I remember my mate had one of those CRX's back in High School. Obviously not the same tune spec, however was an 89 SiR, that his grandfather could no longer drive. Lucky bugger got it as his second car. Man we had some great cruising times in that car, as well as putting a few smiles on other 'boy racers' faces as you pulled away from them

It's also interesting to see how i made the mistake of assuming the engine was the main part responsible for its speed when its more the extreme weight savings most people attribute this to (combined with an incredible engine, handling, aero etc). Glad your comment reminded me of this car, now i just need to find some more recent information on it. Would love to see it giving more modern cars a beating!

Suspension, engine tuning, gear ratios, not to mention all that is useless if the driver himself cant control such a light car. Sure, the CRX was well suited to the track, but you're discrediting the drivers and builders by implying it was solely up to the amount of horsepower they were able to put in and the amount of weight they could take out.
