Nice! Just replaced this on my 2001 VW Beetle. BTW (Tip maybe?) my engine was cold and I removed the coolant tank cap but put it back on before proceeding. I didn't want to spill a lot of coolant so hopefully w/o air coming in from the other side it wouldn't come out so fast. My wire tab was toward the engine and hard to get at with a screwdriver so I opted to pull the clip and sensor out first while still on the wires. The old gasket was fine and remained on the sensor. I was ready with the new one and only lost about 2 Tbsp of coolant. Also I had rags under it to catch what fell. The hardest part for me was getting the air tubes out of the way in order to access the sensor. Thanks for the helpful video.

I did this too and lost no coolant at all.

Very good!!! You kept it short and concise. You need to do more videos and more cars. I don't know about other people but I hate lengthy videos. Your video was right on the mark and we did not need to hear about other irrelevant things

Nice vid, thanks for the help. 80% of my Golfs parts are from the local scrap yard so I’m prob gonna go find the sensor there👌

After removing the blue cap to relieve any pressure I would put it back. You might lose less coolant that way.

It can create air bubbles if you leave it on.

If you drive around beforehand for 10 minutes or so and then when you relieve the pressure of the reservoir screw the cap back on and leave it for another 5 minutes you will get suction within the coolant system instead and loose little to no coolant at all when you pull the sensor.

Hopefully won't have to replace the sensor again but if I do I will give that a try.

Would you need to bleed the air from the system as well? I took mine out to test it first and it was screwed so ordered a new one, now awaiting replacement, I did lose a fair bit of fluid, I took the cap off but I didn't put it back on, rag or towel (why didn't I think of that?) to soak up what came out, the coolant container/tank more or less emptied, I'll chuck some water down there tomorrow to dilute it all down, I guess there is still quite a bit of coolant left in the system so OK to leave it out for a few days (prob put the old one back in until the new one comes, block up the hole, I wanted to test it on the Multi Meter first, and I'm OL on pins C and D when it should be 1500 to 2500 ohms and also 850 - 1000 ohms on pins A and B so I know it's a goner just based on that, good video

can you share the wiring . ive had a hard time finding the g62 coolant sensor diagram . its violet brown and white and brown and red and solid red . but im not able to find which one belongs in which pin. its a b c d . if you could just shara a quick vid . that would help a tons . ive been able to narrow it down to less than 16 possibilites with this vid. but still need a better glimpse where does the red belong . im sure now its nex to violet at the bottom but not able to tell where the oval part goes

Hey nice video. My car looks exactly the same under the hood but the sensor is different where you pointed. There is a blue, square sensor there. Is it the same one?
@blakevaughn82373 жыл бұрын
Idk if you have got it resolved but you have the old style. The green is updated and works vetter
@Frang149983 жыл бұрын
@@blakevaughn8237 Thank you for the reply friend. Yes I got it resolved but I couldn't have put the green one there because the connector was different for it as well. Luckily the car shop had a blue one and it made my car run SO much better. Amazing to think that this small thing does so much for the vehicle.

My car just show up the check engine when i turn on the AC, and start like lose power and just the battery die, do you think, that sensor could be the reason ?
@tristancaputo91493 жыл бұрын
That sounds more like an electrical issue then a coolant issue, im thinking most likely a bad alternator

Would it be the same for an 03 TDI?
@ethanmills19434 жыл бұрын
If the engine is a 2.0L yes, it should be the same. The only difference is the fuel it runs off of, which does not affect the cooling system design of the engine for the 2.0L.
