Skaife was a fearless driver. I admired his dedication. Lowndes is also one of the all time greats. Proper racers who look after the car and race hard to the checkered flag.

I remember trying to drive this track on TOCA Race Driver. Impossible! How 34 V8s made it around the track in a race I have no idea. No wonder it got canned!

I hated that track

It got canned due to the time of year they raced. They raced it in the heart of winter and it was freezing cold. As a result, there was poor fan attendance at the track. Combined with the logistics of setting up the track it just wasn't worth it

No, the Canberra government deemed it to be too cost heavy for the return they were getting. So they tore up a contract that would see them race until 2004.

To be fair, the cars today are just too expensive and it has taken some of the fun out of racing. I actually love the look of these cars much better than today. Nice simple paint jobs compared to those of FPR or HRT. They need to bring style back.

Grayfia Lucifuge The current cars are actually cheaper to make than the old cars because of the COFT rules. For example HRT explained that their 2014 HRT VF commodores cost around $300,000 to build from scratch but their 2004 HRT VY commodores cost up to $500,000 to build
