This is a great video. I think that the thing to understand is that the wire plugs into the back of the motor but the bracket and bolts are 90 degrees and basically face up. The transmission tube bend is a really good land mark. You can basically follow the tube and touch the bolts from the top, too. It still took me forever to figure this out! Thanks!

Short and sweet without any hype. Thank you I ordered one that came today and I'm changing it out cuz my truck never throws a code but I'm replacing the air charge sensor replacing the TPS the O2 sensors the crank sensor the map sensor just because it's a 99 as almost 200,000 on it it's still runs great but has an intermittent stall problem every now and then stalls it won't start back up for like 10 minutes so I'm going to do the fuel pump also.

Thanks Bro! Installed a new timing chain and my engine ran super smooth but idle at 500. It then boggs out. I changed pcm, 02 sensors, idle air control to not fix anything. I didn't think my 5.9 had a crank sensor since it isnt the newer hemi 5.7. I hope this fixes it!

For those two bolts that hold in the sensor, it's 1/2" wrench (or socket) OR a 1/4" allen wrench.

Can you do one on the camshaft sensor?
@dubblyewjay11332 жыл бұрын
easy peasy- pull off dist cap and look underneath. Disconnx battery lead and make SURE you don't pinch the lead and know which way the cap and wires fit so you don't screw with the firing order.

Did you have a check engine light on? If not, what problems were you having? I have a 2nd gen. with the 5.2 and have rough idle issues at cold start but no check engine light. Plenum gasket is good, New O2 sensors,, new plugs/wires/cap/rotor, cleaned throttle body, etc. Some of the members on the Dodge forums have found this sensor to be the culprit.
@ParoDoXz8 жыл бұрын
No I did not have a check engine light on, but I would definitely replace yours I think it could possibly be your problem too. Next thing I would check is your timing
@roberthanrahan40048 жыл бұрын
Great truck ..... what do you do if you don't have a body lift like that....
@ParoDoXz8 жыл бұрын
It will be a little harder to find if you don't have any lift. But it's still in the same spot and you get it off the same way
@bbgdaddy51987 жыл бұрын
one thing about these trucks is that a body definitely helps for these sensors as well as removing/ installing the motor. Way easier if you have the lift.....mine doesn't but I may add one in the next year or so.

I’m having the same problem I have a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 5.9 liter. I wired a subwoofer then when I tried to start, it started the first time then just died. Now it just cranks but will not start at all. When I give it a little gas it will just barely run then die. Please help
@JohnSmith-rc7xw5 жыл бұрын
Why did you change the sensor? I'm working on my brothers wich is cranking forever before it finally starts, I've been through everything and I am starting to think this might be what is wrong with it. He said it runs fine until it shifts into 3rd gear then it starts breaking up. Any input would be great, thanks.

How do I know if my sensor is bad. I have the same truck and it idles high and kicks when I put it into drive it recently just stalled as well.??????
@dannyshuknecht79446 жыл бұрын
Might also be a o2 sensor I have a 95 and it was doing what you said idling high kicking when shifted occasionally stalling. You’ll know if the sensor is bad when either the truck shuts off and cranks but will not start. The easiest way to diagnose is if it shuts off and will not start crank the motor and look at the rpm gauge. If the sensor is bad it will not show any rpm. If it shows rpm it’s something else.

My truck is starting up very inconsistently like somedays it'll be fine them others it won't work at all. last night I changed the rotor and distributor and it started right up. this morning it worked fine and I drove it to school. once I got out of school the damn thing wouldn't start! all it would do is crank. Is it possible the crank shaft sensor could cause this?
@ParoDoXz7 жыл бұрын
It is definitely a possibility, yes. Have you plugged up a code reader to it?
@TheresSomeoneOnTheWing7 жыл бұрын
unfortunately I don't have a scanner so I haven't tried that. today it shut off while I was driving and then wouldn't start up. a couple hours later I got it to start once but then it cut immediately.
@ParoDoXz7 жыл бұрын
It could be a lot of things man, I suggest getting a buddy with a code reader or going up to auto zone and getting them to scan it
@TheresSomeoneOnTheWing7 жыл бұрын
Think codes will show up even though there's no dash lights on?
