Alex Santana the company thank you. Super cool you’re taking initiative to learn about your car. I have three daughters that I’m teaching to do their own maintenance.

Subscribed. I've watch around 10 videos on this subject, you are the only one identifying what the surrounding parts are. Eg I finally found out what that infernal intrusive metal pipe is and where it goes. Your videos are still helping people years after you've posted it.

I know this video is older but could you answer a quick question? My husband hit a rabbit on the way home with his Jetta and we haven’t been able to figure out what is wrong with it could this sensor keep the car from starting because it turns over but doesn’t start. Just curious before I take the time to do it all

I have a 2004 VW Beetle with a 2.0 l engine. The engine is hard to start and when it starts it idles rough at first then it revs up to a really high RPM on it's own. The radiator fans don't work and the AC compressor doesn't work. This all started suddenly. It seemed to be working OK the last time I drove it. Could all these symptoms be caused by a bad coolant temperature sensor?

At what temp should the radiator fan kick on?? Awsome video couldnt done it without your help thanks.
@HowtoAutomotive
@HowtoAutomotive 5 жыл бұрын
If I remember right it’s around 210° or slightly over halfway on the gauge. It can take for ever to get it up to temp.

do i have to replace the whole housing of the sensor like you did in the video or could a simple sensor replacement work?
@nateisaak1508
@nateisaak1508 4 жыл бұрын
Check and see if there are any cracks in the housing, and check where the rubber ring for the housing is to see if any coolant is leaking from there. Best way to do this is wipe the housing off then start the car and once the pressure builds check for leaks by the housing. If there aren’t any and it looks good, changing just the sensor should be fine.

So my jetta after driving up to temp works fine shift well then it just revs in gear and feels like its barely grabbing gear.. cool it off works fine .. for another twenty mins.. i replaced valve body got 1200 miles out of it and same issue ... any recomendations
@HowtoAutomotive
@HowtoAutomotive 4 жыл бұрын
Dru Lessman I would start by pulling codes from the TCM and ECM. Sounds like one of the solenoid in the transmission that controls the shifting has stop working when it gets hot

Good job. Do you have any idea why my 2004 jetta After you dive for 15 minutes. And turn it off if you drive it again like 10 minutes the epc light comes the car don't accelerate
@HowtoAutomotive
@HowtoAutomotive 5 жыл бұрын
Abel Lopez Sounds like a problem with the throttlebody. I would start by pulling code and see where that takes you. You could also try to clear adaptations.

will a bad temper sensor cause really bad gas mileage?
@HowtoAutomotive
@HowtoAutomotive 6 жыл бұрын
s c yes it can. If it thinks is running cold it will make the car run richer. I would check for vacuum leaks on this car is very common.

How to Automotive so on a 2003 2.0 I should look for vacuum leaks? not only is my check engine light on giving a read of something with the coolant. it started to hesitate the other day and the engine light started flashing?
@HowtoAutomotive
@HowtoAutomotive 6 жыл бұрын
s c that means the car is miss firing and you should not drive it. This could be anything from spark plugs to the mission coils to severe vacuum leaks.

Loki Man that exactly what were used in this vehicle. I even say it and mention it in the video. The coolant that came out of it was 90% water.

I agree with you, Loki. Is the G12 or G13 pink coolant. I hear that the green one does a lot of damage in the long run. My friend has a Golf which I did the water pump, thermostat, radiator fan and temp cooling sensor and all for free. Why? The man is on disability and has financial trouble. He had the green stuff in it. I told him is the pink one that these cars use .
