Thank you for this video! Saved me a ton of time troubleshooting this very problem. Only for anyone that may be wondering, mine was on a 2000 Dakota with the 5.9 V8. The parts in the steering column are exactly like your Ram. Only difference was the dash cowling. I fixed the wire pretty much the same as you only I soldered the wire to the new connector and used heat shrink tubing. I was sure happy that was such an easy and fast fix! Thanks again Mr Payne.

bought a 97 sst the other day and had done this exact repair on my 97 sport 10 years ago but couldn't remember what color wire was the problem... excellent job with the video....

YOU ARE AWESOME !!! My 99' Dakota RT Had the Same Problem, Your Video Saved me Countless hours of Diagnostics and Frustration. I fixed it just like you did and it cost me $10. Mostly to go buy tamper-proof torx wrench. I just used Phillips head screws I had when I put it back together. Great How-to Video. Thanks !!

Thanks for the video on this. The same wire was pulling out of the terminal block on my truck as well when tilting the wheel. The connection was not broken like yours was but what I found is that the locking clip inside of the blue terminal block was never molded into the block. I pushed the wire into place and used a bit of black silicone in the back of the block to "glue" the wire into place. It holds it very well. The switch I still ended up replacing due to the right tail light being out. That's another issue all together, but the switch itself is where the fault was for the tail light.

The wire came loose because Dodge made the wires too short for the tilt mechanism. Need to extend the wire a couple of inches.

Right on, right on, right on,,, thank you so very very much for your information,,, 2000 Dodge 2500 four-wheel-drive have the same problem took everything apart as you described and sure enough wire was broke off the connection terminal and put a new terminal back on and work like original,,,, wires were definitely too short causing it to put more stress on the terminal to break,,,, once again thank you so much

My headlights do the same thing thank you for the video. I also have an issue with my wiperblades not working in intermittent mode is that whole switch assembly the assembly I need to replace to fix that issue?

+cody G Cody, while I'm not totally sure about the wiper blade portion of your problem, I think there's a very good chance it could be related to the same terminal block where my loose wire occured. I'd start by inspecting there, since you also have a similar headlight issue, and it's relatively easy to access. Good luck! Let me know what you find out.

Thanks for the video, I had the same problem, it turned out that it was the FCM which I saw commented about under your video. I found a few forums that suggested taking the FCM off, replug back in (several times, also slightly bent the last two pins on the cab side, not much). We'll see how long it works. Thanks to your video, I checked the MF switch first to eliminate that as the culprit. I inspected the MF plug and tilted the steering wheel, no luck, so I started researching more.

Ray Mork-On my 1996 dodge dacota no lights until I hold the high-low lever in up position then high beams work, release no lights. Replaced the unit and still same problem. Any suggestions ? Thanks

How do i separate the bottom plastic from top i took out the t screws but the two wont separate

Josh Branham Josh, if I remember correctly, I believe the top half kind of clips into the bottom half. Perhaps you need to insert a small flat-blade screwdriver between the halves and pry out gently? I hope that helps. Let me know if you're able to figure it out. Sorry for taking so long to reply.

+Terry Worth Terry, I can't tell if you're asking a question or if you are explaining the cause of your problem, but if you are asking...yes, I suppose a bad relay could cause the high beams to remain on. I would first check the wiring, though.

good video. I dont have the problem you are having. Instead, the PO decided to cut the entire harness out of the steering cloumn minus a few wires. Only the blinker works. I am basically wiring the entire steering column up. ALOT OF BUTT SPLICES I SEE!!!!

Well, All is good on my 1996 Dodge Ram 1500 headlight Issue that I repaired this morning.. all lights stayed on, on my way home Tonight from Work... I will be Keeping the headlight Harness on my truck, as it did make my headlights somewhat Brighter..
