I have a 1998 nissan frontier xe, can you a video or a demonstration video on how to change the motor mounts and the transmission mount on this vehicle I'm having a hard time finding motor mount replacements on this particular vehicle I know it's probably the same for all vehicles but it's important for me to see it done on the exact vehicle because I am a amateur mechanic so if you can do maybe just a demonstration video and not actually pulling anything apart or show where the locations are and tools you need that would be cool

This procedure is for the 2001-2004 2.4 L 4 cylinder (It is much, much harder than the 3.3 V-6.) I cut two seams in the passenger side wheel well and folded the sheet metal up. This gave me access to the bottom and top bolt of the starter after moving the electrical conduit out of the way. Then I took the top bolt off the shock and compressed it out of the way, I detached the plastic clip and moved the accelerator cable and the two fuel lines out of the way. This made ample space to remove and reinstall the starter. The 2001-2004 Frontiers have much more hoses and conduit in the way than previous year Nissan Frontiers. It is not optimum to cut the wheel well but I folded it back in place and covered it with the plastic liner. I have a future access panel now. THIS MADE THE STARTER REMOVAL MUCH EASIER.

I was going thru my e-mail and found your email you sent me regarding the sensor removal,I borrowed a scanner that plugs into the under side of the dash to scan what's wrong, well at first it said it was the cam sensor and I couldn't get it out , so I got pissed and walked away from the project and decided to hire my mechanic who finally had the time to fix it . turned out it wasn't the sensor, it was the the square oxygen on top very easy to get too, well that sensor was defective and I couldn't return the part because I misplaced my receipt turned out I had an old one so I put it in, but the problem was the distributor I changed it with my old sensor and it works, but I can't understand why the scanner would give me a false diagnosis, it's the kind all the mechanics use. anyway thanks for your help.

Thanks . Good video. Oh yeah though..that top starter bolt is a bear on the 03 frontier im doing. Seems like a long skinny handled ratchet or ratchet with a knuckle works without a possibility of rounding bolt head. Thanks as someone else said on telling us to remover the under engine metal cover for the wire connector....I have tomorrow to put the new one in. I cut the old little wire from the starter ,,I was scared I shouldn't have done it..but advance auto had the starter with that wire so that's cool.

I tried to replace the starter on my 2004 Nissan Xterra too, but the bottom and upper mounting bolts are too tight, I couldn't even get it budge. Any suggestion? I already used a lot of penetrating oil.
@RazorBucks4 жыл бұрын
Do you have access to a longer wrench? If so, try that. If not, I have used thick walled PVC over my wrench/breaker to help break a stubborn bolt free, when I did not have access to a metal breaker. The longer you can get the tool, the more force you can apply. However, be careful, you could break the bolt, which could be worse.
@jzbrynn4 жыл бұрын
@@RazorBucks I tried to use longer wrench, and hammer to bang it in counterclockwise direction. Now I guess it getting worse at the bottom screw. The upper mounting screw I have limited space, and it is so hard to get it budge too. It seems yours are easier, with a couple of hits to get them loosen.

I have a 2001 Nissan exterra and I did everything in the video to change my starter , removed the bolts but it's not budging , it won't come out it feels like it's still bolted in, could I have possibly took the wrong screw off? I noticed the bottom screw was a lot shorter than the video, about an inch and a half, is that my problem?
@RazorBucks6 жыл бұрын
I know it is hard to tell from my video, but the screws are slightly diagonal from each other. Try to run your finger along the bottom of the starter from the most easiest to access screw around to the harder to access one. You will have the same flare around the bolt on both sides and that is your indication as to if you have found the correct screw. I can try to do a live stream if you would like.

What was your symptom of your problem? I get one click when I turn the ignition
@RazorBucks7 жыл бұрын
Just a clicking sound. I first tested the battery, checked the fuse, and fuel pump. If you will turn your truck to the "ON" position, but not crank it, you should be able to hear an electrical noise, which should be your fuel pump. The on position is the second click when turning your key.

@RazorBucks6 жыл бұрын
Do you have a frontier? I think it is coincidental. Have you checked your fuel lines? Have you checked to make sure you did not accidentally bump any of your other hoses or wire/connectors? My wife's honda odyssey did the same thing when I forgot to reconnect the mass airflow sensor. There was also a noticeable rough idle. Do you have a check engine light on? If so, do you have an obd scanner or can you make it to Autozone/Advanced/Oreilly near by that can scan the codes for you?
@dannycucul46756 жыл бұрын
Razor Bucks no I only disconnected the battery and took out the starter and well I only took out 2 bolts that hold it on and well the wire that i disconnected and on where the screw holds
@RazorBucks6 жыл бұрын
I believe it is coincidental. The starter should not have anything to do with it. Do you hear any strange sounds? I would definitely try to find a way to pull codes from the computer.
@dannycucul46756 жыл бұрын
Razor Bucks well when I brought it home it turns off and then I turns it on and well there was like a little clicking sound and when I get a red light the rpms kind of start to lose power
@RazorBucks6 жыл бұрын
I could be completely wrong, but I think it is the air sensor. Try to find somewhere you can get the codes read for free. If you have the funds available and you are in the States, your local walmart should have a code reader for sale. At my local store, they are currently on clearance.
