trackers wouldn't do the job because of this. Apparently, the aftermarket parts that are out there are from China and they fail very quickly. Maybe I need to just go in and adjust as you did.

would you recommend doing an oil pan and steering rack replacement at the same time? both of mine are leaking and i’m trying to do as much at one time as possible. same year, engine & 4WD

Hello, Have you ever replaced the, what I believe is called Cradle Gasket? I have an oil leak on my 2.0l Tracker and its coming from below the oil filter and above the oil pan. Someone told me it was the cradle.

I've got an 03 suzuki grand vitara 1.6 GV in the US I think you call them chevvy geo trackers not sure why, anyway mine is on 60k just replaced cambelt and waterpump even tho there was nothing wrong with the original belt manual says 60k but I reckon you could easily get 100k maybe more, it's normally the tensioner or pulley that fails

@smashengineeringoffical2 жыл бұрын
It kept leaking all the oil out over night
@bradleyjones31694 жыл бұрын
Did it ever leak? Some people say never use a gasket or it will...
@smashengineeringoffical4 жыл бұрын
