Cool thing about Sport mode in this car is that when you're out of Sport mode, it locks out first gear in the transmission, always starts in second gear. When you switch to Sport mode and take off from a stop this thing WILL surprise you.

They shoud have gone with the B99 Bertone design for the last gen XJ. I suspect they would have sold better.The x351 is just 'a car' that's very expensive to run without the charm. Heck I'd even want one if it was electric.

The XJR always puts a smile on your face .... Put it in Sport Mode, Traction Control Off, then FLOOR IT .. !! I love my XJR, love the power, and love how the Americans enjoy our British cars - Great video, thanks for sharing. 😎😎😎

The reason why you got worse times every next run is because the factory supercharger intercooler pump is not efficient enough. Once the ECU detects overheating, it reduces the performance without telling you. That’s why I put a high performance pump on mine. Especially in the summer, that’s a must.

I got a 98 XJR in Red, LOVE this car.. I do drive like a 98 year old man sorry to say and I am 60 years old.. Great video and you are correct about the battery too. Thanks for the ride man. I got a car channel too.

I had the 2003 stype but with a 3.0 v6 and the 6spd ZF transmission. It wasn’t the fastest car but the driving experience is pretty much the same as it was already the revised model with better suspension. Jaguar owners are not the speeding type of people. Not rushing to anywhere because they know and feel they already have arrived.😊

I remember watching a Jeremy Clarkson VHS tape when I was a kid and seeing this beat all the best sports cars in a drag race. I used to lust over a dark red XJR in the Jaguar dealer near me. I've wanted one ever since.

This one might have a mild modification to it, like maybe a front muffler delete or something, but nothing major. I have an 01 XJR with a 100% factory exhaust and it sound very much like this. You can hear it, but its subtle and classy, not overdone.
