Thank you for the video and tips! My 03 Jetta threw the airbag warning light and my cruise control started acting weird. I turn it on and I see the CRUISE light on the dash. When I set a speed nothing happens. At random times it’ll start accelerating the car if I hold the Set/Res button down but then nothing happens once I let go. I thought it could be the lever itself that was faulty but upon further research, I now think it’s the clock spring.

I also had an issue with my Jetta's cruise switch. For me, the issue was the main power switch was not functioning. I wound up removing the switch and bypassing the main cruise switch by soldering the wires together at the base of the switch making it always turned on. I honestly believe they designed these cars to break and be replaced after a decade. BTW, If you ever buy a window switch, buy the bezel that holds it in as well since the tabs that hold it in are designed to break when you remove the bezel.

It's not a big deal. Airbags can be placed upside down. They get tossed around in shipping all the time.
