Not new to the mod motors, forged rods and pistons on the 90s teksid cobra blocks with stock sleeves are good for about as far as you can keep the B heads on the block, regular C heads wouldn't make the power, and then gt40/gt500 heads from 05+ got them to the point where they could make 3k+ with the right rod/piston on that syock kellog crank. After that, a billet steel crank was needed to not eat bearings every pass. And billet steed rods too. The record with a 4.6 modular block is near 4000 horse (according to math from a quarter mile run) done on stock sleeves bored .003 over, and the main webs started cracking. This is all rated from John mihovetz, the modular ford legend.

@BC08
@BC08 Жыл бұрын
Ya. Mihovetz did that with a 99 Teksid block with stock liners taken .002” over (dry decked with coolant routed to the back of the heads), Ford GT/Shelby GT500 head castings, and stock hydraulic lash adjusted and cam followers. This is why I laugh at this dude saying the old 4-valves were “dark days”. Coyote is “easy mode” only because they have readily available intake manifolds and stock engine management that will spin 8000 rpm paired with decent factory rods. The truth is Coyote hasn’t really haven’t really progressed over the “dark days” stuff in regards to blocks, cranks and cylinder heads (Ford GT/GT500 heads specifically).

I think that's moreso because the pins were reused and the chamfer on the pin was a bit excessive. Looking at the pin bores it didn't look like it was hammering but we've run that thing pretty hard none the less. When we take the next engine apart we can have a better read on it. The bearings were not hammered, but I agree they should slide out. Thanks
